I'm All Tied Up

Wow! Perhaps it's because this was my first corset that cost more than $20, but this beauty is extremely divine. As a 3 piece set, this one has it all going for it. The back ties and ‘wet' panels throughout allows for a stretch fit along with a sleek sexy ‘in fashion' look. The embroidered sections may feel like upholstery, but they are comfortable and help hold things in place.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Everyone knows how much I love purple, so you can imagine the sound effects in my bedroom when I first saw this one advertised on Eden. I thinks DreamGirl was reading my mind when they designed this sexy number! I've never owned anything created in the ‘wet look' fabric before. I couldn't get my order in fast enough and then there was the long painful wait for it to arrive.

BRAND & COLOUR:

Liquid Shine corset, thong and stocking set is made in China for DreamGirl.
The shade is of a pink/purple tone which is very similar to the images on the product page. Only, in person the pink/purple is smidge darker. The black outlined shapes are raised slightly. The black ‘wet look' material is shiny while the embroidered panels have a mild sheen to them.

MATERIAL:

The corset and g-string are created from 100% polyester with the stockings being 87% nylon and 13% elastic fibre. The embroidered sections of this set is rather dense like furniture upholstery (no give at all), but with having the stretchy ‘wet look' material in between on the corset, it is comfortable to wear. The g-string is another story. There is a mesh type of backing on the embroidery sections which makes it softer on the skin. The inside of the ‘wet look' fabric is a matte polyester, so it doesn't stick or make the skin sweat like the shiny, slippery outer surface probably would.

The measurements below are done on the L garment I received.

G-STRING:

The g-string panel is one long strip of the embroidered fabric which is rather thick, so it tends to be stiff. Being wide at the back along with the stiffness makes it a little uncomfortable. It also features crochet lace all the way around the panel which may irritate some if you're butt is sensitive to such items. Between the front and back pieces is a strip of elastic (approximately ½” in width) on each side to create the waist/hip band. There's a very soft strip of cotton as a panty liner.

Waist Band:
Unstretched: 14 ½”
Stretched: 29”

Panel:
Front to back: 16”
Width at front: 4 ½”
Width at back: 2 ¾”
Widths are measured across the top edges.

CORSET:

In the front is two panels of ‘wet looking' material that comes together with 18 sets of hooks and eyes. Either side of these is a panel of pink/purple embroidery which creates the start of the halter neck ties. It goes up as far as the neck and then is taken over by wide (almost 1 ½”) ribbon which is 19” long on each side.
Down each side is another panel of the stretchy ‘wet' material before the embroidery fabric finishes the entire back. The middle of the back is broken by 12 sets of metal eyelets which are threaded in two sections (6 eyelet sets tie off the top and 6 sets for the bottom of the corset). These eyelets are set into dense material so they won't rip the fabric when the ties are pulled tight. The ties are round, smooth and slippery so they don't like staying tied. I double bow mine, but unless there is tension on them (like when being worn), they still tend to come undone.

There's four plastic bones up the front and another four up the back to give you plenty of shaping. The front ones also help in giving the bust a little support, as does adjusting the ties so the corset fits the body like a second skin.
All across the top edge, including the beginning of the halter straps, is finished off with black crochet lace to match the g-string. Along the bottom edge is a small hem in the ‘wet look' fabric. Inside the corset, positioned under the armpit sections, are two loops for hanging the garment up.

Attached to the hem is four removable and adjustable garter straps. As well as being made from black elastic, they can adjust from 5” up to 8 ¾”.

Across open corset:
Ties on tightest: 28 ½”
Ties at the loosest across the bottom: 35”

Length:
Hook/eye opening: 13 ½”
Sides: 12”
Back ties: 10 ½”

STOCKINGS:
Naturally, the stockings are black with a visible toe seam and the standard stretchy band top. There's no patterns or lace on these ones.

Length:
Unstretched: 27”
Stretched: up to 60”

Top band:
Unstretched: 3 ¾”
Stretched on thigh: up to approximately 28”

CLEANING ~ PACKAGING:

I have always washed my corsets by hand cause I'm worried about the plastic boning in the machine. I assumed this could be hand washed with no issues. It wasn't til writing my review that I found this is supposed to be dry cleaned only. Rest assured, this doesn't HAVE to be dry cleaned. Mine is in the exact same condition after cold hand washing as it was straight from Eden's packaging. Do not iron this one due to the ‘wet' fabric. If anything, I'd only iron the halter ribbon straps as they do become rather creased.

My Liquid Shine set arrived wrapped up in pink tissue paper. Attached to the corset, via a thin stem of plastic that sits into the fabric, was a piece of cardboard with the product page model wearing the garment. A small clear packet with the stockings enclosed was also attached to the corset.

EXPERIENCE:

I'm thinking of swapping the slippery ties for some ribbon, so the ties stay where I do them up. They aren't bad if there is tension on them while wearing the corset, but they do tend to work themselves undone when not being worn. I'm also not a big fan of the g-string. The stiff embroidered fabric doesn't mould well to my body in that area, so it felt uncomfortable. If I tried to place the reasonably wide back between my butt cheeks, it wasn't a nice feeling with the stiff bulkiness going on down there. If I tried to wear it like the model on the product page, it didn't come up far enough on my ass or in the front to make it comfortable.
I found the crochet lace under the armpit area was a tad annoying, but nothing bad enough to stop me wearing this stunning corset. It's far more comfortable than my old cheapy ones which will be lucky to get a look in now that I this one.
I normally go for an XL in lingerie from Eden and my chest measures 42 ½” (DD cup). I decided to go for the L instead of the recommended 1X/2X. There was two reasons for this: 1) I am trying to lose weight and want this to fit (up to a certain point) as I do so. I was actually hoping the gap in the back now would be wider so it would be perfect once I've lost all the weight. 2) I knew that if I'd gone for what the size chart says, there wouldn't be a gap in the back in the chest and waist section.
I like a tie back corset to expose a reasonable amount of skin beneath the criss cross ties. At this stage, I have a 2” gap in the chest area which is how I like it. I'll have to purchase another one of these in a smaller size if the weight loss goes well.
Depending on how you like your corsets to fit, you may be able to order a size smaller than the size chart says.

I LOVE my Liquid Shine corset set. It deserves more than 5 stars.
