Lace halter mini dress - mini dress discontinued by Coquette - review by SMichelle

I bought this bedroom dress on a whim -- not really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised when I tore into my package to see this beautiful number. I was even more surprised when I tried it on and glanced in the mirror -- I looked GOOD! I immediately snapped a picture of myself in this gorgeous number, and e-mailed it to my significant other. His response? "WOW. KEEP THAT!" ..Now, to explain how big of a response that is? My boyfriend is one of those men who says that I have too much clothes, and more lingerie than I could ever need. Truth is, he's probably right -- but the point is, this piece wow'd him so much that he insisted I keep it.

Basics:
The lace halter mini dress is made by Coquette. This is technically a two piece set, though the packaging lists it as being one piece. The two pieces are the halter dress itself, and the strap that goes under your busts. The reason that I say this is two pieces, is because under bust strap is removable.

If you're curious, the packaging states that it was made in China.

Wearing:
Despite the fact that Coquette has chosen to refer to this item as a dress, it's definitely not a piece that you'll want to wear out of the house (unless you're preforming in some sort of adult show). The item is see-through, and obviously extremely revealing. For this reason, this is a bedroom dress -- an extremely sexy bedroom dress, at that.

I enjoy to wear this mini-dress with a great pair of high heels, but truthfully? This dress doesn't need anything else. Just throw on the dress, and you're sure to impress.

Material:
This item is made out of 82% Nylon and 18% Spandex, exclusive of the trim. I am assuming that this primarily refers to the mesh.

The mesh on this dress is quite stretchy. It is also very soft and comfortable on the skin. Furthermore, the mesh feels like it's high quality. I genuinely believe that this piece will hold up to the test of time, as the fabric doesn't feel like it's going to rip -- even when I'm a bit rough with it.

The upper half of the dress is made out of a gorgeous floral lace. The floral lace is subtly decorated with silver glitter, and honestly, it's beyond beautiful. It should be noted that the lace is less stretchy than the mesh portion. The lace is soft, and not itchy like some lace can be. I truly love wearing this, and could do so for hours without being annoyed by the fabric.

Next, we have the underbust band. The band appears to be made out of some sort of some velvet like material. It's stretchy, but it's meant to fit snug. For this reason, some people might feel like it's a bit too small. For me, I do find that it fits snugly, but I also find that it's quite comfortable.

Care:
It's best to hand wash this item. The tag does not state what sort of water to use, so I just use cold water, as it won't ruin my beautiful bedroom dress. Once you've washed this, you're going to want to allow it to line dry.

As for storage, I simply store this in a drawer with my other lingerie.

Unfortunately this dress is only available in One Size Fits Most.

One size fits most should fit someone with the following measurements:
Cup size: B
Bust: 34-40"
Waist: 26-32"
Hips: 36-40"

Looking at the photograph of the item, I could tell that my waist size didn't really matter. After all, this is essentially an open piece on the top. I was, however, worried that my large C/small D breasts wouldn't fit. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my breasts fit in this amazingly!

My 40" hips also fit comfortably.

My underbust measures about 32", and I'm able to wear the underbust strap comfortably. That being said, it is snug -- but it's supposed to be.

To give you some idea of how this dress will fit, I took some measurements.
The underbust strap measures 26" unstretched, and 35" stretched. It's about an inch thick.
Laying flat, the skirt part measures 14" unstretched, and 20.5" stretched, across the waistband.
The skirt portion is about 10" in length.
The strips that cover your breast are about 6" wide, though it does get narrower as you get towards the halter tie. They're about 21" long.
The halter tie ribbons are 1.5" thick.

Design:
The design of this set is truly beautiful.

The top portion consists of two wide strips of lace. As stated previously, the strips are about 6" long. The strips of lace are meant to cover your breasts, leaving the center open (providing a sort of peekaboo window, if you will).

The lace on the strips has a stunning floral pattern, with wavy edges. They're also decorated with silver glitter, though it's done very subtly so it's not overwhelming. At the top of the lace panels, the piece ties in a halter neck style tie. The ties are made out of soft ribbon.

There is a seam that goes down the center of the lace strips. I thought that I would find the seam annoying, but I actually find that it adds something visually to the dress. The seam also does not annoy me at all while I'm wearing this.

The seam has two little holes where the underbust band is meant to go. The underbust band hooks in the back, like a bra would. There are three possible closure settings for it. The underbust band features a beautiful heart that is decorated with rhinestone like gems.

The underbust belt seems to serve the purpose of keeping the lace panels in place. That being said, you could surely wear this item without the underbust strap (I have, on a few occasions). Just be aware that if you do wear this without the underbust strap, it'll be more likely to open up.

As for breast support? Sadly this piece doesn't offer much, but for me that wasn't a huge deal. The underbust strap will offer you some support, but even then... don't expect much from this dress.

The lower portion of the dress is the mesh skirt. The mesh skirt is solid black, which provides a nice contrast to the lace top. All in all, the skirt is very simple, but it does have an adorable little ruffle on the bottom of it.

Packaging:
This comes in your basic cardboard box, which features a photograph of the model on it. The packaging is not really suitable for storage, in my opinion.

Quality:
The quality is excellent. I didn't notice a single flaw in craftsmanship, design, or overall quality. Truly it's an excellent piece.

I really love this piece. Despite my extremely large lingerie collection, this piece still makes regular appearances in my sex life. It's sexy, and it makes me feel really self-confident.

It's just too bad that it's been discontinued, as I would've picked up another one just in case.
