Lycra corset with ruffled trim - corset discontinued by Coquette - review by - Kira -

It's been a long time since I bought a corset. They usually fit my breasts awkwardly so I just stopped buying them. My husband hadn't been happy with my lingerie so I showed him a few things I was interested in and this Coquette corset was his top pick.

The first thing you should know about this corset is that the lace trim on the bottom is not the red and black that's shown on the product page. That's the red and black ruffle panty which was not available on Eden until recently. Silly me thought that was the bottom of the corset and was very disappointed when it wasn't. If you like the look of the red and black at the bottom I would suggest picking up the panty to go with this.

PACKAGING

The corset arrives in a plastic bag. It's on one of the Coquette padded hangers.



SIZING

You can purchase this corset in sizes between S and 3X/4X. I have it in the medium. For a medium I should wear a B cup and measure between 36"-38". My waist should measure between 28"-30". My hips should measure between 38"-40". I should be a dress size between 8-10.



My actual dress size is a 6. My waist is 28" inches and my hips are 39". My cup size is a 34DD/36D.

The medium is 17" long. Under the bust is 12.5". At the waist is 12.5". At the hips is 13". The snap closure is 13.75" long. The back is 14" long.



The corset is very tight on me. Where the closures are you can see some skin through it. It is tight to the point that I can barely breathe or move in it. If I lay down and then try to get up it's near impossible. There is some extra room in the bust where this would fit breast sizes above mine. If you're smaller in the waist and hip than me and bigger in the bust this will fit nicely. There's no way this is going up to the full range of the size chart.

MATERIAL

This piece is 82% nylon and 18% spandex. The spandex content would make you think that there's a lot of stretch to this. That's not the case. It doesn't really stretch at all. The material is smooth on the inside and lightly textured on the outside. The inside feels somewhat like bathing suit material. The outside feels like a bathing suit if had lots of little holes for texture. It's very comfortable and not at all itchy against the skin.

DESIGN

The top of the corset has a mesh ruffle trim. The middle has visible boning that starts out in a V and then comes down in a straight line. The front has a snap hook closure. The closure is easy enough to get on and off by yourself. The bottom has the same mesh ruffle trim as the top. The back is where the piece gets really sexy. It has a bright red lace up back. The laces can be used somewhat for sizing but are mostly there to look pretty. The entire corset has a black panel across the center that is the same color and material as the main corset. It is set apart from the rest by stitching.



BONING

The corset has metal boning. I placed this in a bag (being stupid) and noticed that the boning bent out of shape. I'm not sure if that's normal or if I just messed up in a serious way. Before this and even worse after I noticed that the boning sticks out near the waist when I wear it. I don't have a lot to compare it to but the boning is very pliable. It bends out of shape easily and can look funny because of this either when worn or stored. It feels to me more like it's made of plastic than metal. If it is metal, it is a very thin metal



QUALITY

Aside from the boning, I have no issues with the quality. The stitching all looks wonderful and I cannot find a single fray.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Included with the corset are removable garters and straps. I never used either of these to say how they worked.



CARE

You should hand wash this corset. It should not be placed in a washing machine. It should be line dried and not put in a drier. It should not be bleached or ironed.

I think this looks a bit odd on my breasts. In the product page photo the cups look more rounded but when I put it on they are very pointed. It feels very Morticia Adams to me. If it didn't cut into such a deep V and was just a little less pointy I'd be okay with it.

I'm still bummed that it wasn't the black and red ruffle at the bottom. I now have the panties to complete the look but I honestly thought the corset had the ruffles at the bottom. So much sadness that was not the case.

This is so uncomfortable to wear due to the sizing. I feel like I'm being squeezed to death by a snake or something. I get lingerie to wear during sex, not just before it. Let me tell you, that was some feat with this. Trying to move around with this on was near impossible.

You'll also notice in the photos that the boning sticks out at the waist. It makes me look lumpy in the waist which is just not good. I already stick out at the hips so more sticking out is not okay. The boning in general seems kinda meh but then I don't have a lot to compare it to so I can't say for sure.

Of course, as is usually the case with items I have issues with, my husband adores this. I can't blame him really because from afar this does look pretty freaking sexy. Every time I wear this his jaw just drops and he is ready to jump me. I guess he overlooks the pointy bust and boning issues at the waist.

I almost feel like I should give this 3 stars based on the boning and sizing. I can't quite bring myself to do it because of how much my husband loves it. I'm not annoyed enough by it to not want to wear it for him. I do have to deduct at least one point for the boning that seems flimsy to me and the sizing being off.
