Okay, so the promo shot for the White Satin Corset by Coquette should be in a textbook on how not to Photoshop a model. All that aside, I decided to take a chance on this corset to see if pictures could be deceiving, and I'm glad I did, this corset is actually pretty cute.

The corset arrived in the usual plastic bag covering, but no where in sight was the usual padded satin hanger that most Coquette lingerie comes on. I was a little disappointed by the omission of that detail.

The White Satin Corset has 10 pieces of plastic boning around the entire piece. It features a rhinestone zipper up the front and has an adjustable eye and hook closure up the back. The white satin material is quite soft and smooth, the inside is lined with a cotton like material that is soft against the skin. No complaints on the materials. On inspection, there were no loose threads, runs in the material or any noticeable defects.


When laid open, the corset (in size Medium) measures from end to end at 29 inches. I measured it at the shortest point (armpit to hip) and it was 11 inches. To give the corset more stretch, two Lycra panels are sewn in on either side next to the hook and eye closures. The Lycra panels measure 2 1/2 inches and will stretch to 4 inches, giving you about 1 1/2 inches of give on either side, or a total of 3 inches extra. This ensures for a nice snug fit. The hook and eye closure is pretty standard and has two sets of eyes that allows for a little more room if put on the "larger" set.


This corset features a ruffle trim around the top and bottom of the corset. I was really worried that the trim would be stiff and itchy and since it runs right the way around the corset top, that it would irritate my under arms. The trim is made from a soft mesh-like material, not at all scratchy as feared; in fact I don't even notice it when wearing the corset and gives it a really pretty feminine look


The rhinestone zipper down the front is another pretty detail on this corset; from a distance, it adds a subtle sparkle to the white fabric. Up close, it actually doesn't look like a zipper at all when closed but just a line of rhinestones up the front. One word of caution is that the zipper is a little tricky to zip up when putting it on, it likes to be laid flat. I don't recommend doing up the back and trying to zip into this corset, you may hit a snag.


To give you an idea of fit, these are my rough measurements:
Bust: 36 inches (I wear a 34 D in bra size)
Waist: 31 Inches
Hips: 36 inches

The Size Chart here says I fit somewhere between a Medium and a Large. I went with a medium because I like the snugger fit and since this corset is not as adjustable as a lace up back, I was concerned about it not being tight enough to stay up. As you can see, the corset is cut a little higher at the hips, but not as high as the promo shots led me to believe.

Because the boning is plastic and there are no cups with under wires in this piece, I did find that I was lacking a little support from the corset up top. I think those with a slightly smaller cup size may enjoy this piece quite a bit, but bustier girls may find that this corset is not quite for them.

Washing instructions on the tag recommend to hand wash and hang to dry.

When I originally showed the picture of the corset to my husband, his first reaction was extreme skepticism. Again, I think the model in the promo pictures doesn't do the corset justice. When I put it on, he raved about the look; he loves the high cut at the hip and says it gives the illusion of a girl's legs being longer. He ended up admitting that this was a nice surprise and the corset is much prettier on a real person.

A cute corset for play time, but alas I was unable to find a way to wear it outside of the bedroom. I am noticing that, with time, the zipper is getting really finicky about zipping up and needs to be laid flat to do up. It also snags a lot when unzipping, which can be frustrating, to say the least.
