A Pretty Purple Waterproof Pleaser!

The Pleasure Pal is a great vibrator that can be used in the bedroom or in the water. It's waterproof, which allows for fun in the shower or tub (or even the jacuzzi), and it's vibrations will make you quiver with delight.

extremely useful review
I was excited when Devinn Lane’s Pleasure Pal arrived via the USPS. I don’t have a good g-spot vibrator, and I thought this one from Wicked and Devinn would be fun to try out. While I didn’t have a g-spot orgasm from this toy, I definitely enjoyed the feelings and sensations it created. It was also my first waterproof toy, and that’s something I can’t wait to experiment with more.

The Pleasure Pal is a 7” long vibrator (6” insertable) with a curved tip to hit the g-spot. It is a pretty purple color with iridescent glitter accents all through the jelly. It is semi-realistic looking and nice overall. The Pleasure Pal has a diameter of 1 1/2”, which allows for filling sensations. The Pleasure Pal is made out of jelly, so I was expecting a bit of smell when I opened the package. It’s there, but it’s very faint and not unpleasant. The white plastic base connects to the vibrator’s internal white tube, and the main vibrations are close to the tip of the unit. The texture is firm, and yet has some give. The bottom of the shaft is ringed for external stimulation if the vibrator is fully inserted.

Since it’s made of jelly, the Pleasure Pal can’t be sterilized in boiling water or in the dishwasher. Don’t share this toy unless you use a condom for safety. It should be cleaned with warm water and mild soap or toy cleaner, and stored in a cool dark place away from other toys when not in use. If you choose to use lube, make sure it’s water or silicone based.

This vibrator takes 2 AA batteries, which isn’t a lot of power but sufficient for internal vibration for me (and much better than watch batteries!). The base has a little sticker on it reminding you to securely tighten it to keep it waterproof before exposing it to water. The base has a dial on the bottom which allows you to control the vibrations, from very gentle to fairly strong.

I was excited to give the Pleasure Pal a try, both in the shower and on dry land! I made sure the base was securely tightened before giving it a spin in water. It makes a great clit vibe for warming up that area, and I found I was wet enough in the water that the lack of lube didn’t make any difference. The Pleasure Pal gave me a very enjoyable shower and I was ready for more!

Later that night my husband and I put the Pleasure Pal to use, along with some other toys. I was pleased to find that the toy still worked after its use in the shower, so it definitely is waterproof. We started with some clit play before my husband inserted it all the way inside me. I was a bit worried about the curvature of this toy and if it would have to be inserted a particular way to be comfortable, but the curve is not so strong or hard that this was a problem.

We've used this toy a lot since it arrived, and I'm pleased to say that it's remained waterproof. I really like the width and length of this toy, and I am quite happy with this vibe as a clit teaser and insertable vibrator. Using AA batteries instead of watch batteries is also a plus! We have not tried it anally and since the base is not flared, I would not recommend using it for anal penetration. Overall, this toy would be a good addition to anyone’s collection!
Follow-up commentary
I love the fact that this toy is truly waterproof. It has found a permanent place in my bathroom, where it can join me in the shower at a moment's notice. The batteries last a reasonable amount of time, and it's great for a morning sexual release. If only it looked like a rubber ducky, I would not have to hide it between uses!

Great review! It looks like a lot of fun, even if it is jelly.

That's the only drawback it has.

This toys name is quite hilarious but I guess it is a reliable "pal" from your very detailed review.

Thanks!

This was my first toy. It did the trick but was not perfect. I keep meaning to go back and write a review. Good review!

Forum
  • What the heck is this (really) made of?
    • (I posted this in the Materials forum, but it doesn't seem too active over there, so figured I'd try here.)

I have this vibe & was pondering reviewing it, but I was looking at the info. on it & I got confused. The EF info. says it's made of jelly. I bought it elsewhere & my box says "Pthalate-Free PVC." The materials information guide here tells me that jelly is actually the same thing as PVC (both being polyvinyl chloride), which would make them both unsafe (both safety rated as 2). However, the guide says Pthalate-Free PVC is safety rated 8. Soo...

A)What the heck is the silly thing made of?

      B) Is there a special version of PVC that is made without pthalates for use in things where it would matter? Such as sex toys? (And, if so, why are companies still making the old pthalate-y stuff?) This vibe only smelled plasticy when I very first opened it & the odor went away quickly. It wasn't greasy-feeling & I haven't had any problems with it.

      C) I haven't had toys until recently, but from what I recall from friends & stores, I associate jelly with being super-squishy & PVC with pipes. Yet, this vibe is notably firm. Does jelly come in different levels of firmness? I've avoided some jelly toys that looked interesting more because I thought they would be floppy than due to safety reasons. (If I like them, I'll use a condom & I'm not sharing, so no biggie).

Anyone able to clarify a bit?
    • Your best bet is to drop Al Bloom (the CalExs rep) an email and ask him all these questions. He's super helpful, and could probably answer all of them for you, since he's actually from the company that manufactures the product. Hope this helps! :)

Ah, thanks. I will do that. :)

(I actually just got a couple jelly toys today & they feel like what I was thinking of as jelly- very squishy & smelly & totally different from the one I'm asking about. So, I'm quite curious.)

Thanks for pointing me the right direction.
