Black lace petticoat - petticoat discontinued by Coquette - review by debo

This looked so cute in the pictures; I just had to have it. I'm not sure why, but there it is! It arrived in a clear plastic bag on a hanger. The hanger is cheap and I tossed it as this is not something I will likely use to hang the petticoat back on. The quality of this petticoat is good. There were a few loose strings hanging at the seams and it puzzled me as the strings were white and my petticoat is black but that is a mystery for another day. This is manufactured by Coquette and made of Polyester. I got the XL and had no problems with fit. The tag has symbols for care, which include to hand wash, not to machine wash or dry, and no ironing. I would also recommend laying it out flat to dry or hanging it to dry to maintain the shape.

The first time I wore this was over pantyhose so I did not notice any scratchy feeling from the material. The second time I wore it was with thigh highs and boy was I scratching. The material is lacy and where the seams are sewn together is coarse and itchy. I would recommend wearing something under it unless you do not intend to wear it for long. The waistband is elastic with three small plastic snaps on it to make it somewhat adjustable. The snaps are placed within an inch and a half together, so you will not be able to adjust it much. Elastic is stretchy, so this slides on and off with out using the snaps. I got the black one as I thought it would go with everything I have purchased so far. My husband loved the way this looked on me. He said the hint of hiney showing at the rear was enticing and really turned him on.

As a petticoat this is not very full as it only has two layers of lace on the bottom half. If you need it to make an outfit fuller this will not accomplish that. As a former square dancer I know what a petticoat can do to fluff out a dress. This does not do anything close to that. The top half is only one layer and is a beautiful flowery pattern. This comes in three colors, red, white and black, and I want all three. I would recommend this for the hint of lace that will show under a dress or skirt and the cuteness factor.

This is still a favorite of mine. I love the way it makes me feel when I am wearing it and my husband likes the way I look. It does not make things poofy when you wear it under a skirt or such, but as a costume piece... wonderful. The possibilities are endless. On its own, with hose, tights, or body stockings, or under an outfit, this an item everyone can use.
