Super Saggy, and Super Awkward.

The Printed Lace Chemise and Thong by DreamGirl looks beautiful on the model in the stock photo, but I really do think it's been pinned, clipped and adjusted to look so fabulous on her body. It really is a shame because it's a cute idea for a piece, but it is just oddly made. The straps are not adjustable, so you have to have the exact body type for this to fit you properly.

extremely useful review
The trouble with being a size XL is that sometimes an outfit is only offered in “one-size-fits-most” and “plus-size”. This is the case for the printed lace chemise and thong. Sometimes I can squeeze myself into OSFM, but it really is hit and miss. I decided to order the plus-size option because usually OSFM is quite tight on me. I didn’t want the lace siding to create a bunch of muffin-tops all the way down the sides of my body.

The company states that the plus size is best for those between the weights of 165-275lbs. I’m very close to the lowest weight in that bracket, and I swim in this outfit. If you are close to the bottom weight in that bracket, I would suggest skipping this outfit completely. I would have suggested ordering the smaller size, but after reading Lauren’s review, it doesn’t sound like the OSFM will fit either. Basically, if you’re an XL like me, you’re out of luck completely with this outfit. I strongly suggest the plus-size option for those who are in the middle, or higher range of the weight bracket. I’ve included measurements in the review as well, which should give you an idea of if the outfit will fit you well or not.

The lingerie piece arrived in a rectangular cardboard box. The front of the box states the brand, size, and colour. The front also has a photo of a model wearing the outfit. The back of the box has a photo of the backside of the model, and states the care instructions, weight bracket, and company website. The box is not the best for storage. If you decide you do not need the box at all, it can be recycled.

Inside of the box, the chemise and thong are packaged in a plastic bag.

The outfit is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Both the front of the chemise, and the lace sides are extremely stretchy. The material on the front of the chemise does not look sheer in the stock photo, but it actually is. When I place my hand behind the material, I can see my hand. While it’s not completely see-through, there is sheerness to it.

I’ve taken measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I can get those for you.

Thong
Waistband unstretched: 15 ½ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 28 inches
Widest part of material that covers your front area: 5 ¾ inches
Length of lining: 4 ¾ inches

Chemise
Neck ties: 21 inches each
Cup length: 8 inches
Cup width: 9 inches
Lace pieces that tie at the top, back of the chemise: 27 ½ inches each
Length of chemise: 25 inches
Width of very bottom of chemise: 19 inches
Width of lace: 2 inches

The chemise cups do not have any padding or underwire in them. As you can see in the measurements above, the cups are quite large. My C38 chest was far too small to fit into these cups. The very top lace pieces ties behind the back of the outfit, and the neckties tie behind the neck as well. These ties allowed for me to tighten the chest area, but it still looked like I had no chest at all. There is a cute black bow between the cups.

The material in the front of the chemise is approximately 10 inches wide, unstretched. The lace that runs on the sides to the back of the chemise and to the other side is 30 inches in length, unstretched. There are 6 lace bands that wrap around the chemise. The top piece of lace ties in the back, while the other 5 attach from side to side.

The problem with the lace is that it is really thin and flimsy. You can adjust the lace pieces to lay flat against the body, but as soon as you move, the lace moves and scrunches. There is no way for you to really keep the lace in place so that it looks good; it WILL move.
Experience
...continued

Not only does it scrunch and move, but also if you have curves, some of the lace pieces will fit nicely, and on the thinner areas, it will droop and sag. This probably could be avoided if you cut the lace down the centre back of the chemise, and tie each and every lace piece to fit your body right. This piece will fit some people, but for the rest of us, it’s going to fit awkwardly as it’s not adjustable from the chest down. I am pretty sure that the model in the stock photo has had her outfit pinned in a bunch of areas so that it looks good for the photo. There is no possible way that a woman of her size, with her curves, would fit so perfectly in the plus-sized piece that I received (it should be sagging and awkward on her too).

When I was wearing the chemise, even though it was too large for me, the material was not bothersome to my skin. The lace is very soft.

The thong is attractive, and is nice quality. Also, there is a nice, thick lining in the thong.

To care for the item, the box says to hand wash separately in cold water, and to line dry. It also states that the outfit should not be bleached.

I’ve given the outfit a 2 out of 5, simple because for most people, it’s going to look awkward in at least one area of the chemise. I do love the pattern on the front of the chemise, and it was an interesting idea for a piece, but it needs to be adjustable. The price is relatively low though, so if you wanted to give it a shot, at least you won’t have to spend your life savings.
Follow-up commentary
I ended up getting rid of this chemise. There was no possible way I could make it work so I didn't need it taking up space. I still would not recommend this to anybody.
