Diamond net thigh high - hosiery by Baci - review by ~LaUr3n~

I've always wanted a pair of intricate diamond net thigh highs like these. While I can't wear them comfortably how they are in the picture, I've figured out how to make them work. Being that this is my first experience with Baci stockings, I'm going to try to not hold onto this small grudge. The legs are incredibly comfortable, but the band is not. This is due to the fact that it is so thin and a bit too small. But I'd rather have the band cut in than the netting of the stockings, if I got to choose. It would take a while, but there is the potential to cut the band off, tie the lose ends and be able to wear these with garters. If it weren't for the fact that my boyfriend isn't gaga over these, I'd be getting them in more colors right away. Who knows... I still might.

*Overview:

This pair of thigh-high stockings from Baci are diamond-net which has five layers. The band at the top is very thin. There is plenty of room for them to be worn with garters. They are currently offered in the one size fits most OS in colors black, lime green, and pink. The toe is a smaller net which acts as reinforcement.

*Material: Great

These are made of 95% nylon and 5% spandex. The material in the legs is very soft and extremely stretchy. However, the band is rough and basically just a cheap elastic band. The netting is delicate, but not so delicate that I'm afraid to pull on it. It's not at all itchy or uncomfortable feeling.

*Design/craftsmanship: Pretty good

The very top of the thigh highs have a short 3/4" thick elastic band. The inside of them has a soft lining while the outside is the surface of the elastic. Unstretched, it is 6 1/2" across. Stretched to the max, it is 12" across. Right below that is not exactly as pictured. In the picture of the model there are three alternating rows of circular forms. In mine there are only two. This doesn't really affect anything but that cool design is a lot more noticeable on the model than it is on my version.

The body of the thigh highs stretch REALLY well. The stockings are very long and stretch a lot vertically too. They didn't cut into me anywhere. The diamond netting is comprised of five threads that all connect with another five threads into a sideways solid diamond. The pattern is very unique, intricate, and delicate. The nylon is thin, so these don't feel bulky. I love that.

The toes are sort of reinforced in that the bottom 3 1/2" of the stocking is small fishnet instead of the diamond net. My toes don't fit through it, so that is a plus.

*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash,box

The stockings come molded over a cardboard insert inside a plastic bag. That is then slid into a thin box that is reusable if you are careful. The box with model pictures has minimal care instructions to hand wash separately in cold water. These are made in Taiwan.

*Sizing/Application: OS, Tight band



These only come in one size fits most. According to the size chart there should fit dress sizes 2-14, and weights between 90-160lbs. My thickest part of my thigh is 23", which is about 2/3 of the way up my thigh. The band isn't too tight there, but it does cut in a lot and that bothers the hell out of me. Wearing it lower at about 21" which is a tad lower than where the model is wearing these, seems to be a weird spot because of how well these stretch and how long they are. I can roll the band and wear these lower, but I prefer to wear them all the way up my thigh, right under my butt. You've have to have rock hard thighs or ones that are really thin at about 18-19" for these not to cut in. BUT, they will fit up to about 26" if you don't mind the cut in. I just prefer everything to be absolutely seamless. The legs are great, though. They don't cut into me ANYWHERE. The length is better for average to taller gals. I'm 5'6" and the pattern works well if these are 1/3 up my thigh to all the way up my thigh. It gets trickier the shorter you are.

Thigh circumference: Max is around 26", but the best fit is about 19-21"
I think these are not going to be seamless and smooth on most people. The band is too thin for that.

*Application:

It takes time to bunch them up and line up the pattern correctly, but once you do, it's easy to slide your leg in and pull them up to the desired length.

Because the leg is incredibly comfortable and great fit, I don't want to give these too low a score. That and the fact that I can cut them and use garters with them. BUT, the band is important. It's not that it's uncomfortable or that it doesn't stretch. It's just too thin to not cut into most people.

I've made my peace with the band on these and have stretched it over books to stretch it out over night before wearing them. That seems to make them more comfortable. My partner and I saw a gal wearing the lime green ones on St. Patty's day. My boyfriend thought they looked cool, so I'll be getting those soon too.
