Orchid ruffled front dress - mini dress discontinued by Espiral - review by Breas

This dress is fantastic. I fell in love with it the first time I had seen it. I ordered the size XL in “Dark Orchid” which is the purple colour. I don’t really go anywhere where I could wear this and still be considered dressed appropriately, but I thought it would be a great addition to my lingerie drawer.

This dress would be excellent to wear to a club, or similar location, if you don’t mind being exposed. The plunging neckline goes down to your belly button, and your entire back is revealed. The dress is also quite short, so confidence with your body is important for this dress, regardless of where you plan on wearing it.

The dress arrived in plastic packaging, folded neatly beneath a cardboard insert. The cardboard makes up the front and the back of the package. The front piece of the cardboard shows a model in the dress, the brand’s name, the size and style number. The back of the cardboard piece has a back view of the dress on a model, other style dresses available by the brand, care instructions and dress materials.

The photos below show the packaging, but I had taken the photos after I had already opened the package and looked at the dress. So the photos make the packaging look odd, but it is because I did not fold the dress perfectly before stuffing it back into the package for photos.





When I took the dress out of the packaging, I tried it on immediately. The dress is not hard to get into, and has a really great stretch to it. If you are a bit larger then an XL, you should still be able to fit into the dress fine because of how stretchy it is. Personally, I do not find this dress to run small; it seems to be quite true to size. The material of the dress is Polyester 93% and Elastan 7%; the jewellery hardware on the chest is metal.

The measurements I have taken are of the dress as is (not stretched).

Lower back to bottom of dress: 11 ½ inches
Waist: 15 inches
Strap (where it meets the dress) to bottom of dress: 28 inches
Neck straps: 19 inches each
Back ties (where they meet the dress, to end of tie): 22 inches each

There is no padding in the chest area, but the ruffles cover up this area so you do not necessarily need any nipple covers, etc. The ruffles near the waist on the dress are also quite forgiving. When I was wearing the dress, I found that the ruffles hid my chunky stomach area (which is my favourite aspect of this dress to be honest).





The hardware on the dress is attached with just a few stitches. I suggest making a few more stitches to ensure that the hardware is more secure on the dress. There are three metal circles; the two on the outside are full circles with black inside of them. The middle circle is hollow. It would have been nice if the two outer circles were filled in with a purple colour, but that’s just me being picky.

The jewellery hardware is not very solid, so you’ll have to be a bit careful with it when wearing it, and caring for the dress to ensure it does not fall apart. This dress is the second dress I’ve had from the Espiral Brand, and it seems that all of the jewellery hardware is of the same quality (not as solid as it should be).



To care for the dress, the instructions on the package state the following:

-Wash Separately
-Drip Dry
-Do Not Bleach

The dress gets a 5 out of 5 from me, because it’s comfortable, fits perfectly, hides the tummy area, is my favourite colour (purple), has ruffles, is gorgeous, and my partner said it’s his favourite piece that I have worn so far! I wish they had more colours available, as I would collect them all!

I still LOVE the Orchid Ruffled Front Dress! It's still one of my favourite pieces because it just fits so perfectly, and hides my flawed areas with the front layers of ruffles. I've actually thrown this in the washing machine, and the item was fine. I'll continue to just use the washing machine and dryer because it's easier than drip drying, etc. Surprisingly, the hardware is still attached to the dress, but I don't know how long this will last for. If it does fall off, I'll just resew it on though since it wouldn't be too hard of a task. I wish this dress came in red, blue, etc so I could have a rainbow collection of this piece!
