It's Electric

The Electric Blue line by Coquette has to be the lingerie line that has caught my eye the most lately. It's so different from everything else I own. The pop of the color is just as vibrant in person as it is in the photos. The design is sexy and beautiful. The boning cinches in some while remaining comfortable. The underwire cups give good support. There was one area the boning was popping up on, but I was able to push it back down. Otherwise, this is a perfect piece of lingerie.

extremely useful review
The Lace Bustier is part of Coquette's Electric Blue line. The line also includes a corset, babydoll, and chemise. The bustier does not come with any bottoms. It includes removable garters. It has padded, underwire cups.

PACKAGING

The bustier is wrapped in plastic. It is placed on a padded Coquette hanger.

SIZING

The bustier comes in sizes S, M, and L. I have this in the medium. For a medium I should wear a dress size 8-10. My bust should be a B cup measuring between 36"-38". My waist should measure between 28"-30". My hips should measure between 38"-40".

The medium bustier is 16" long. It is 13" under the bust. Each cup is 6.25" across and 4.5" down. At the waist is 13". The bottom is 13.25". The straps are adjustable. The back has two rows of hook and eye closures for adjusting size. These are spaced .5" apart. The garters are removable and adjustable.

My actual dress size is a 6. I wear a 34DD/36D bra. My waist is 28" and my hips are 39". This fits me perfectly on the tightest hook and eye setting. There is room left by adjusting the closures. It is accurate to the size chart and should fit the measurements it has listed.

The bust is padded. The cups still fit my D/DD breasts, but I did have to push them down a little to keep them from spilling over. The extra padding gives a lot of oomph to my chest. The padding should help breast sizes smaller than mine to fit well in the cups. Cup sizes over a D may find the padding causes a tight squeeze into the cups. The padding is part of the material and likely cannot be removed (unless you're much more handy than I am).

MATERIAL

The material is 80% nylon and 20% spandex exclusive of trim. This applies to the inner layer of the bustier. It is a shiny black material that feels similar to a bathing suit. It is comfortable against the skin and can be worn for extended periods. It causes no itching or discomfort.

The other materials are the blue lace, blue mesh, and the black lace at the bottom. I'll go into these in the Design section, but I wanted to show you a close up of the materials here:

DESIGN

The cups begin with a small blue bow attached at the top of each cup. These are not removable. The cups themselves are done in the blue floral lace. This lace is placed on top of the black bathing suit-like material which can be seen through the lace.

Right down the middle is a panel. The middle of the panel is done in blue mesh. Through this blue mesh the black material is slightly visible. It in runched up for effect. On either side of the mesh is a strip of lace with blue ribbon intertwined in it. The rest of the front of the bustier is done in the blue lace the cups are.

The bottom of the bustier has two large bows attached. These are attached via safety pin and removable. There are three layers to the bottom. There is a small black lace layer. This is followed by a runched layer of the blue mesh. It finishes with a longer layer which is made of the bathing suit material with the black lace at the bottom.

The back is done in only the blue lace. It has the same lace bottom as the front. It has the two row closure on it, done in black.

BONING

The bustier is made with plastic boning. The plastic boning has some bend to it but still squeezes you in. It does this without making it impossible to move or breathe. It's not as much cinch as you might get with metal boning, but it does do something for the waist.

Each side has three straight lines of boning. The middle has four lines of boning which curve slightly in to the middle. There is a black panel across the center.

QUALITY

There are some loose threads to be found near some of the seams. The seaming all lines up nicely and doesn't look hastily done. There is one piece of boning on the right side that pokes out a little. This caused some stabbing in the arm. I found that if I moved it around a little and pushed the boning downward that this seemed to fix the problem.

CARE

This bustier should be hand washed only. It should be line dried. Do not place it in the drier, bleach it, or iron it.
Experience
I got both the bustier and corset in this line. The corset was a flop (you can read my review here). I was worried the bustier might be a flop as well. I'm glad to say it was not. The corset lacked definition of the breasts, which the bustier has. The electric blue coloring is to die for. It's something I don't have any of in my lingerie collection and it may just be my new favorite color. It's so bright and vibrant. It catches the eye when you see it and keeps attention directed to it.

The design of the bustier is gorgeous. The lace detailing gives a delicate yet sexy vibe. I feel very sexy when I wear this bustier, like all eyes are on me.

I love the way this fits me. It cinches my waist in ever so slightly but I can move, breathe, and eat in it without problem. I found it comfortable to wear aside from the one piece of boning that was coming up. Once I pushed this down, I didn't have any more issues with it. I like padded bras for the extra lift, so the padding didn't cause any issue for me. It does make me look a little bit overly boob-y, but I can deal with that. The underwire of the cups gives a good amount of support for a lingerie piece.

My husband much prefers the bustier to the corset in this line. He's not as big of a fan of the blue as I am, saying he prefers the red/pink/black motif I've always had. I guess change can be difficult. He does say it looks sexy on and I think that if I ever bother to attach the garters and pair this with some stockings I could have him seeing what I see in this beautiful bustier.

I can't think of anything I don't like about this piece. It's stunning, comfortable, and makes me feel sexy. It's everything lingerie should be.
