Peignoir discontinued

Is lingerie supposed to age you?

This piece was an absolute disappointment. It looks sexy on the model, but it made me feel like I was in my mid-60's! There's nothing wrong with being in your mid-60's, but I'm only in my mid-20's! I definitely won't be getting a lot of use out of this piece, and there's no way that I can recommend it. I don't see how the fit would flatter anyone, and further, I don't think that anyone will be able to tolerate the itchy lace.

extremely useful review
I really thought that I had found the perfect lingerie item when I saw this. It looked so sexy on the model, but it also looked like it'd be comfortable enough for sleeping. Yes, my hopes were certainly high! Then... it arrived, and disappointment set in.

I'm 25, and I have a massive lingerie collection. I have never encountered a piece that made me feel so...old and unattractive! I feel like this piece aged me by about 40 years! Maybe I'll learn to love it when I get older, but I doubt it!

Basics:
This set is made by Fantasy Lingerie. It's a three piece set, including a peignoir, a babydoll, and a pair of panties. The product page states the the included panties are g-string style, but they are not. Instead, the panties provide coverage in both the front and back.

This set is available in three different colors: black, white, and red. I purchased the black, and had planned on purchasing the red at a later date. After trying this set? I have deleted the red from my wishlist, as this set is just completely unflattering!

Sizing:
The black peignoir set is available in S, M, L, 1X, 2X, and 3X. I usually purchase the large in lingerie, but I decided to get a medium this time around. In all honesty, I should've went down to a small.

According to the size chart, a medium should fit someone with the following measurements:
Bust: 37-39"
Waist: 28 1/2" - 30 1/2"
Hips: 39 1/2" - 42 1/2"

I wear a 34D bra, and have a 32" waist. My hips measure 40".

This babydoll and peignoir feel huge on me! I was hoping that it would fit a little snugger in the bust, but it was huge. I should've sized down.

The panties, on the other hand, did not fit my 40" hips well. They really cut in, and gave me serious muffin top. They also didn't cover my entire ass -- instead, they left me looking like a plumber, with an inch or two of my crack being revealed. Definitely not sexy! In all fairness, though, I do have a lot of junk in my trunk.

Aside from the panties, this set is definitely meant for fuller figured ladies. Smaller girls, I think you're out of luck on this one, unless you enjoy your lingerie looking baggy and unflattering.

Now, I'm going to break this set down by piece...

The Peignoir:
What is a peignoir, you ask? It's basically like a robe, or dressing gown. Usually peignoirs are sheer, and delicate -- like this one.

This one is made out of 100% Nylon. It's completely sheer, with most of it being made out of mesh. There is also a large triangle on each arm that features a floral lace pattern. The cuffs of the sleeves are also made of that floral lace material. The material on the peignoir feels itchy, and uncomfortable. I had it on for 5 minutes before I had to take it off, as it irritated my sensitive skin so much.

Further, the peignoir is completely unflattering on me. The sleeves of it sort of "poof" up at the shoulders, and this just made my body look masculine. The sleeves are also quite baggy, which I didn't find sexy at all.

The edges of peignoir are bordered with a sort of scalloped lace edging. I usually love lace borders, but this one just feels grandma-like. The closure on the peignoir also makes the piece unflattering -- the closure is right at the collar. It's a single button, so the rest of the piece flows open.

All in all? I just hate this peignoir!

The Babydoll:
The babydoll is made out of 100% Polyester.

The bust portion of the babydoll consists of lace -- so that part is sheer. The lower half of the chemise is solid, black fabric -- meaning it is opaque in nature. The lower portion of the chemise is lined with a little scalloped edging. The scalloped edging, and the lace, are ridiculously itchy! I originally thought that I could at least use this piece to sleep in, but the lace itches my chest so much, that I find it impossible for me to wear without a cami under it -- and that just looks silly. The lace also feels very cheap, and I don't believe that it'll hold up well.

The opaque fabric does feel comfortable, and durable, though. In fact, it's almost silky to the touch. The back of the babydoll consists of just the solid black fabric.

There are three buttons holding the lace portion of the babydoll together. You can undo the buttons easily for easy access, but it's just as easy to slip the babydoll off.
Experience
Babydoll cont.
The absolute biggest issue that I have with the babydoll is the fit! There is NO bust support. In fact, the bust isn't even meant to be fitted. I wish that there was some elastic, or something, under the lace panel, to offer some hint of support, and to kind of pull the underbust in a little for a sexier silhouette. As it is? It's just unflattering.

The lower portion of the babydoll just flows out -- not much to it. It'd be okay if the top of it was more flattering.

The babydoll also has adjustable straps.

Panties:
They're made of 100% polyester, and they're opaque. For the most part, they're comfortable and silky feeling, but they feature a little scalloped border that makes them itchy.

They provide full coverage in the back (assuming you don't have a lot of junk in your trunk), as well as the front. The sides are just the little, thin straps.

There is no pantyliner.

Caring for the set:
Well... I tossed the peignoir, but if you decide to keep it? You're going to want to hand wash it, and line dry it. The panties and babydoll, however, can be machine washed warm, on the gentle cycle. The tag also says that you can tumble dry those two pieces on low.

Quality:
Not great. The peignoir feels cheap, and the panties look like they're going to fall apart quickly. The babydoll is decent quality, though -- if you can get past the fraying edges on the lace.

The buttons are also sewn on very poorly. It won't be long before they fall off, that's for sure!

For the price, this piece was a total let down -- but at least I know not to waste my money on the other colors now!
Follow-up commentary
If I'm being honest, I hate everything about this set.

I threw out the peignoir, as it is SO unflattering. The babydoll was kept, as I thought that maybe I could find a way to make it work in time. Nope -- still hate it, and I think I always will. I just don't believe that this set is going to flatter anyone. So, my advice? Avoid this one!
