Not To Be Worn Outside The Bedroom

The French Curve Dress by DreamGirl should not be mistaken for a dress that would work well in public. The dress is rather short, the material is so thin that nipple outlines show through, and the material grabs every sort of "flaw" that you'd wish it wouldn't. Personally, I won't wear this dress unless my lingerie drawer is empty, but maybe you'll like it.

extremely useful review
The French Curve Dress by DreamGirl is available in sizes S-XL. I purchased the XL and was hoping that I could pair the dress with leggings and wear it out in public.

The dress arrived on a black, plastic hanger. A plastic bag surrounded the outfit. The hanger is excellent to keep for storing the dress when it’s not being worn. There was a cardboard tag attached to the dress with the company name and a photo of a model wearing the outfit. The back of the tag stated the size, colour, and company website.

The dress is 90% polyester and 10% spandex. The entire dress is extremely stretchy. The material does seem to become a bit more sheer the more it stretches, though the material seems to be fairly sheer to begin with. When I held the outfit up, I could see the lacing to the back of the outfit through the front of the dress. The material is ridiculously thin.

I’ve taken measurements of the dress laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements please send me a message and I can get them for you. The dress laced area in the front of the dress (at the chest) and down the back was tied up as it came. You could always loosen or tighten these areas as needed.

Chest (armpit to armpit): 19 inches
“Cup” length: 6 inches
“Cup” width: 8 inches
Width beneath chest area: 15 ½ inches
Length of dress (armpit to bottom): 25 ½ inches
Width of bottom of dress: 20 inches

At the top centre of the dress there is a lace up area. This area is approximately 4 inches in length not stretched. This area laces up with 3 small D-rings on each side. The D-rings are silver coloured and metal. The back of the dress also laces up. The top of the laced area at the back of the dress is approximately 13 ½ inches wide and the laced area curves down to a 1 inch gap. The curve actually wraps around to the front of the dress, though the laced area that shows skin beneath the lacing stops at the lower back of the dress. The rest of the lacing has a black piece of material beneath it so no skin shows. There are 13 D-rings on each side down the back.

Below are photos of the lacing of the dress. The first photo shows the lacing detail at the chest area of the dress, and the second photo shows the lacing detail at the front of the dress, which comes around from the curve in the back.

There is no padding or underwire in the chest. There is also no extra material in the chest so your nipple outline will show through the thin material.

The product page says that the dress comes with “detachable shoulder straps” though it actually doesn’t. I thought that maybe they just forgot to include them with this dress but then I looked on the inside of the top of the dress. There are no loops to attach any straps to.

The material of the dress is very comfortable and I don’t have any complaints of irritation to my skin while wearing it. The care tag states that the dress should be hand washed in cold water and line dried.

As for my experience with this dress… I really didn’t enjoy it. This dress is very thin material and very grabby. The material sticks to every chubby area on me that I’d prefer it didn’t. Also, with no extra material in the chest, my nipple outline is shown through. This could be avoided with nipple pasties, or wearing a bra beneath the dress.

The chest area worked with my C cups, though there is room for extra chest. Also, you can loosen the lacing in the front to add a bit of extra room. The top of the dress has an elastic band in it to hold the top up, though it would have been nice if there were attachable shoulder straps. The larger (heavier) your chest is, the more the top of the dress will be weighed down. Also, because there is no support in the chest, my chest looks nothing like the models. They don’t perk up, nor do they look full. My chest just sort of sits there.
Experience
...continued

I’m 5’6 and the length of the dress wasn’t terrible. It was a bit short, but I was able to pull the dress down to cover all my areas. The dress is really easy to put on because it’s so stretchy. To put the dress on, just pull the dress down over your head, or step into it and pull it up.

I’ve given this dress a 3 out of 5. I personally don’t like the dress, but that doesn’t mean others won’t. It’s just far too tight on my chubby areas, with no support in the chest and no shoulder straps to keep the chest from flopping. If you decide to purchase this dress, I hope it works better for you than it did on me.
Follow-up commentary
I still don't like this dress. It clings to my chubby areas and does not flatter my body at all. I have worn the dress once since my original review to see if my feelings had changed but they hadn't.
