Black sequin dress - mini dress discontinued by DreamGirl - review by spookycutie

I've been longingly eyeing this dress for months, but I've also been a bit apprehensive. Sometimes sequins can look fabulous - other times, incredibly tacky. I'm sure we've all experienced a sequin "bald spot" before, too, right? Well, last week I finally took the plunge and bought this dress, and I couldn't be happier that I did. I mainly bought it because it's something I can wear to work (as a tank top, of course), and I plan to do so tomorrow. It looks and feels/fits great. Excited!

Packaging: Well, let's be honest...the packaging isn't cute. I don't care, though; I'm just going to rip it to shreds in a frenzy whether it's cute or minimal. This arrived in a basic grocery-store type plastic bag, gently folded in half. Whatever!



Appearance: The dress is exactly as pictured, and the quality appears to be perfect as well. No loose sequins, no frayed edges, no problems. The sequins are definitely stitched on there securely; I'm not worried about this pieces lifespan at all. It's shimmery, but it's not too bold - just the right amount of glamour and glitter. Love!



Fit/Look/Feel: I tend to wear a small or medium in most things, and I wear a 34D bra. I bought this in a Medium because another review mentioned it ran a little small, and I also thought that this style of tank top would look better just a little loose. While it certainly fits me, this top is a pain in the butt to get over my head and chest! Once it's on, it fits like a dream, and holds my boobs tightly without flattening them. It looks awesome on. My boyfriend noticed it was new the second he walked in the door, and he complimented it. We both love it! So, basically...buy at LEAST a size up. I could have easily gone with the Large, though the Medium fits me quite comfortably. The liner inside is smooth and comfy. The only place you may feel any scratchiness from the sequins is around the armpits, but that's minimal.

There's NO WAY this would ever be a dress on me -- or most people, for that matter. With jeans on, but you can tell that my butt cheeks would be exposed without them:



Maybe if you're about 5 feet tall or shorter, this could be a dress. However, if you're average or tall, I think you'd be showing a little bit TOO much to wear this out anywhere. I'm 5'7", for reference.

Material and Care: 100% Polyester, exclusive of decoration.
DRY CLEAN ONLY! I think that's sort of an obvious one -- although I've never brought anything to the dry cleaners before, and I doubt I'll start now. I'll probably just wipe this down if I spill anything on it!

I'm still very impressed with this! I've worn it several times since my original review and I'm always pleased with the way it looks and feels--plus all the compliments I get on it!
