All or nothing!

If you're looking for a thrifty but powerful pocket rocket with intense vibrations this is the toy for you. fully waterproof, you can take it into the shower, tub or pool! However, if you're into variations in vibration intensity or patterns, look elsewhere.

Use

EdenFantasys recently provided me with Cal Exotic's Mega Mite for review and I was eager to receive it in the mail as it was my first 'Pocket Rocket' type vibrator. To my utter surprise, I really enjoyed using this vibrator for sensory play and on my nipples with a little bit of water-based lubricant more than I did directly stimulating my clitoris. Remember, the Mega Mite is for external use only: meaning you don't want to insert this into any orifices, wherever they may be. The toy itself packs a bit of punch for it's moderate price (Around 3-4 bees depending on the person) and perhaps the more sensitive among us might want to look at a toy with more variation in its vibration--especially if you're like me and want to build up to stronger stimulation instead of starting of at MAX VOLUME.

Material / Texture

Upon opening the package (as silly as it was, I'll get to that in a second), there was no apparent smell. There is also no real taste to the material, especially as most of it is hard plastic. Since it is made of plastic, Mega Mite is an 8 on the material safety chart, which means it's non-porous and phthalate-free. Theoretically, since the Mega Mite is made of plastic, you can choose to use water, oil, or silicone-based lubes with this toy, HOWEVER, the packaging states that you want to use a water-based lube with this toy. In fact the exact words are, "Always use a water-based lubricant with this product for maximum pleasure."

To clean this toy you just need some anti-bacterial soap and warm water or a toy wipe and you're all set. This toy is not silicone and should not be boiled.

The little oscillating nubs are made of a squishy but firm plastic and provide a little bit of drag or 'grabbiness.' Some people may like this sensation but I found that I enjoyed my toy a bit more with a little bit of lube smoothing things out. Also, I know that many pocket rockets have metal balls instead of plastic ones and I have read in some reviews that the metal balls apparently provide more intense stimulation but I believe that this, too, varies by person. The main thing you should probably concern yourself is whether you want a smoother, harder material or softer, more textured one.
    • Bumpy
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

I really liked the design of this toy. True, it's not much different than other Pocket Rocket type toys, but it's small and easy to travel with (remember to take out the battery first!). The toy itself fits in my outstretched hand, just slightly longer than my palm. I personally loved the vibrant red color it came in. It's not an intimidating toy, so it's good for first timers as well as more advanced users and it's a good deal for its price.

Mega Mite also runs on a single AA battery which is great because AA is probably the most common and easiest-to-find battery out there so you don't have to worry about going to a specialty store for a watch battery or anything like that.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This is where we get into the real pros and cons of this toy. First of all, this toy is waterproof. You can take it into the shower, bath or shallow-end of a pool. I personally took this toy into the shower since I don't have a tub in my house and I ran it under a full kitchen sink for a bit to see if it could hold it's own under about a foot of water. It did not disappoint. However, it is IMPORTANT to remember that twisting the toy all the way to the left OPENS the battery compartment of this toy. It pops open rather enthusiastically, in fact. So you should be careful when turning this toy off--if you turn it off underwater or in the proximity of the water and slip just a bit you could suddenly have a ruined toy. The turning part of this toy has a long arrow pointing to the functions so this presumably won't happen but if you're in the heat of the moment, accidents can easily occur. Better be safe than sorry: remove your Mega Mite from a moist environment before attempting to shut it off.

Also: You don't want to store your battery in this toy as the packaging specifically states so and other reviews have mentioned Mega Mite will drain batteries even in the off position. (Even though I never store my battery operated toys with the batteries in in order to prevent corrosion. A seal-able sandwich baggie works wonders.)

As mentioned before this toy is pretty powerful. Mega Mite packs a punch for it's size and price. Unfortunately, this toy has two settings: off and on. If you're like me and are a bit sensitive, this toy may not be for you. If you like working up to stronger vibrations, or enjoy a toy with patterns, this is also not for you.

As for sound, I rated this toy 3 bees but I was tempted to rate it 2 because, while I can hear it under the covers I cannot hear it my door when it is closed. Since it is not as quiet as my regular vibrator and since other houses might be arranged differently I settled on 3. I believe that this toy would be dormitory safe.
    • Not enough variety
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

This toy is very easy to clean. As mentioned earlier it's plastic which is non-porous so some anti-bacterial soap and some warm water should clean this toy just fine. I remove the battery before cleaning this toy just to be on the safe side. I've never used toy wipes or toy cleaning spray but I assume that those would work just as well. You don't want to boil this toy unless you want to break it.

Mega Mite is 'waterproof' though so you shouldn't be afraid of breaking it while cleaning. Overall it's pretty easy to clean.

Remember: It's always best if you clean the toy before and after use and the Mega Mite packaging encourages this practice as well.

As far as storage goes, this is a relatively small toy and is easy to store. I keep it in a ziploc bag with a loose battery so I don't have to go groping for batteries whenever I want to use it. Remember to take your battery out before storing this product.

Packaging

Okay, so the packaging is a bit cheesy to me. It screams 1980's -1990's campy sexy star to me. In fact, I found the packaging to be a bit embarrassing but perhaps I'm just spoiled by the ergonomic and chic packaging from companies like Fun Factory or Je Joue. It's plastic and not reusable or discreet. It's made of plastic and features a sexy, fully made-up girl pulling down her bikini bottoms as she stands (Photoshopped or at the very least standing at an unnatural angle) in a pool. Personally, I think the packaging would appeal more to a teenage boy than a woman, but maybe that's just me. Here's a photograph I took of it so you can form your own opinions:

All in all, it didn't really turn me off of the toy but I certainly didn't save it. I just had a good laugh and tossed it.
    • Not discreet
    • Not good for storage
Follow-up commentary
I just don't use this toy but please don't let my 'I still don't like it' rating bother you. I'm just not a fan of pocket rockets in general. They are a bit too buzzy for my liking and the lack of variation in the vibrations is a big no-go for me. That being said, this is a great product for what it is. It's powerful, it looks nice, it's splash-proof and economical so--if you like pocket rockets and you want something that will buzz you with intensity, this is still a good product for you.
