Sequin garter belt - garters discontinued by Seven 'til Midnight - review by SMichelle

I just can't get enough of garter belts lately! They're sexy, and yet still functional, as they hold up my favorite thigh high stockings. Whether I'm wearing it under a dress in public, or alone in the bedroom for my guy, nothing makes me feel sexier than a good garter belt.

How to Wear:
Garter belts are meant to help hold up your thigh high stockings. I don't know about you, but my stockings always want to roll down, so garters are an absolute must for me.

Some garter belts are only functional in the bedroom, whereas others are able to be worn under dresses.

This one is a bit fancy for everyday use, and it does have a ruffle that might show if you try to wear it with a tight dress. That said, I was able to wear this under a looser fitting dress, and no one was able to tell that I had it on.

Material and Care:
This garter belt is made out of 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. Overall, the material is okay. It's certainly not high quality, but for $17.99, it's okay.

The side of the belt that goes against your skin is very smooth, comfortable, and not at all itchy. The part that shows, on the other hand, is covered in black sequins. The sequins, of course, make the piece very shiny.

The material is also very stretchy, so if you're a little bigger than what the size chart recommends? I wouldn't worry. The stretchy fabric makes this piece very forgiving.

The tag recommends that you machine wash this piece in cold water, and then hang it to dry. If you do choose to put this through the washing machine, I would use the delicate cycle, and a lingerie bag. Personally, however, I think it is best to wash this by hand, as the sequins could easily fall off in the washing machine.

Oh, and remember, don't bleach or iron this piece.

Sizing:
Seven 'til Midnight has made this piece available in two sizes; SM, and ML. I purchased this in ML.

According to the size chart, the ML should fit someone with a hip measurement of 38-40". Other measurements are not relevant for this particular piece.

Personally, my hips are a 40", and I have to wear this piece on the last (smallest) closure setting. With that in mind, I would say that this piece definitely runs large. Honestly, I could've probably purchased the SM and fit just fine, considering the amount of stretch that this piece offers.

I took the following measurements with the piece laying flat, and open (unclasped).
Unstretched the piece measures 32.5"
Stretched it is 39"

Design:
This piece is really simple, and yet really pretty.

It is your basic garter belt. It has four non-removable garter straps. The garter straps are fairly thick, being more than a half inch wide. Personally, I really like the look of the thicker garter straps.

The garter straps are adjustable, so you'll be able to adjust them to your desired setting. The straps are adjusted much the same way that you would adjust bra straps, so it's really easy to do. At the shortest possible length, the straps measure 4" in length. At the longest possible setting, the straps measure about 7".

Now, I want to note here that the garter clips themselves are NOT exactly as pictured. The stock photo on the product page shows silver garter clips. In reality, the garter clips are black. That said, they are very sturdy clips.

The garter belt has a hook and eye closure, much like most bras have. There are three possible closure settings, so again, you can choose the fit that works best for you.

The belt is covered in black sequins. The color of the sequins makes the belt appear classy, and almost glamorous. The shine of the sequins is fun, and sexy.

At the top edge of the belt, there is a little lace ruffle that goes all the way around. The ruffle is not large, however you will be able to see it through tight dresses, should you decide to wear a tight dress over this.

Packaging:
The packaging for this belt is really simple. It came simply wrapped in a plastic bag. There was no hanger included, but as I don't hang my garter belts, that wasn't a big deal.

There is a hang tag attached to the garter belt. I would recommend that you cut the hang tag off, as ripping it off could rip the fabric.

Quality:
Overall, the quality is okay.

The sequins do appear fragile, and the fabric does feel sort of cheap, but for $17.99? It's pretty good.

I did not notice a single issue in sewing quality. I also did not notice any loose threads.

I love this garter belt. I've worn it several times, and it still appears to be in top shape. I haven't even noticed a single sequin missing!

It's definitely one of my favorite garter belts, especially considering that I've been able to wear it underneath dresses and skirts without anyone noticing.
