Fully reversible corset and thong - corset discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Fully Reversible Corset and Thong by DreamGirl is available in sizes 32-38. I purchased the size 38. Someone had once told me that they purchase their size based on the size of their bra band. I wear a 38 band so I went with that size. My first corset that was a 38 fit me well so I just went with that size on.

It arrived on a black hanger surrounded by plastic. There was no text or photos on the bag. The hanger would be excellent to use to store the corset when not being worn. The corset comes with a matching thong and a pair of black thigh highs.

Attached to the corset were a few cardboard tags. The tags stated the company name, website, product name, size, colour, material composition, and care instructions. There was also a photo of a model wearing the outfit on one of the tags. There is no care tag to the corset because it’s reversible. The extra cardboard tags give you the information that would have been on the care tag.



The thong is 100% polyester. The material to the thong is not stretchy but the waistband is elastic band so that can be stretched. The thong is not sheer. The stockings are 90% nylon and 10% spandex. Like most stockings, they are very stretchy. The stockings are sheer. The corset is 85% cotton and 15% polyester. The corset has two black panels at the back of the piece. These black panels can be stretched but the rest of the corset cannot be. The corset is not sheer.

Corset
Adjustable garter strap length: 6 ½ - 10 ½ inches

Length down centre back: 10 ¼ inches

The corset has hook and eye closures down the centre front of the piece. There are 18 in total. The product page shows the hook and eye closures as a silver metal but they’re actually black. The back of the corset has lacing down the centre back. This can be loosened/tightened depending on the width that you need. The lacing is done with a black ribbon. If you needed more width than the ribbon provides, you could always replace the lace. The measurements I had taken above were with the lacing done up the way it arrived- there was a ½ inch gap between the lacing.

The corset is reversible. The one side to the corset is blue with a black lace overlay. The other side to the corset is a solid blue colour. The two panels at the centre back that are stretchy are approximately 3 ¼ inches wide each. The corset has 4 garter straps and 2 shoulder straps. All of the straps are both adjustable and detachable.

The product page lists the boning to the corset as metal- but it’s not. There are 10 plastic boning pieces to the corset: 4 down the front, 4 in the back, and 1 on each side. There is a thick black embroidered looking trim along both the top and bottom of the piece. The trim goes all the way around to the back of the corset and is ¾ of an inch in length.



The thong matches the one side of the corset perfectly. The material is the same as the corset- blue with a black lace overlay. It’s very pretty but sadly, the front of the thong is rather thin. For myself personally, I know I need more width to cover the area. It’s too bad because it’s so darn pretty! There is also a lining in the crotch. Below is a photo of the thong, one of the shoulder straps, and a garter strap.



The stockings were in their own packaging. The stockings were wrapped around a thin cardboard piece and surrounded by plastic. They are black, sheer, and very thin. The band at the top of the stockings is ¾ of an inch. The band is 4 inches wide unstretched and I could stretch them to about 12 inches wide. The length of the stocking is 22 inches unstretched and they can stretch to 60 inches. The toe area is reinforced to the stockings.

So I’m 5’6 in height and the length of the corset was good for me at the centre front. Depending on the length of your torso, this may or may not be the case for you too. The hook and eye closures down the centre front do not have a flap of fabric behind them since it’s reversible. What this means is that you’ll have a bit of skin showing through the hook and eye closured area.

The length of the corset at the sides and back were a bit short for my taste since I prefer to keep these areas covered. Then again, I wear this type of piece out in public. If I were wearing it in the bedroom, it wouldn’t be an issue. One thing I was disappointed with is that the loop to attach the shoulder strap to had torn, so I was unable to wear the shoulder straps with the outfit. I’ll eventually sew something together but it was still rather annoying.



The back of the corset laced up well on me and there was still a bit of lace left to add more width if you need it. Like I mentioned, you could always replace the lace if you need the width. Since there is no modesty panel behind the lacing, the more you need to add width, the more skin will be exposed.

My partner wasn’t around when I put the corset on but it’s really simple to do by yourself if you don’t have anyone around to help. What I usually do is loosen the lacing down the centre back just a bit, and then try to hook the hook and eye closures up at the front. If I haven’t added enough width, I just do the same thing until I have the width I need.

There is no padding or underwire in the corset since it is reversible. The issue that I had was that when I tried the corset on reversed (the lace on the inside), it rubbed against my nipples the wrong way. If you wear the corset with the solid blue on the outside, you’ll want to wear nipple covers. Though, that will still leave you with the lace rubbing against the rest of your skin.

When the corset has the lace sitting on the outside, it’s comfortable to wear. The solid blue on the inside of the corset is non-irritating to the skin. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried.

Overall, It’s a cute corset but I feel like the product page stock photo shows a completely different corset (the solid blue side). Firstly, the solid blue in the stock photo does not look shiny at all- but it is. Also, the hook and eye closures are silver in the stock photo but black on the actual corset I received. The fact that the lace irritates the skin (and nipples) when worn reversed was a bit disappointing and the fact that it arrived with a loophole for the shoulder strap already broken.
