Black dress to impress - mini dress discontinued by Espiral - review by Kissy

The "wetlook" is one of my favorite looks for sexy bedroom wear. You will see many more reviews on "wetlook" items in the future from me. Trust me! They are affordable and in my opinion, VERY flattering! This was the very first "wetlook" item I ever purchased, and where my love for "wetlook" started!

Packaging: Basic Espiral
The packaging for the Black Dress to Impress – mini dress by Espiral was simple and typical to most Espiral items I have received. The dress came wrapped in a cardboard cutout with a model photo, and details of the care and dress. The outside packaging was plastic and about the size of a hardcover book.

The packaging was not discreet, since there were photos of the model in different dresses and outfits all over it. It is not practical for re-use. I just assume hang this dress up with the two straps that are sewn inside the dress, so it doesn't get wrinkles.

This dress is stunning. I love tube dresses and think they work well with a variety of body types. I am a hourglass shape, and I think that this dress looks great on my wide hips. The dress doesn't accentuate them like some other dress fabrics do (like knit fabrics). The dress would be flattering on many shapes.

Obviously the biggest design feature is the eye catching zig zag studded bodice accents. The cutouts remind me of a fierce animal ripping out portions of this dress. In other words, they kind of remind me of claw prints... with little sequin studs on them :) The claw cut outs don't go all the way around the dress. They stop at the sides. This is nice for if you wanted to wear a strapless bra with it. You don't have to worry about it peeking through. The ripped look is in two different sections and it takes up most of the middle portion of the dress. I think they add some good dynamic to the dress and make it more than just a plain wetlook tube dress.


For sizing, I ordered the size SMALL. I normally wear size 4-6 in dresses and jeans. I have a 34D bust. I am 5'4" and my hips are about 36"-38". The length of this dress from (top to hem) is 22". I say the sizing is right, if not a little small. Do note, it is very short - just under my bum - after all!

Care/ Maintenance: Delicate Care Ahead!
I suggest hanging this dress up since the wetlook items can get wrinkled easily. The dress can be easily hung on a pants hanger, clipped at the top or on a standard hanger, since there are small hanging strings sewn in on the inside.

As for laundering, there is a tag sewn in on the inside side of the dress stating the size, washing instructions and fabric. It is best to hand wash only with a mild detergent. Do not ever use bleach, do not iron and drip dry. If you follow these instructions, the dress will last longer.

The wetlook material is stretchy and comfortable. There is enough give to this dress, that you don't need to be a stick to fit into it! It does show objects right through it though since it is so thin - like nipple or belly button rings. There is no lining, just the one solid piece.

The studs on the cutouts aren't actual sequins sewn on... they are like those shiny, sticky studs you find on some clubwear. They are ironed on sticker sequins... Do they have a different name? ;) Anyway, I prefer these, they are less itchy and I feel like they stay on better. I scrapped them with my finger a little and there is no sign of them coming off easily - kind of shocking!

Overall, it feels well made and sturdy. It is sewn well and has good stitching. The seams are complete and strong, a very solid dress. The item is medium-weight and feels like it will last it's fair share of bedroom fun.

Personal Experience :
Personally, I wouldn't wear this out of the house, unless I wore it as a shirt. But back in my younger days - I would have totally worn this to the club, or to Vegas! But as for now-a-days, it's bedroom wear only. I am sure the hubby appreciates it that way.

If I did choose to wear it out and a shirt, it could be done with some tight leggings that didn't ride too far up (you don't want to see the leggings through the cut outs - um, tacky.) Or maybe even some booty shorts if I was daring.

YES! This dress is a YES! Even after almost a year, this is one of my go-to sexy dresses in the bedroom (and bedroom only). It is hot, hot, hot! I am so happy with the way it has held up. It has stretched out some, but only enough to fit my body shape. It is not loose by any means. It has been hand washed a few times, but I try not to wash it very much. I love this dress, and for the price... I would get it again!
