Domestic goddess - costume discontinued by Leg Avenue - review by Fierce Like Tiger

I was so excited to get this piece of lingerie. I was hoping to use it for a boudoir shoot, unfortunately I did not realize how sheer it was. That was my mistake the item description clearly says "sheer", and it is. The main fabric of the "apron" is a sheer pink chiffon. Its almost a hot pink color, but because of the sheerness of it, it looks more muted on. By my measurements the apron is 21 inches long from the middle front to the middle bottom. It is 10 inches wide at the very top, 11 inches in the middle (just before it flares out at the bottom)it is 35 inches wide at the very widest part (the part that wraps around and just slightly covers your bottom. I wear a size 12, and this fit just fine. The straps are each 19 inches long, enough to tie a full bow. The waist ties are hot pink as well, but not sheer. They are just plain 1.5 inch wide pink ribbon. The neck ties are 23.5 inches long and are made of the sheer pink chiffon that the apron is made of, edged in white lace which measures .5 inches in width. The lace is sewn so that it folds in, over the pink, so the resulting strap is 1 inch wide. The sides of the apron are edged in the same .5 inch lace. The top and bottom edges are edged in thicker white cotton eyelet lace. The thicker lace is 1.75 inches wide, and has a yellow ribbon woven through it. There are two hearts on the apron, at about where my hip bones start (The bottom of the hearts start .75 inches above the top of the bottom row of thick lace), they are made of baby pink and white gingham with yet another type of eyelet lace around them Each heart is 5.5 inches wide at the widest part and each has a small pink bow adorning the top made of a thinner version of the waist strap ribbon. In the middle of the top edging there is another, larger, pink bow. The yellow "Kiss the Cook" seems to be screen printed on. There is a red heart dotting the i in kiss. Though it seems sturdy at the moment, I wonder how long the lettering will hold up before it starts peeling.

The thong is made of the same pink chiffon as the apron with matching pink elastic. The triangle seemed small on me, and is definitely lowrise, measuring only 5 inches from top to bottom. Though the thong itself fit just fine, it was VERY much a lowrise thong.

The lingerie came with no washing instructions. There is a tag on it, which lists the fabric content as 80% nylon and 20% spandex.The tag also reads that it is made in Taiwan, but the washing directions are in Spanish. From the symbols it appears that it should be handwashed. The apron itself, since is has so many straps and seems so delicate is one that I did not try washing in the washing machine, even with a garment bag. The thong did just fine, I wash panties in the washing machine (I did put it in the garment bag on delicate). I washed the apron by hand in the sink with some Woolite and it did just fine.

Now for the gloves. I was so happy that this set came with gloves, I really loved them. They feel great, very silky and stretchy. I am assuming they are made up of mostly spandex, though there was no tag on or in them, and nothing on the box as to what it actually is made of.There is a large pink bow (that matches the ties and the bows on the apron) on the wrist of each glove. there is also the same eyelet cotton lace with yellow ribbon woven through that edges the bottom and top of the apron at the end of each glove. That is the downfall of this set. I have very small hands, small wrists, and average size forearms. The lace on the edge does not stretch, and they sewed it to spandex that does... problem being that if you have larger hands you won't be able to get the gloves on because your hand won't fit through the hole! I can get them on okay, but they don't pull up much past my wrist because the opening is so small. The opening is only 9 inches wide, which seems large, but when it comes down to it, really isn't. So I would think you would have to be smaller to use the gloves. That part was very disappointing.

The overall fit of the apron seemed pretty narrow in the top part, though my husband didn't complain. It did not cover either breast totally, but it appears it didn't on the model either. The fabric stretches in width, but not lengthwise, and wouldn't stay stretched over my breasts. Also, I am 5'6", and though I have a longer waist, the apron seemed short. I could of course loosen the neck straps, but to make it fall where I felt it should, my breasts were exposed. Overall, I liked it, and it wasn't that big of an issue that it was short (hey, its supposed to be revealing!) but it just wasn't what I thought it would be, and without the gloves, or having the gloves stay bunched up at my wrists, the outfit didn't have quite the look I wanted. It wasn't very flattering, though it wasn't awful either. It is fun for a real housewife, or for role playing!

I still wish the gloves were larger, but I have continued to try to stretch them and they are slightly bigger. My husband LOVES this, and I actually did use it in a boudior shoot and the photos are adorable!
