Reflections hope - traditional vibrator discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by shorejen9

Reflections Hope by Doc Johnson is a glass traditional style vibrator. Yes, glass and yes, it vibrates! Hope is a short, straight vibrator with a bullet inside that has three vibration strengths and is accentuated with ridges and bumps along the deep pink opaque glass shaft. This vibrator would be great for anyone who loves toys with more girth and intense texture. Due to its small length and straight design, it may not please those who like g-spot stimulation or longer length. Hope has a great heftiness to her without her being too heavy and is quiet enough for use in a roommate situation.

Hope is made of glass in a deep pink opaque color with clear ridges along the top half of the shaft and deep blue dots or bumps on the bottom half of the shaft. I love glass toys and vibrating toys so I had to have Hope in my toy box. I also love texture but found the texture to be a bit much for my personal preferences. Thrusting with this toy was painful rather than enjoyable due to the height of the ridges and the girth of the toy. The toy on its own is not that wide but the ridges really add to it and caused some irritation for me. I would not recommend this toy to beginners who have not used other textured toys because of this. The material is a beautiful deep pink glass and nice and smooth where there is not texture added. Hope had no smell or taste whatsoever.

Hope is shaped like a torpedo with ridges along the upper half and bumps on the lower half. The total length is about 6 inches and about 4.75 inches are insertable. The circumference is about 4.75 inches around or about 1.5 inches in diameter. The ridges made me feel very full when inserted, which is a good feeling; however, when used for thrusting this actually hurt. Used externally, I loved the ridges and the combined with the vibrations, it made for an enjoyable experience. This size overall is good for beginners but I would caution about the texture being too intense for those not used to or not preferring texture. Hope can be stored quite easily in a drawer or on a shelf, as she is smaller than most of my toys. However, there is no hiding the fact that it is a sex toy. If you remove the batteries for travel, then the size and quietness of Hope make her great for travel.

Hope requires just one AA battery that is inserted into the bottom of the vibrator. You simply unscrew the bottom and put the battery in. Hope is waterproof, which is great for play and clean up. Hope is very simple to use as she has a push button on the very bottom of the battery cap. To turn her on and change the speeds, you simply push the button. I found the button to be a bit large for its location. I found myself accidentally hitting the button and changing the speed when I did not want to be. Once I got used to it and adjusted my grip, I had better luck with not doing this. The vibrations are decent and rumbly (not too buzzy) which was a really nice discovery. The glass allows for two great benefits in respect to the vibrations: first, the vibrations are carried well throughout the shaft and into the tip of the toy and second, the glass is thick and cuts down on the noise considerably. Hope can barely be heard through covers and cannot be heard from a few feet away! However, if you are wearing any jewelry or using Hope in the tub, the vibrations against hard surfaces are crazy loud! Just a word of caution.

Glass is one of my favorite materials for cleaning and using lubricants. You can use any type of lube you want with glass and Hope is no different. For cleaning, use antibacterial soap and water and a soft cloth. You do not have to worry about the battery cap since Hope is waterproof. Make sure Hope is dry before storing her. I made a pouch for her and have her with my other toys in my nightstand.

Hope comes in a see-through plastic box with writing on it. It is not discreet at all. You can see the product clearly. Hope is inside the box nestled in a plastic shell so she does not get damaged during shipping. The box may not be suitable for long term storage. There are some very basic instructions on the side of the box but not much.

I was so excited to give Hope a try. I won't say that it is a complete letdown but I will not be using her for much internal enjoyment. I was able to thoroughly enjoy her externally and for that alone, I am happy! I love glass, love texture and love vibrations but the texture was too much for thrusting. I was also frustrated with Hope in that she could graze my g-spot but not stimulate it as much as I like. I did not purchase her for g-spot stimulation and she does not claim to do that but I had hoped, so I cannot fault her on it to be honest. I am giving her three stars because she cannot be used internally for me and that is a big issue. Normally, that would have been only two stars but being that she does a great job externally and is waterproof, I am bumping her to three.
