Romance chemise - chemise discontinued by Escante - review by Peggi

The elegant and beautiful Romance Chemise caught my attention the very day it was available on the site. With the sheer and sexy material that has beautiful embroidery over the breast area, I was in love! Many of Escante's pieces are sexy and fun, this being no exception to the rule!



The chemise is made up of two main materials, elastic and nylon. The elastic portion of the chemise is on the straps and the bands of the thong. The remainder of the set shows as nylon on the care tag, however, it almost appears as if there is some lace, though this could simply be the way the nylon is woven.



It comes as a chemise and thong set, the thong is made of the same nylon pattern as the bottom, sheer portion of the chemise. The thong is very plain and simple, just a black on black elastic, and nothing special, but it does add a little coverage while wearing the set. Both pieces do stretch, as nylon has a lot of give.



The thong fits comfortably, no itching or digging into the skin. Even over a longer period of time wearing it, it does not leave you feeling uncomfortable. You just have your typical triangle that covers the front area, the back of the thong doesn't dig into you at all, and a single elastic band connects it all around the hips. Again, basic, but functional. There is a very small patch of cotton on the panties, just under 2" long. The waistband is 30" in circumference, and the widest area is 4".

Your real star of the show, though, is the chemise itself. Adjustable elastic straps with a design attached to them lay over the shoulders. The lacy-looking pattern covers the breast area and wraps to just under your arms, and a design that the picture does not do justice to. The main colors of the design are black and pink, but there is also a beautiful greenish tint to the top and bottom edges of the front, and the bottom part of the shoulder design. It reflects the light and shines, and is very lovely.



This comes in 3 different size options: small, medium or large. Mine is a large, and the size chart gives the following measurements:



My personal measurements are a 38C cup, 38" bust, 32" waist and a 40" hip. On buying this set, I weigh about 135lbs, though that fluctuates, and am 5'2" tall. I probably could've fit into the medium, but I like my lingerie to be a bit loose fitting and easier for fast removal, of course!

Unstretched, the neckline of the chemise is about 10 1/4" across the top. The lacy looking portion that covers the breast area is 6.5-7" from top to bottom, depending on which part of the design you measure, as it has a pretty cut to it, like waves. The area the covers the shoulders is only about 2-2 1/4" wide, and 6" long. It is there to add extra cuteness to the design. It is then 16" from the bottom of the design to the hem of the chemise in the front, and the entire back of the chemise has a length of 19 3/4". The straps adjust from 14.5" to 10 1/4".

The instructions recommend to wash this by hand in cold water, however, I did put this in a lingerie bag on a gentle cycle. I was sure to use a cold wash with it, and lingerie soap rather than a harsh detergent. I then line dried it as suggested, no twisting or wringing it out. Because of the dark material, you will want to avoid letting this dry in the sun, as the sun can bleach darker materials. I just hung up a line in my shower and let it hang there for about 45 minutes, and it was fully dry at that point, so it may not even take that long for you! You can also hang it up in front of a fan, to dry faster if you have concerns about someone seeing your sexy little piece!



For storage, there was no real packaging that this came in, so I just hang this up in my closet. It can be placed in a drawer, but does not fold easily, as the material is almost silky. Also, be aware that if it is folded or bunched up for extended periods of time it will wrinkle. You will want to lay this as flat as possible to avoid ironing.

If you choose to sleep in this piece, it is very comfortable to do so, though you may pull at the lace-like material and cause damage to it, if you move in your sleep.

After applying some pasties, because of course the lace is very sheer, I managed to get some photos of the set. It hugged my chest and did not show any cleavage, even from a birds-eye view shot:



The hemline was very cute and wavy, and aside from the area around my chest, it hung a bit but didn't give the impression of added weight. It hid trouble areas well and even though it is very sheer the small pooch on my tummy didn't show! You can even see my belly button ring, but yet, the belly is safely hidden!



From the side, you can see the way the cute little ruffles on the straps look, and how nicely it hangs on me. The little creases do give the impression of "skin folds" in the picture, but in person they weren't as noticeable. Also, you can see how well it fits around my chest area from the side as well!
