Blue lace babydoll and g-string - babydoll and panties set by Coquette - review by Apirka

I received the 1X/2X size for this set. I am about a size 20-22, and before I get into measurements of the garment, I just want to say that this fit me very well except for the actual cups (which I was already expecting). Though with this being a babydoll with an empire waist (close fit under the breasts then flaring out on bottom), I did expect this to fit well because babydolls are usually rather figure friendly.

I was really impressed with the packaging of this set. This was my first Coquette lingerie item, so I wasn't sure what to expect other than a plastic bag. But the babydoll and g-string came on a lovely padded black hanger with a ribbon bearing Coquette's name in the middle and a swiveling metal hanging hook. The hanger also had a metal bar attached with clips to hold the g-string. I honestly didn't expect such a nice hanger, though if you've ordered Coquette lingerie before, this might not be something new to you.

Now for the actual measurements (remember, these are for the 1X/2X size):

The straps are adjustable and resemble bra straps. They are 1/4" wide. Fully loosened, the straps measure about 16 1/2" long; fully adjusting them as tight as they will go, they measure about 9".

Measuring flat across the back, the width is 19 1/2". The black back portion has a height of 6 1/2". The back is a bit stretchy and has quite a bit of give.

The front cups are lightly padded. There is no underwire and the entire front portion is soft and flexible. The entire front appears to be one piece (not completely separate, molded cups) but with a seam up the middle of each breast section for curvature. From the highest point of the cup to the bottom, the measurement is 7"; from the edge of the padding to the middle, 11 1/2". The lace portion measures 15" long.

The label on the top states that this is made from 82% Nylon, 18% Spandex (exclusive of trim). The only care instructions are "Hand wash only, hang to dry". The bow on the front can also be removed.


As for fit, I was rather impressed with the top. Again, it is a babydoll with it's tightest section right under the breasts, so the fit is flattering and figure friendly. The lace bottom is not too billowy; there's just enough material to swish about and dance over curves. I completely overflowed the cups though, and I was absolutely expecting that! I have large breasts (I'm roughly in the DDD/E area, perhaps a little more) and I always have trouble finding accurately fitting tops that give plenty of room in the chest but a tighter fit everywhere else. I did fit in the cups of this top, but I have major cleavage. If you're as endowed as I am, you should still fit in the top (albeit with more cleavage than the models on the product page). Smaller chests should fit well, obviously.

There's no underwire in the top, so I had to adjust the straps to get a bit more support. Thankfully, the straps did not dig into my skin and were rather comfortable. The length of the lace just covered up my ass. All in all, this fit rather well and was very comfortable and easy to put on, take off and wear. I was expecting the lace to be a bit scratchy because, well, it's lace. But it was much softer than I had anticipated. There is a bit of texture (as to be expected), but it's rather soft and slightly stretchy. The entire piece is flattering and really comfortable, even to sleep in. I'm the type of person that, if something is completely uncomfortable, I will rip it off in my sleep and find it thrown across the room in the morning. This stayed on all night!

Now for my least favorite part of this set: the g-string. Well, it's your typical, cheap appearing butt-floss. It doesn't appear that much thought went into creating it. It's a couple of elastic bands sewn to a long triangle of the same blue lace on the top. There is no fabric crotch liner; the entire thing is elastic and lace. Obviously it was made with the expectation that you would not be wearing it long. It is stretchy enough that I'm sure any size can slip it on, but concerning fit, the front just covered my pubic mound. If you've got a bit of a belly like me, then there might not be any point to wearing the g-string for it might not even be seen! Honestly, I would be more comfortable wearing a pair of my own black panties or thong.

The very first thing I noticed about the Blue lace babydoll and g-string set from Coquette upon removing it from the box is its color. The photos on the product page really don't do it justice. It is a deep, bright blue. And I do mean BLUE... like a jewel tone sapphire. It really is gorgeous.

Overall, I was very excited to have received this set as my first free assignment. The color is absolutely gorgeous! The top fits rather well, is flattering, well crafted and completely comfortable. The g-string on the other hand; well, I have absolutely no use for it, but it's not worth deducting any stars just for that piece.

Also, I know some people wish to know whether or not you could wear the piece out, as to a club. I'm not that daring to wear this anywhere but the bedroom (especially since I might pop out of the top with too much movement). But if you're into it (and fit better in the cups), I would think that this would look rather cute worn out to a club with a black blazer on top. The lace portion is sheer but not entirely see through, so I can see this as part of a sexy ensemble.

After several washes with the Dona Lace Lingerie Wash, this babydoll and g-string set have held up very well. It did bleed a bit and turn the wash water blue the first few washes, but I expect all blue items to do this. Overall, this set has held up well and I haven't noticed any fraying, runs, rips, or holes. Definitely one of my favorite lingerie items (though I still wish the cups were a bit larger).
