Lace opaque garter dress - chemise discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Lace Opaque Garter Dress by DreamGirl is only available in one-size-fits-most and in the colour black. The dress arrived in a cardboard packaging surrounded by plastic. The front of the packaging states the company name, size, colour, and has a photo of a model wearing the outfit. The back of the packaging states a brief description of the product, material composition, size and weight bracket, care instructions, company website, and a back view of a model wearing the outfit.



Inside of the cardboard packaging, the outfit is wrapped around a thin piece of cardboard and surrounded by more plastic. The packaging is not good for storage. I prefer keeping my outfit in my lingerie drawer. The packaging can be recycled.

The outfit is 90% nylon and 10% spandex. The material of the outfit is ridiculously stretchy. The packaging states that the outfit would fit best on those who are between the weight bracket of 90-160lbs. I’m slightly above the highest weight in that bracket but I’ve had good experiences with the OSFM items like these because they have so much stretch to them. I’ve taken measurements of the outfit though if you need additional measurements, let me know and I can get them for you.

Garter strap length unstretched: 5 inches
Stocking top band length: 1 inch
Stocking top band width unstretched: 3 ¼ inches
Stocking top band width stretched as much as I could: 14 ½ inches
Neck collar width unstretched: 11 inches
Neck collar width stretched as much as I could: 28 ½ inches
Neck collar length: 1 inch
Chest (armpit to armpit) stretched as much as I could: 22 inches
Length of dress down the centre front unstretched: 20 inches
Length down the centre back of the dress: 10 inches

The outfit is one piece; the dress is attached to the garters, and the garters are attached to the stockings. The garters are actually just thick pieces of fabric. The solid black band at the top of the stockings is the same material as the garter straps, the band along the bottom of the dress, and the neckband.

The neckband has one metal snap closure that closes at the back of the neck. The neckband fits well on my neck without feeling constricted. This may vary for individuals with thicker necks though. The problem with only one snap closure is that the neck band will either fit comfortably or it won’t. The band is stretchy, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust the circumference with more snap closures. Though, the one snap closure does secure very well. The snap holds tightly and did not come undone while wearing it.



The bands at the top of the stockings, the garters, the neckband, and the thick vertical line running up the centre front of the dress is not sheer, regardless of how much it needs to be stretched. The thick vertical line at the centre of the dress is approximately 4 inches wide and it gives a slimming look to the wearer (or at least I felt it did for me). Being a size XL, I appreciate when a lingerie piece hides my insecure areas and the line down the centre really helps.



I really like the floral lace design to the dress and stockings. Since I needed to stretch the dress and stockings to fit, the design was a bit further apart making it sheerer than the stock photo. It still looks great though! The length of the dress worked well for me. I’m 5’6 and the dress came ¼ down my thigh. Being a bedroom piece, this is fine to me. The length of the dress can be stretched if you need more length, though it will creep up a bit while wearing it.

Putting the dress on is fairly simple. To put the dress on, you step into the dress, pull the stockings up to your thighs, and then pull the dress up your body and snap the closure behind your neck. Voila! The dress should be worn with crotchless panties or with no underwear at all because taking the dress off does take a minute or two, which could kill the mood.

The material is extremely comfortable and I do not have any complaints about the material being irritating or bothersome to my skin. The packaging states that the outfit should be hand washed separately in cold water and line dried. The outfit should not be bleached.

Overall, I’m happy with the outfit. I’ve given the outfit a 4 out of 5 because while it’s comfortable, stretchy, and looks great, the neckband does need a few more snap closures so the wearer can adjust it to fit. It’s a shame it’s only available in one-size-fits-most because this would look great on plus sizes as well.
