Not Just For Men! (S)

These pajama pants might seem a bit steep in price, but compared to other similar items they're actually not that bad. They're soft like jersey knit cotton, but breathe nicer and won't overheat you. They're stretchy, and will fit a lot larger than the sizing chart indicates. Overall, a worthwhile addition to your sleepy pants collection.

So what exactly are these?

These are silk pajama pants. They're comfortable, will fit a variety of sizes, and won't suffocate you when you're sleeping. They're a bit fragile, but still pretty durable.

Can you tell me a bit about the packaging? How about the materials and care?

The packaging was actually pretty nice on these. They came in a nice box that had a picture of a model wearing them on the front, and the back had a little blurb about the company and the product. The bottom has a simplified sizing chart, and the back also gives you information on sizing, materials, and care. You can also find the size/materials/care on a tag located inside the pants as well. These pants are 100% silk and should be machine washed in cold water and tumble dried with no heat. You can also hand wash them if you feel so inclined.

Cool. What about the sizing?

These are available in a S-XL, and since I got this pair for me, I got it in a small. On the Men's sizing chart, that just means 28-30. If I remember correctly, that usually translates to waist size, although I think this ends up being worn more on the hips. Regardless, it's got quite a wide range that it will fit. I'm 5'2" with an inseam of about 29". Around the top of my hips (where I would wear these) is about 34 1/2" and around the widest part of my butt is about 39" and these were able to fit there without digging in at all.

For the size small, I'd say you could get away with being anywhere from 28-39" around where you were planning on wearing it. You'll be best off with an inseam of 30" or more, but if they're too long you can always roll them a bit.

Awesome! Can you tell me a bit more about the pants themselves?

Sure! They're definitely soft, and dare I say, silky? They feel very nice beneath the fingers and on the skin, but they'll snag on just about anything. You can feel that when you run your hand over them, they feel like if you had rough hands that your skin would catch on them. I've got a few snags from catching mine on stuff, but nothing that's caused any serious damage. They're stretchy, and a bit see through. One might even go as far as to say that they look and feel like a pair of underwear with really long legs.

The waistband measures about 13" across unstretched, and stretches up to about 24" across. There's a lot of room for the butt and the junk, with about 12" between the top of the waistband and the bottom of the crotch, and then going down about 30" to the bottom of the leg. With about 14" from the crotch to the edge of the leg when laid flat, there's plenty of room for even the meatiest of thighs.

Were they comfortable? How was wearing them?

Wearing them was really nice actually. My husband and I each have a pair, and we wore them to bed together one night. It was rather warm, and I was able to sleep comfortably under the covers without feeling like the pants were suffocating my legs at all; whether through being too warm or being too restrictive. Something interesting that we found was that it transferred heat between us very nicely. Now, this wasn't so desirable when it was warm, but I can see it coming in handy when it gets cold again. Sharing the warmth without causing any sweat? Perfect! The only downside there is that when the blankets come off I get a sudden rush of cool air that feels like I'm almost wearing nothing at all.

Those sound really cool! What's the quality like? Do you think they're worth the price?

The quality seems pretty good overall. Aside from feeling like they're going snag on everything, they seem to hold up pretty well. I have a few snags from where I did catch them on something, just what I have no idea, but there are a few spots all the same. However there's nothing that seems like it's going to compromise anything. There were no loose threads and the hem was done up nicely. As far as the price goes, at first I was like "no way!" but after doing more research, these aren't expensive as far as silk pants goes. They're more worth it if you can get them at a discount, but they're not overpriced in my opinion.

Got any pictures?

Sure do! I've got my usual front/side/back along with a shot through the material to try and show you just how thin it is.

Experience
I both do and don't like these. I had hoped that they would be more satin like, but I'm just as happy with them feeling like a really soft jersey knit cotton. I like that they're comfortable, I like that I can easily sleep in them, I like that they don't feel like they're suffocating my legs. I don't like that it feels like every little thing I do is going to snag them up. Overall though I'm pretty happy with them.

Like $60 for pants that will snag. They look cozy, but unless they go on sale I'm not sure I'll be getting them.

Even if they snag easily, they look like they'd be super nice for summer because of how thin they are. Cheers!
