A Desire Fulfilled

The Desire is a great toy for just about anyone. Multi-functional in both using it for all over body stimulation as well as seven different modes of stimulation to cycle through. Sometimes getting back to the basics really is best!

Use

The L'Amour Silicone Desire is a fairly standard traditional vibrator in size and shape but steps up the game with its higher quality material, seven settings and fun factor. I was excited to give the Desire a try; after a few disappointing vibes in a row, going back to basics with a traditional vibe rather was perfect.

This is also one of my first silicone, rather than jelly toys and let me tell you...I don't think I can go back. It has some of the softness and flexibility that I like about jelly toys, but has a firmness and more luxe feel to it that jelly toys lack and it feels GREAT. I think the Desire has spoiled me for cheaper toys for life. Beginners, hear me in this...spend a little more for a higher quality toy! You won't regret it.

As a traditionally shaped vibe, it hits all the usual spots. Wonderful for clitoral stimulation, and for those who aren't smaller or tighter down under or those who aren't size queens. It's great for insertion as well. It's slightly too big for me, but I'm hoping to work up to using it for more than shallow penetration eventually. This toy is also super quiet, which I love. The Desire is waterproof which is always nice - yay for multi-functional toys!

Material / Texture

As I mentioned above, the Desire has ruined me for all non-silicone softer toys. The silicone is slightly bendy and soft, but firm and gives the impression of a higher class toy. It's made mostly out of silicone (the shaft) and plastic (the control end/battery cover), which is awesome on the safety scale (an 8!). The silicone has somewhat of a velvety texture that ends up having a bit of drag with use, but nothing a little water based lube or warming up with some foreplay won't fix. It's very smooth, even with three small ridges near the head of the toy. No part of this toy seems or feels cheap. I don't recall an odor either.

Design / Shape / Size

The color is listed as blue but it's really more of a lavender. The Desire is 9" long, 6 3/4" of which is insertable. It's vaguely realistic in that it tapers a bit at the head and has some small ridges, but most of the shaft is 4 3/4" around with a 1 1/2" diameter. It was a little big for me to insert, which may then be true for other beginners or those who are a bit smaller down under, but will be great for many to use for insertion. It weighs 8 ounces - not too heavy at all.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I love the controls on the Desire. When held the "right" way (as if it were an actual penis and your parter was penetrating you from the front), the controls slant toward you for easy adjusting. It's perfect for holding like a joystick and pressing the buttons with your thumb. Every time I use it, I seriously marvel at it's ease of use (can you tell I'm not used to nicer toys?) There are two buttons - the on/off button is on top and the mode button is below it - and they both light up red when turned on for ease of use.

There are seven settings, which was kind of fun for me to experiment with as I'm used to a dial base going from low to high. Each time you press wavy mode button, the mode changes and you can cycle through all seven. There is no backward button, so if you pass the mode you want, you'll have to cycle all the way through. Also, if you turn the vibe off, it'll restart you on the first setting.

The modes are:
- Low
- Medium
- High
- Escalating
- Pulsing
- Faster pulsing
- Longer pulses

I think cycling through the modes are kind of fun and have orgasmed easily on most of them. I try to tease myself a bit first, but they feel so great that I end up leaning into the one that on and coming pretty quickly. It's also pretty quiet, which is nice as I have housemates I'd like to leave in the dark about my extracurricular activities. It can't be heard through a closed door, especially under covers and/or with a fan running as I usually have.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is super easy to care for. Silicone repels dirt and bacteria and doesn't fall apart with extended friction. It can easily be washed with soap and water (a waterproof toy plus!) or can be sterilized by placing it in boiling water for 3 minutes. I don't know that I'd drop the entire toy in boiling water because of the plastic base, but you could certainly holding the silicone end in for 3 minutes to sterilize most of it. The Desire could even be put in the dishwasher, if that's your fancy. If you don't choose to fully sterilize this toy, it'd probably be wise to use condoms for sharing.

The Desire works well with lube, though ONLY water-based as using a silicone-based lube would sadly melt this wonderful toy.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The packaging it came in was exactly what is shown on the main product page - a clear plastic box with the name on the front and an insert covering the back with a picture of the Desire and some product highlights. It's discreet-ish in that there's no picture of a half naked, pouting co-ed on it, but not so much in that it's a clear box with a view of the actual product or a picture of it on all four sides. There weren't any instructions, but opening the battery compartment and using the Desire were pretty intuitive. The packaging itself lists that it takes 2-AA batteries, but that's all I needed to know. The packaging could be used for storage if needed, and care should be taken to store silicone toys apart from each other. I discarded the packaging and keep mine in a little drawstring bag I made for it.
    • Good for storage

Follow-up commentary
I love, love, love this toy... it's currently my favorite and my go-to, and I anticipate that it will be for quite awhile. It's great on batteries too, I use it fairly regularly and haven't had to replace them yet in the few months I've owned it.

Are the ridges at the top noticeable when inserted? Thanks for the review.

It's a bit too big for me to use for insertion, so I can't tell you... sorry! I think it would depend on how sensitive you are internally since it has a little give to it as a toy and the ridges aren't very pronounced.

This has definitely elevated to my favorite toy. Using this and other toys more often has stretched me out a little more, so I can better answer your question now, Zombirella - I can feel the ridges a little bit but they're not super pronounced.
