Beautiful and amazing

Soraya performed in every way that I hoped it would. It's powerful and quiet. It has amazing vibrating patterns that satisfy in a way my other vibrators never have before. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the plastic that runs the length of the shaft. This plastic is pretty, but causes some issues with cleaning. I really wish the entire shaft was silicone, at least on the outside.

Use

Soraya is best used alone or to get you warmed up during foreplay. It has two vibrating zones. One zone is insertable, while the other end stimulates the clitoris. There are several vibrating patterns to make sure you get the stimulation you are looking for. One mode may just tease you and get you warmed up for your partner, while others may have you orgasmic in under a minute.

I find that Soraya is my go to vibrator for all occasions now. It has enough variation and power to do what I want, when I want, and where I want. The three buttons allow you to control the vibration patterns as well as the intensity of the vibrations. It's also quiet so you can use it without worry of someone hearing the toy.

This was a splurge purchase that has paid off over and over again.

Material / Texture

Soraya is very firm with a silicone covering that has a velvety feel. There is no weird smells associated with the toy or residue. The shiny plastic that is found on both sides has stayed shiny, and has not reacted with any lubes or bodily fluids.

The texture of the silicone is pleasant to touch. The clitoral vibrator is firm, but soft and pliable to give you just the right amount of pressure. It is covered in the silicone completely.

Design / Shape / Size

Soraya's design is beautiful and eye catching. I dislike the seam that is created where the silicone meets the plastic, since this causes a crevice that isn't the easiest to clean. It may have been much better if the shiny plastic was only part of the handle, instead of all the way up the shaft. Despite this minor issue, I enjoy everything else about Soraya.

It has a nice length and it is larger at the top, and then tapers in towards the base. It is a good size for beginners, but will more than satisfy an advanced user. It's more about the vibrations than size when you use Soraya.

total length: 8.5 inches
insertable length: 5 inches
circumference: 4 inches
diameter:1.5 inches

clitoral attachment:
length: 2.25 inches
circumference:2.75 inches
diameter: 0.75 inches

It is a rechargeable toy which means it has a plug that may make it difficult to hide if you leave it charging, as I do most of the time. It will hold a charge, so you may charge it overnight and then put it away until the next use. It does have a lock mode so you can travel with your toy and not worry about it accidentally turning on. It also comes with a very nice bag to keep it in.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Soraya has 3 buttons to control it; a plus and minus button to control the vibration intensity, and the middle button which controls the programmed vibration patterns. There are 10 levels of vibration intensity that range from a light buzz to a very intense vibration. You can either press the plus or minus to up the intensity level, or just hold them down to raise or lower the intensity. You hold the minus sign down to turn it off.

Pressing the middle button will allow you to cycle through the 8 different vibration patterns. The first three let you choose whether the shaft vibrates, the clitoral extension vibrates, or both. The 5 other patterns have both zones vibrating in multiple patterns that range from pulsating to escalating and combinations of the two.

The controls are located on the handle which makes it fairly easy to use. The symbols are raised so you can feel which buttons you are pressing without looking. The way the handle is designed makes it easier to keep your grip and push the buttons, even if it gets a little slippery with lube. You can easily slide a couple of fingers through the loop to keep control of the toy.

It's a very powerful and exciting toy to use and surprisingly quiet, especially when inserted. It has a low buzz that won't be heard through your closed door or walls into the bedroom next door. It's also waterproof as well. There is port to plug in the toy and recharge it. The silicone is cut into an X at this point that allows you to plug it in, but when you remove the plug it seals back up. I wouldn't recommend submerging it for long periods of time, and I would avoid pressing the port area if it is submerged to avoid water getting inside the toy. I've washed mine many times and haven't had any issues.

Care and Maintenance

You only need warm water and a mild soap to clean the toy. It contains silicone so you should only use cleansers that are safe for silicone toys. There is a seam created where the silicone meets the metallic looking plastic, and this can cause issues when cleaning. I would recommend cleaning your toy immediately after each use to prevent any bacteria build-up. I also inspect my toy regularly to make sure the seam is clean and clear of debris.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

It comes in a large black box with the LELO name on it. It's snuggly placed in a foam cutout to keep it secure. The box also contains the charger, a satin storage bag, a warranty booklet and instructional booklet. The box is rather large, but can be easily placed in a shallow drawer if you choose to use the box for storage. I prefer the satin bag, because I can plug it in while it is in the satin bag to recharge it.
    • Good for storage

  • Non p-spot toys for p-spot use?
    • So am I barking up the totally wrong tree or does it seem like there are some toys that would be awesome on the p-spot, even though they might not be intended for that? When I first saw the Insignia Soraya I got really curious, but is it ill-advised to be used as a man's toy? Are there any great "crossover" toys? Maybe with really strong vibes?
    • I think you could definitely use this for prostate stimulation. It may not be intended for anal use but the clitoral stimulating arm would work well as a taint stimulator and would keep the toy from getting lost in your ass so it should be safe to use.

