A Petal to Make You Blossom

A wonderful basic egg vibe with many uses to suit anyone's needs, the Petal offers direct vibrations and broad ones. It is cute and high quality for this price point. The controls are beginner friendly and is a great staple to any toy box.

Use

The L'amour Petal is a external egg-style vibrator that is designed for clitoral stimulation but can be used by any person regardless of gender. I love bullets/eggs because of how many uses you get out of them. This one toy can be used to stimulate the clit, nipples, perineum, balls, or any sensitive place. You can use it alone or with a partner. It is really up to you! Though, it is useful to note that this toy is not meant for internal use.

The Petal is a sturdy reliable toy that will suit beginners or advanced users (though probably not power king/queens) in both construction and performance. I think this toy could be a toy box staple for just about anyone.

Material / Texture

The Petal is made from PU coated plastic, which is a velvety smooth hard plastic. There is no give to the material at all, but it feels soft because of the coating. There is a bit more drag to this toy than a non-coated plastic vibe. Since the toy is used externally I don't feel like it makes that much of a difference, though when the going gets slippery the Petal doesn't slip around as much as a regular hard plastic toy would.

The control pack is also made out of the same coated plastic which feels nice in the hand and is easy to hold on to. There is no real smell or taste to this toy. The plastic is of high quality, it does not feel flimsy or easily breakable in the least. It feels very high quality for this price point.

Design / Shape / Size

I flat out love the design of the Petal. It is shaped similarly to a flower petal, hence the name, and this design is much improved from the basic egg shape. The toy is oval like an egg but slightly pointed at one end like a rounded triangle. The point allows for directed, pinpoint stimulation. One side of the toy is more bulbous than the other which allows for more broad stimulation, for example it is useful for labial stimulation, or if you don't like the direct vibrations. The size of this egg is about standard for egg vibrators. It fits easily in the palm of my hand and is not tiring to hold.

The cord is plenty long enough to leave the remote out of the way. Speaking of the control, it is well designed. It is slightly curved and with the velvety coating, is super easy to hold on to. It is much nicer than the flat rectangle shaped controls of other egg-vibes. The Petal's control is also bigger than the average, which could be a hinderance for some people.

One thing about this toy's design that I am unsure of is the additional port where the cord meets the control. There are no instructions concerning this, so I'm not really sure of the point.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is very basic in its controls and function. It is a simple, external vibrator. There are no fancy bells and whistles as far as vibration patterns are concerned. Just eight different speeds. Controlling this toy is also very easy, adjusting with the + and - buttons on the control pack until you reach your desired speed. The ease of use right out of the box makes this toy suitable for beginners.

The vibrations are pretty much all over the egg/petal part of the vibrator, which makes the shape especially versatile. I don't feel loss in vibration intensity by using different parts of the petal for stimulation. The pinpoint tip vibrates just as well as the broad side. Though, this has resulted in my fingers getting a bit numb during extended play. The vibrations are more on the buzzy side of the spectrum and intensity is sacrificed when pressure is applied to the Petal.

This vibe sounds pretty loud out of the package, but I tested it and it cannot be heard through a closed door, so it is discreet enough if you share a house with somebody but not if you share a room.

Changing the batteries is a bit challenging as the battery compartment is a really tight fit and kind of awkward to get to, but thankfully this toy does not guzzle batteries and messing with it won't happen terribly often. The petal runs on 4 AAA batteries.

The Petal is not waterproof at all, so do not even think about getting this near the bathtub/hottub/what have you.

Care and Maintenance

The Petal is not waterproof, so cleaning it is a bit more challenging than a toy you can just dunk in the sink. I find a soap and a damp cloth works well to clean it as do toy cleaning wipes. Just be careful of the area the cord meets the egg and controller.

PU coated plastic is compatible with water and silicone based lubricants and won't melt if you place it near another toy like some materials do. Plastic is a fairly low maintenance material which makes it good for just about anyone.

Packaging

The packaging of the petal is fairly typical of Cal Exotics toys. It is a basic clear plastic box meant to be displayed in a store. The toy is visible through the packaging but there are no obscene words or images on the box. It isn't particularly classy packaging but it isn't trashy either. The plastic is flimsy and is not suitable for long term storage.

No instructions were included, but none were really needed. The toy's functions are listed on the outside of the box.

Experience

This toy made me wonder why I didn't get another egg vibrator after my first one broke. I moved on to insertable toys and different types of bullets, but never returned to the basic corded egg vibe. Now that I have one again, I feel like I was missing out on a basic toy box staple. The petal works great for me for warming up and also for finishing off after using an intense toy. The buzzy vibrations can sometimes be lost for me, but is good in conjunction with other toys/my fingers/other play. I pretty much love this egg. It is of higher quality than the other Cal Exotics toys I have tried, and I hope to keep it around for a good long time!
