Secret passion - chemise discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Secret Passion outfit by DreamGirl is available in sizes S-3X/4X. I had purchased the size XL for myself. The chemise and matching thong arrived on a plastic hanger and the outfit was surrounded by plastic. There was no text or images on the surrounding plastic. The hanger can be used for storing the outfit or it can be folded and placed in a drawer.

There were a couple of cardboard tags attached to the outfit when it had arrived. The first tag had an image of a model wearing the outfit and stated the colour, size, company name, and website. The other tag stated the material composition of the outfit and the company contact information. All of this information can be found on the care tag in the outfit so the cardboard tags can just be recycled.



The chemise is 50% nylon and 50% polyester. It is a red colour with an overlay of black lace. The lace has a pretty floral pattern to it. The material has some stretch to it. The chemise doesn’t seem opaque when I’m wearing it, though it’s semi-sheer when I hold it up to the light. The thong is 100% nylon. The thong matches the chemise. It is the same floral lace material that is the overlay on the chemise. The material has a bit of stretch to it and is trimmed with elastic band. The thong has a lining in the crotch area.

Waistband unstretched: 16 ¼ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 27 inches

Chemise
Chest (armpit to armpit) not stretched: 19 inches
Chest (armpit to armpit) stretched as much as I could: 24 ½ inches
Length (armpit to bottom): 21 inches
Width at bottom of chemise: 21 ¾ inches
Cup (not including lace trim) length: 5 ¼ inches
Cup width: 7 inches

There are 3 columns of hook and eye closures at the top, centre back of the outfit. Each column has 2 eyes in it and there is a ½ inch gap between each column. The three columns allow the wearer to adjust the chest width. I had taken the above measurements with the hook and eye closures done up on the first column of eyes (loosest fit). Directly below the hook and eye closures is a small keyhole opening. This opening has a length of 2 ½ inches and the width depends on which column you use for the hooks.

The shoulder straps are stretchy and their lengths are adjustable. The straps can be adjusted from 9-16 ½ inches in length. They are not detachable. Each strap has a little bow made of ribbon that sits at the bottom front. Each bow is approximately 1 ½ inches wide and just over 1 ½ inches long. I think the bows are cute but you could always remove them with a seam ripper if you wanted to. They seem to be secured to the straps with only a few stitches.



Each cup has a vertical seam line to it, which sits 1/3 away from the centre of the chest area. These seam lines do not run from the bottom to the top of each cup; they begin at the bottom of the cup and measure 2 ¾ inches in length. The inner edges of the cups are trimmed with black lace. The lace is approximately 1 ½ inches in length. The cups are not padded and do not have underwire to them. You’ll want to wear a pair of pasties, a bra, or similar item if you are worried about nipple outline.

The DreamGirl size chart states that the XL is best suited for those in the weight range of 160-180lbs. It also gives a suggested hip measurement of 40-42 inches and a cup size of D/E. My weight is in the high 160’s, my hip measurement is 41 ½ inches, I wear a C38 bra, and I’m 5’6 in height.

I own quite a few DreamGirl pieces and my C cups have never been too small for the XL. In fact, there has been a few times where my chest was too large. Luckily, my C cups fit nicely into the Secret Passion outfit. A D cup should fit comfortably as well but I’m not sure how comfortable an E cup would fit. I would assume that it’d be a bit too tight.

The body of the chemise fits me fine. It’s not too tight or too loose. My issue with the body of the outfit was that it was really short on me. I expected it to be a bit longer. When I pulled the bottom of the outfit down as much as I could, it sat just above the bottom of bum cheeks. The stock photo makes it seem like it would cover my entire bum with no problem but that isn’t the case. Also, the bottom of the chemise creeps up when I’m walking around. This shouldn’t be an issue for those who are shorter than me but if you’re taller than 5’6, it’ll be more of a shirt on you.

Another small issue I had was the width of the thong. The material that covers your crotch at the front of the thong is too thin… or at least it is for me. The material didn’t fully cover my front area. Some people may like that look but I am not a fan. I could have used another inch of material. Other than that, the thong fit nicely. The elastic waistband is really stretchy and didn’t give me muffin top. I’ll probably pair the chemise with a different panty though because I don’t like the thin front.

Typically I don’t take photos of myself in lingerie but as I had mentioned earlier, the chemise isn’t sheer. I could see myself wearing the chemise as a tank top beneath a cardigan if the cups had underwire and padding to them. You can see how the chemise fit me below.



The quality of the outfit is good. I didn’t notice any loose threads or uneven stitching. I found the outfit to be comfortable. The lace trim along the cups is very soft. I didn’t experience any skin irritation while wearing it. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried. Overall, I like the outfit. I’ve deducted one star from the rating because it’s a bit short and the front of the thong is thin. If you’re taller than 5’6”, you may want to avoid this outfit if you’re looking for something that will cover your bum. If you’re shorter, you won’t have a problem.
