Red Hot but it Gave me the Blues
Very nice for a short wear in the bedroom, less so if you want to wear it for a few hours at a time or out and about. Quality is about what you'd expect from lower end lingerie.Published: January 5, 2009
Pros:
Beautiful shade of red, very nice fit, exceptionally flattering.
Cons:
Poor quality and durability in both stitching and laces.
The red and black satin brocade corset is really quite pretty.
The packaging was typical porn store plastic but once we had it out both my partner and I did quite a bit of oohing and aahing over the gorgeous shade of red. It's a warm red rather than a cool; more of an orange undertone than blue. I loved that.
The corset itself has nice, sturdy hook and eye closures along the front and a ribbon lace tie along the back. The ribbon was a little difficult to thread as the ends weren't "finished" very well but we eventually got it threaded and laced up.
The fit was good. I'm a size 14 with C/D cup breasts and it fit just fine in both chest and waist/hips. The panty, on the other hand, was too snug - but I expected that when I ordered it. I just wore my own panty. The matching panty was also a bit stiff. I'm not sure if it would soften up with a washing but I can't imagine it would be very comfortable "out of the box".
All in all, once I was laced up, I was pretty excited about the product. It was pretty, fit right, fabulous in color and detail and I felt very, very sexy. The boning was comfortable, the lacing adjustable so it could go from snug to loose, the length was just right and the breast lift was out of this world.
Unfortunately the quality isn't all that great. I had a seam give out in the left side, causing this weird, poofy bit of material that looked pretty bad, after having it on less than two hours.
I'd say it's a pretty piece if you're looking for a one or two time use but not something that's going to hold up in the long run.

I took this in and had the blown seam sewn fixed.
Turns out the entire edge of the fabric was frayed along that seam.. So... the fix only cost me a couple dollars but it's not going to be a permanent fix cuz the fabric is too frayed and there wasn't much left to sew.
Not sure if this is a sign of bad general quality or if I just got a bad item but at least now I should get to wear it a time or two more.
Which is grand, cuz it's really a beautiful piece.

That's such a shame that it burst a seam! It is really pretty. Will you try to repair it and wear it again or is it a lost cause?
I'm going to see if it can be fixed. The seam gave out right along the boning on the side so I'm not sure how easy/economical it'll be to repair but I absolutely liked it enough to find out.
Wow so cheap and yet it is still $35 bucks. Not cool.
Honestly, for this price, I wouldn't expect anything more but I do like the pattern!
Really? You expect two hours wear for $35?
I generally expect to get at least a few wears and a wash or two out of ANY garment I buy - especially lingerie that isn't exposed to the harshness of workday wear.
To be honest gve the cost of custom corsets $35 is rather cheap but I'd still expect a bit of care going into the stitching of side seams. They bear the load, as it were, and the fabric edges should have been turned and hemmed before being sewn into a seam. Talk about disappointment! Still you like the color and if it suits your skin tone it'd be worth keeping around should you decide to have a custom outfit made!
Nice review!
No I was saying that the quality doesn't even sound worth $35 dollars. My corsets are never less than about $60.
Did you ever wear it again?
Thanks for letting me know about the quality of the product. If the seams come out quick. I would be upset. I want something long lasting
Thanks for the warning. Wondering if you got a bad one, or bad quality in general? Anybody heard?
Shame about the quality, but thank you kindly for the review!
Thanks for the review..pity the quality isn't that great cause this is a pretty piece.
