A Pleasure to Behold

I got this as a free gift from Eden with an order, so in that respect it was a good value for me. I do think it looks nice and is pleasurable to look at, but for me that was where the pleasure of the Pleasure Petals ended.

Use

The Pleasure Petals is a pleasure in the looks department, but is that where the pleasure ends?

The Pleasure Petals came in a plastic clam shell package that was attractive, but nothing special either. I detected no odor. The package does state that it is velvety smooth, but mine was not as there were several nicks and bumps that were not a part of the flower design and there was also a noticeable seam down the side.

Since I was waiting for another toy that had just arrived to charge I decided to give it a whirl. I opened the battery compartment and a paper fell out and it said, "Please keep this paper. The purpose is to reduce noise when operation." (sic) That was repeated in another language (possibly Chinese?) and below that indicated that 2 "C" batteries were needed. So I hunted up some fresh C batteries popped them in and stuck the paper back in then I screwed the cap back on and twisted the control and it was so quiet - oh wait it is not on. Hmmmm I took batteries back out, tested the batteries, and reinserted them (I double checked they were in correctly!), but still NOTHING.

So I waited until the husband came home and he took a look for me and told me that the batteries were not making good contact and he fixed it by bending a little metal tab inside. So now I are REALLY ready! I turn the knob to turn it on and it barely vibrated, but it was loud. I twisted the control knob and and the vibrations did not get more intense, basically it was on or off. The nicks/bumps and seam that were not a part of the design were bothersome to me, especially upon insertion.

Material / Texture

The texture is mostly smooth with a flower design overlay. The flower design was slightly raised and it did not bother me, but I do not feel that it added anything other than visual appeal. I found the side seam and some random nicks/bumps on the head to be bothersome to me. The toy itself was very firm/hard and had no give.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

This is a traditional vibrator and it is 7 inches long and 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The end is tapered slightly to a point. The size worked fine for me, but might be to big (or to small) for others since we are all different shapes.
It is not discreet.
With the very mild vibrations I feel this would be better for a beginner or someone who does not like a lot in the way of vibration.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The toy was VERY loud even with the paper inserted to lessen the noise. Personally I felt the paper did nothing. I generally have music on to cover any noise and it was as loud as or louder than my music.
The control for on/off and vibration intensity was a dial on the base. The dial did turn the toy off and on but I found no noticeable difference in the vibration intensity when the dial was turned.
The Pleasure Petals is not waterproof.
    • Not discreet at all
    • Not enough variety
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

I felt that the cracks and crevices of the floral design were hard to clean and that lube was stuck in them. I scrubbed it well with a small brush to make sure it was clean.
It is not waterproof so care needs to be taken when washing.
It is recommended to remove batteries after use.
This toy is compatible with lubes that are water, oil or silicone based.
Since it is hard plastic it should not be a lint attractor.
It can be stored in the clam shell it came in or in a toy drawer/box.
    • Hard to clean
Follow-up commentary
I have not used the Pleasure Petals again. While I do not have a lot of toys, I can not see any reason why I would use it again.

Thanks for the review. Damn. I'm so sorry you had problems with it. I own two of them. I do agree they are kinda loud, but the vibrations were AMAZING on mine. This is one of the type that got me off in record time. I just feel bad it didn't work for you.

Seams can really bring me down, it's too bad this wasn't very enjoyable for you.

I think that the loudness really effected my ability to enjoy the vibrations at all - as minimal as they were. It is all good though - I got to try something new at no cost since it was a free gift. While this one was not for me, maybe my next gift will be.
