Red rose satin corset set - corset and panty set discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Hot'n'Bothered

After having a fairly positive experience with another Dreamgirl corset, I was very hopeful I'd have the same experience with this one.

Unfortunately, I was left disappointed.

The corset arrived in a timely manner. True to EF fashion, it was wrapped up in a plastic bag and then neatly wrapped in pink tissue paper. (Where's the spritz of perfume, guys!?!)

Immediately upon opening it, I had to sit back and simply admire the color. Red really isn't my color..but I love the shade of this set.

Oddly enough, the corset and the thong do not match. The corset is a red, whereas the thongs come across as more of a dark rust color.

While on that note, I found the thong to be as comfortable as a thong can be. While the front has beautiful lacing, the crotch fabric is solid and non irritating. The fit was absolutely perfect, the only flaw I could find was the mismatched coloring.

The stockings, honestly I didn't have much hope for these based on my previous experience. Here's where I was (to a degree) surprised. They are of decent quality. The fabric is thicker, and I didn't feel like I was risking a run just by putting them on. There are also no inconsistencies within the fabric. Again, I do not know where Dreamgirl comes up with their sizing, but the fit on these were still ridiculous. I'm 5'7, and went with the 34. One of the stockings came up to my crotch, the other came up to my hip. So if you have freakishly long legs, this is a wise investment!

The corset itself is composed of two (attached) pieces. The outer shell, and a bra.

The bra, is composed of fish net, and has decorative roses incorporated into the cups. Ideally (key word here) these should poke out above the corset and be seen. The support is laughable, (Did the model use duct tape to get the girls that pushed up?) and I really wish they had gone with a fabric that was more sturdy, and maybe provided some light padding. Not to mention better support.

The outer shell has three rows of hook- eye closures to try and help get the sizing right. The front is slightly lace up, though I found playing with that did absolutely nothing for the overall look of the piece, nor did it help improve the fit. The ribbon length is exceedingly long, so I had to double bow it so I didn't have ribbon hanging down past my hips. If I were really motivated I'd probably cut/sear the edges. But I'm not that motivated.

The outer shell only has two rows of plastic boning, one on each side. I feel that this may be one of the big reasons the fit isn't all it's cracked up to be.

There are two sets of adjustable (and removable) shoulder straps. One for the outer shell and the other for the bra. Thankfully they seem to stay on top of each other with little effort, so you don't have to walk around with the appearance of two sets of straps. Again, they are removable, I wouldn't recommend it however due to the great lack of support this set already provides.

The garters are also removable if you do so desire.

Despite trying to get this set to look just right over the course of a couple months, it's a complete failure. Save yourself some heartache and try a different set. This is still just a $50 thong.
