Mesh bra and thong - bra and panty set discontinued by Coquette - review by JPito

I was very eager to receive this bra set. It looked so cute in the pictures; I couldn't wait to be able to actually wear it. The glossy cardboard box it comes in has a picture of a red ribbon wrapped around one of the corners, which I thought was a cute detail; it made it look like a box of chocolates. I opened it up as eagerly as I would a real box of chocolates and found the set folded neatly inside. The mesh material is a gorgeous deep red that is complimented perfectly by black bows and ruffle accents.

Unfortunately, when I got the bra on I was a bit let down. The straps are adjustable in the back and have ruffles in the front that split a couple inches above the cups. The ruffled part is very elastic, which made the fit very comfortable, but also made the straps longer than they appear. I wear a 36B; with just about every bra I've ever bought, I always have to shorten the straps substantially to make it fit. I cinched the straps on this bra up as far as they could go, but because the ruffled portion is so stretchy they still felt too long. The horizontal band is also very elastic which, when coupled with the stretchy straps, proved a little troublesome; whenever I would bend over, my boobs would fall out of the bra enough to expose my nipples. While I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't be too offended by this, it's rather frustrating for me. I think if I had a slightly bigger bust, the fit would be tighter and much more secure. The cups have underwire and some minimal soft padding, that's it. There's no push-up, no shaping, no "ooh-la-la!" My breasts are on the smaller side, so I like bras that add a little boost to my bust for a sexy fuller look. This bra doesn't offer anything in that department.

On the other hand, I absolutely love the thong! The mesh is soft and the double ruffled bands are very stretchy for a super comfortable fit. As opposed to other thongs that seem to have the bare minimum to cover the goods in the front and even less in the back, this thong actually has a substantial amount of material in the crotch. It has four adorable little black bows on the front to match those on the bra. It does not include a cotton panel on the inside.

Overall, I was disappointed with this bra set. It's cute, well-made, very soft and comfortable, but it just doesn't deliver the sex appeal that I was hoping for.
