Babydoll and panty set

I Should Have Just Heeded the Damn Warning

This piece looked so pretty and feminine in the pictures, but the sideways model doesn't show how unflattering this piece is from the front. The fabric poofs out causing an unflattering added bulk to the torso. Sure, it fits, but its nothing that does justice to any figure I can think of.

extremely useful review
Usually when I decide to buy a piece of lingerie despite a negative review of it, it's because I feel their body type wasn't ideal for the sizing (in this case, the reviewer complained of having a small chest that did not fill the cups). I should have heeded their warning to stay far from this. I was tempted by the sale price and pretty look of this unique piece. However, I was fooled by the picture. This piece is so unflattering! The model hides this by standing sideways. The fabric is very poofy and bunchy causing it to come out from the torso in a very funny way. This will happen no matter what size you are. It fits me, but is so not doing justice to my body.

*Contents/overview: Two pieces

This set from Leg Avenue has two pieces:

*Lace up babydoll
*Matching thong

*Material: Cheap, Unimpressive

This babydoll is made out of 80% nylon and 20% spandex. This set is made of two different kinds of mesh. Only one of them is stretchy. The majority of this feels like a mosquito netting It's only stretchy in one direction and is very unimpressive. The band of the bra portion and pantie are made of better mesh material. There is a little bit of rough lace trim and a lot of satin ribbon. It came already running at the bottoms. The ribbons also have those silly loops on the side of them. I haven't seen that kind of lace since my mom used to make my Halloween costumes in grade school. It looks tacky to me.

*Design/craftsmanship: Odd, Unflattering

The babydoll has a very strange design. The bust portion is sort of like a regular bra except the cups are very strange. They are shaped like half circles and only have two layers of mesh. There is underwire, but the double mesh doesn't help support much at all. The inner layer of mesh is a light pink, while the outer layer is black like the rest of the mesh. The tops of the cups have a thin layer of scratchy lace. Two short pieces of lace covered straps form a triangle at the top of the cups. Then one strap breaks off to tie around the neck in a halter. The string is stretchy, so it doesn't help with support either. The sides of the bra are like a regular bra. They only clasp in the back with one hook and eye closure that has three sizing choices about 1/2" apart from each other.

At the bottom center of the cups is over three feet of pink lace topped with a small pink bow. This is used to be wrapped around the body and torso. Also connected to the cups is all that flowy mesh. It has a layered look that angles from the front. It is completely open in the front and there is an upside down triangle cut out of the back right below the bra band. The back has a long train that goes well below the butt. The long lace pieces can be tied around the torso under all of this mesh or on top of it.

The bottoms are a regular string bikini thong. They have no pantie liner and have a regular back.

Possible Accessories

I would wear heels that wrap around the ankle or calf to go with the Grecian looking top.

*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash/cardboard box

The box says to hand wash seperately in warm water. Drip dry. Do not bleach. It isn't hard to clean and dries quickly. To store put it back in the thin cardboard box it came in (if you didn't destroy the plastic covering when you opened it) or place it in a drawer.
Experience
*Sizing/fit: Fits, but really oddly

Leg Avenue tends to run on the smaller side, so I chose to get the large, plus that was the only size left at the time. I figured I needed room in the bust anyways. While this fits, it is really unflattering and I am not pleased at all. This is supposed to fit a 12-14 dress size, C cup, 36-38" band, 27-29" waist, and 38-40" hip. I weigh ~142 pounds (size ~8); curvy but fit, with size 34/36 D breasts.

The cups are a bit too soft to keep a good breast shape and the underwire is a bit uncomfortable. The band is large on me, which makes sense, but it isn't so loose that it is bothersome. The lacing is the worst part. Laced around my waist looks really sexy, but the mesh fluffs out like a cape. It does lay flat against the body and looks really unflattering. The same is true if you tie over the mesh. It causes bunching and added bulk to the torso. The thong cut in slightly, but is totally wearable. It doesn't fit the size chart though.

My Re-done Chart: For the large
Dress: 10
Cup: C-D
Band: 36-38"
Waist: Doesn't matter
Hips: 36-38"

*Conclusion: 2 stars **

Because this does technically fit, I can't bare to give it one star. I am giving it two because even though it fits it is really unflattering and nothing I'd ever wear in or outside of the bedroom. The design idea is gorgeous, it just needs better materials and a tweak to the construction.
Follow-up commentary
This followup is just to say that this item will be returned as soon as I get around to packaging it up. It's a totally bust for me. I don't often return lingerie...so that should tell you something.

Sorry this didn't work for you. I bought the ruffled panty/bra set a long while back and guessed on size - large because my boobs aren't very small but arent BIG either, the bra makes them look like "falling out" and the thong is way too big =/ so i cant wear it much

This is why I love the review program. Without reading this we would just have to go by the side photo given. Thanks so much, Ill star away from this as well. It is quite whimsical and pretty in the picture though, such a shame.

Sorry about the lingerie. The shoe you show is beautiful! I'm a shoe nut!

It's a shame this is so sucky, the design could be really great if they executed it right!

I hate when the photo totally hides what an item really looks like! I get that they want to make it look as good as possible, but making it look WAY better than it really is just results in a lot of dissatisfied customers!

Looks like this is discontinued now, I guess from the 2 bad reviews.

I agree! The pictures makes it look great.

    wetone123: Me too!

Crystal1: I totally agree! It creates unrealistic expectations from the pics.
