Wet look thigh high stockings - hosiery by Coquette - review by biancajames

I knew I was taking a risk when buying these- "plus size" lingerie always is. But this was one of those things I'd been curious about for a while, and sometimes it's worth taking a risk in the hopes of a decent pay off.

First things first, I am 5'6", 250 pounds (but also fit/hour glass shaped) and wear a size 18 or 20 usually. I knew these was a good chance these wouldn't fit, and I couldn't find any reviews from plus sized women who'd tried them, so I decided the challenge was on me.

These are thigh-high black shiny stockings made by Coquette. They don't come with any special packaging. They are made from a breathable nylon/spandex fabric that's smooth on the inside and has a shiny "wet look" glaze on the outside, with a seam running from the foot all the way along the back of the stocking. They're slightly thicker than normal tights, but reasonably comfortable. I bought them to wear with this buster and the matching wet look booty shorts. Well, the outfit didn't really come together as planned. The buster and booty shorts (can I take a moment to say how much I love the expression "booty shorts"?) were fine, but these stockings just...didn't do it for me.

My thigh has an approx. circumference of 28", and I found that with the very narrow seamed band at top, they didn't fit, so I cut off this band and they were stretchy enough to hit about mid-thigh, but without the band they definitely need garters to stay up. The problem is they are thick enough that it's hard to keep them in place with slide garters- clip garters would probably work better (if you can find them!!!)

The real problem however, was they just didn't look sexy to me, even with heels. They looked like those cheap, shiny leggings you at boutiques geared towards teenage girls and I felt dumpy in them. I offered them to another plus sized friend who is my size but 5'10" and has very lovely toned legs, thinking it was my leg-shape that wasn't working with them. She didn't like them either. I am a hosiery lover who collects fishnets, colored and pattern tights, etc. and I have to say these just felt too bulky for me. I honestly think they'd look better with a plain skirt, tee-shirt, hoodie and boots, ie, wearing them like actual leggings, than as sexy lingerie.

I think these would be really sexy if they were made out of real latex, but as coated spandex they're just kind of frumpy and strange.

So, plus sized ladies- these probably will fit you if you cut off the band, but I don't know if I consider this to be a particularly flattering bit of hosiery. I may cut them up and make them into fingerless opera gloves, though so not all is lost!
