Holes for the straps are holding up just fine -- no signs of tearing -- I've had and used mine for about 6 months now.
Yes, I have tried walking around with it on, and it does stay in place pretty well, you can adjust the straps as tight or loose as you'd like.
Are the straps a one size fits all deal?
