Fairy tale princess - costume discontinued by Coquette - review by married with children

The packaging on this is the standard plastic bag with the snap top to keep it closed. Inside is a cardboard insert with a a model wearing the costume. Since this is a dress up costume and not skimpy lingerie, I would say that the packaging is discreet (child safe). You know what is inside it, not only by the clear plastic but also by the insert; so in that sense it is not discreet. But it is safe for anyone who sees it to not automatically think "sex outfit". We purchased this for Halloween, just to give you a idea about how safe this outfit is. My wife does not dress up and show skin outside of the bedroom. Being "sexy" is something reserved for my eyes only. (That does not mean she does not look nice when we leave the house, or any thing sexist. So don't go there) There is very few costumes on this site that she would wear out of the house, and this is one of them.

Inside the package, you will find the dress and a apple purse. The purse is a simple Velcro closure type. It is about 10 inches wide by 7 inches tall. It is not large and not designed to carry much. This is pretty much there for looks. You could throw in a few items if wearing it out for Halloween, you phone, a small flashlight, ect.. Or if used in the bedroom, it could hold a small vibrator, condoms, lube, ect.. The shoulder strap is about 35 inches long. It was slightly long for my wife's short size, but seeing how she will not be carrying this around everyday it is not a problem. The only part of this purse I did not care too much for, would be the fake leaf they added at the top. I don't think you need this, and it just feels cheap and out of place. I do not see apples at the store with leafs still attached, but I do see cherries with leafs. Sooo?

The dress is cute. I looks like something a Disney princess would wear. I am not sure if they were trying to copy a Disney design, but it looks like it could be. Snow White, maybe?

The dress and purse is made from a mixture of 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. The material feels like Nylon, almost plastic like. It has some stretch to it, both in the vertical and the horizontal. Most lingerie sets and costumes we get only stretch in one direction. This makes it harder to fit the wearer, then something like this that stretches in both directions. It almost has a custom fit look to it. And that is pretty good, considering it only comes in sm/med and med/lg.

This dress comes in a cool color combination. The blue/red/yellow go nicely together. The body of the dress is a nice dark blue, while the shoulders are a baby blue. The skirt is a bright yellow. There is also yellow trim on the body and the shoulders. The body has a red ribbon woven up the front, and it comes together into a bow right between the breasts. There is also some white lace around the skirt and the neck. You can see it better on the product picture then I can describe the color patterns in this review. Just take my word for it, the colors go perfectly together for this princess dress. Any other type of lingerie, and I would not be a fan.

There is no under-wire for breast support. And there is no boning on the body. It kind of looks like there might be from the product picture, with the yellow trim going up vertically on the blue body. But that is all it happens to be, yellow trim. But this costume did not need any boning, as it fit my wife's body well. Some costumes need it to make the costume cling to your body; this costume did not. I could see it being needed if you were on the smaller end of the sizing chart, as it might end up being too baggy on you.

This dress is the perfect height, at least from my point of view. My wife felt it was too short. But it did not show off any thing that she did not want seen outside of the bedroom. It went down to her mid-thigh area. That is longer then most every dress I see while walking around downtown.

My wife is about 5 foot 4 inches, 120 pounds (give or take), and a 34 B cup. We purchased the small/medium. It fit her perfectly. Not too much cleavage was shown. Not too much leg. There is no way someone could see up your skirt without laying on the ground in front of you, or using a mirror. This dress is safe to be worn around all ages.

Overall the quality of this costume is great. I could not find any loose threads or seams. Everything was sewn into place like it should be. Costumes and lingerie is always hit or miss here. Some items are just over the top in quality, others are piss poor. This one is the latter. I can find nothing wrong with the craftsmanship.

To wash this, you need to hand wash and line dry. I hate outfits like this. One, I don't have the time to hand wash outfits. Two I don't have the room to line dry them around the house. Three, most items are not something I want our little boys seeing while they are line drying. So, hand wash is not my first choice when it comes to outfits. Unfortunately you do not know the care instructions until you purchase the item, or read a review that is already done on the item. There were no reviews when we purchased this. So it was a guessing game. The good news is that this should not need to get cleaned that often. This is not one of those outfits that you would wear during sex (at least not for us, or most people I talk to about lingerie). So since this is more of a dress up/party type of costume, it should not get dirty very often.

I cant wait to pull this out of the lingerie cabinet next Halloween. It is a great little costume. A sexy Disney princess. I know I was not expecting this much out of it when we purchased it, but it surprised us. This one is a keeper.
