Sheer backseam stockings - hosiery by Leg Avenue - review by ~LaUr3n~

I love that Leg Avenue provides affordable stockings that often have quality unreflective of their prices. However, this pair doesn't feel as high quality as others I own. I got them because I have a lot of pin-up lingerie and out fits. These have that perfect, classic, pin-up look to them. Unfortunately, they are too short and fit on the smaller side. But, I did find a use for them and I do have some good things to say about them despite the disappointment.

These also come in three other colors: vibrant red, classic nude, and white. The nude color screams vintage to me even more than these do.

This pair of stockings from Leg Avenue are a thin nylon that is see-through. They have a closed toe and thin back seam. They can be used with or without garters and depending on your thigh size, you might require the. They have a reinforced top and are one-size fits most.

*Material/color: not the softest, VERY thin

These stockings are made of 100% nylon which is not as soft as others I own from this company. Since these are so thin, they are not scratchy or anything though. They just don't feel as soft and smooth as I would like or expect from nylon this thin. They stretch decently, but also not as much as others I own. There is a plus side to this though. They seem to keep they shape a bit better. The material allows for complete see-through. You can see things like tattoos easily.

*Design/craftsmanship: fair, unique

I absolutely love the parts of these that make them look vintage. For one, the backseam is very thin which is typical of the 30's and 40's. I love it! They also don't go up the entire leg. They stop about an 1/" or so from the bottom of the top support. The top support is two toned which is what I love most about these. The top 2 1/2" of the support band is thicker and therefore darker. Then there is another 3/4" of an inch below the top part that is a bit thinner creating a middle tone-lighter than the top, but darker than the rest of the stockings. The toes are not reinforced, but I actually wish they were. The backseam is very comfortable though.

*Cleaning/care/storage: run easily

These run very easily so be careful and try to avoid putting them on in a hurry! I had just gotten my nails done, a simple manicure, and they still were scuffing these! Because they are dark, any nicks or pull become very visible. Because they are so delicate only hand wash and dry these. Sometimes I put stockings through laundry machines, but not these. They can be dried and then stored in the package they come in if you don't rip the plastic when you originally open them. You can also fold them in on themselves like socks.

*Sizing/Application: run short and small

The package says there are one size meaning 90-160 pounds. I would say these are best for the smaller end of this up to about 140 pounds if you are of average height. If you are taller than 5' 3" you will likely find these too short. I'm 5'6" and I could only get these up to about 23" of leg. That is different on everyone, but for me, this was not high enough on my thigh for my liking. They do however fall in a good place for me to use them with most of my garters.

The thigh part runs a bit small in my opinion. Most of these stockings are a good size up to about 25" around the thighs. These are smaller and have about a max stretch of 22-23" (to not dig in much anyways). These came to about just below my middle thigh. I felt they might fall down sometimes, so I have used a garter with these. Using garters is easy since the material is thin. I don't use them for lingerie outfits, but they look great under dresses and longer skirts.

Conclusion:

These stockings get 3 stars because of their quality and length. They run way too easily and are a poor example of one size fits most for stockings (compared to my others).

These backseam stockings do not get worn often. I think I have worn them twice since this review. Both times were with a knee length pencil skirt. They have held up through that, but I doubt they would still exist if I had been wearing them more often.
