Ship happens - sexy costume by DreamGirl - review by Nora

When I began my search for a product to review, I first start in the “plus size” department of the lingerie/costumes. It is a new found passion of mine! However, not really finding anything there that I thought would work for me; I found this little costume in the XL size. I currently wear size 18 pants, and depending on the top, my size varies from an XL to a 2XL. Therefore, I knew this was going to be a tight fit! However, since the size chart for Dream Girl does not list the sizing for XL, I made an educated guess that this was going to run somewhere between a 14 and 16 (I figured I could squeeze into it now and that it would fit better as I lost more weight).

As I mentioned before, I knew this was going to be tight, but what I did not expect was the complete lack of space for my boobs! Everything runs a bit “tight” for me since I wear a DDD cup, but I can usually get away with it. Not in this though! Even in an XL, I would say the cup size on it is a B at best, I would expect a C cup to overflow in this dress.






Pardon the poor pictures, but since this does not fit me (at all), the pillow had to play substitute body! I really do love the feel of this dress! The polka dot and the blue material are made of Polyester and this dress feels like a swimsuit when on! The sleeves are a sheer mesh with black stitching at the end to help create the ruffles, and a little red bow in the center. The back of the dress also has a long red ribbon reminiscent of corset lacing that can be loosened or tightened as needed, I found it easiest to loosen the ribbon to pull it on and then cinch it for the “best” look. I was a little shocked when I received this that there was no petticoat or lace under the skirt! I looked very carefully at all the suggested accessories for this and knew it would not be coming with stockings/thigh highs, but was surprised to see right on the packaging that it did not come with the petticoat. This is much cuter with the bright red petticoat that the modal is wearing!



Not to forget the one accessory this does come with! The hat is also made of Polyester, is bright white, and has two thin bright red ribbons going around the rim and another red ribbon bow in the center of the ribbons. This part does fit, but looks a little out of place without the dress and does require some work to get a good “look” with my hair.



I do not believe I will be trying an XL from Dream Girl again in the near future, but if you are closer to the sizing for a Large on the chart and just was not a bit of extra room, this should work great! If you know you need a “plus size” though, I would suggest looking elsewhere, maybe at Makin Waves, also by Dream Girl, but only available in a 1x/2x or 3x/4x.

The material covers enough that this can be worn out in public, though since it is a costume, probably best for Fourth of July, "adult" barbeque or Halloween!

Didn't fit right before I got pregnant and REALLY doesn't fit right now that my breast have jumped in size by 3 cups sizes so far! I may end up selling this one because the small cup size is never going to fit me!