You do whatever you want with it. :-) I have a toybox full of "straight" toys that I enjoy for anal.

  • My Two Cents (From A Soraya Owner of 1yr)
    • (Sorry in advance for how lengthy this post is.)

Just wanted to throw in my two cents for those of you that are still contemplating purchasing the Insignia Soraya.

To date, the Soraya is the most expensive toy that I own. I don't generally splurge on toys. But, the Soraya definitely checked off all the requirements I was looking for in a dual-action vibrator -- rechargeable, waterproof, ergonomic shape, strong vibration strength, quietness. So, I figured it was well worth the investment. A year later, the Soraya is still arguably my favorite toy that I own. I want to emphasize that. However, there are certain flaws that have appeared over the course of a year that I wanted to share with you.

(The following are listed in sequential order in which they occurred.)

Gapping between metallic inlay and silicone.
      ---
From the pictures, this gap is really hard to notice. However, it became more apparent even after the toy was used once. The toy's materials (ABS plastic and silicone) are very hygienic and easy as ever to clean. Yet, the tiny crevice created where these materials join together is an entirely different story. It is nearly impossible to clean this crevice. The only thing I've found that works slightly is a thin, folded piece of paper to force out some of the debris. But, don't expect any amount of soap and water to clean this crevice. This can be especially problematic if you intend on sharing your toy. I, personally, do not share my toys. But, even still, this became a little disgusting after a while.

Flaking of the metallic coating on the plastic.
      ---
After about 6 months, I noticed a small area where the metallic coating began to flake off of the plastic, revealing a not-so-shiny white plastic beneath. The area was very tiny and perhaps not so noticeable. But, given how much the toy costs, occasional use and a cleaning of warm water and soap should not be able to flake the coating off, in my opinion. It also concerned me that the toy could possibly continue to flake off when I was using the toy.

      Hole formed over charging port.
      ---
Perhaps one of the most innovative things about the Soraya is that the toy is rechargeable and waterproof. There is a tiny pinhole in the silicone that you puncture the cable through in order to charge the toy. Yet, the pinhole is so tiny that water will not get inside the toy. Unfortunately, after about 12-15 charges, that pinhole was no longer a pinhole. Over time, tiny pieces of silicone began to fragment off where the cable had punctured. The hole, while arguably still very small, became large enough for water to get inside of the toy. It was from that point on that I didn't trust the toy as being waterproof anymore. I also had to be a lot more cautious washing the toy to make sure water didn't get inside.

      Motor malfunction.
      ---
This happened about 8 months into owning the toy and I still have no explanation as to what happened. The toy reached a point where, as long as it had some charge to its battery, there was no way to turn the toy off. Even on its lowest setting, it was operating on some sort of sub-setting that was below anything the keypad could control. There was no way to turn the toy off. No minus of the arrow would turn it off. The keypad didn't even recognize the toy as being on at all. I could turn it up. But, I could never turn it off. My only option was to wait for the battery to die completely. Then, it would finally stop vibrating. As soon as I'd go to charge the toy, within a millisecond of connecting it, the motor was locked on again with no way to turn it off. It was an endless, annoying cycle. I eventually got fed up with this and took advantage of LELO's 1-year warranty.

From the minute I purchased the Soraya, it was like an investment for me. And once I received the toy, I always took excellent care of it. I always monitored the toy when it was charging to make sure it didn't overcharge and fry the battery. The toy was always thoroughly cleaned with soap and warm water. When not in use, it was stored in its original boxed packaging. All in all, the issues were mostly cosmetic. Yet, these issues led to problems with the overall function of the toy. Luckily, these issues happened sooner than later and I could take advantage of the warranty for the motor issue. I think I would have been a little more than irritated if I was only left to the 10-year warranty (which only gives you 50% off a new LELO toy).

Regardless of all of these issues, the Soraya was still the best toy I had ever purchased (when it was still functioning properly at least). All of my expectations were met and it was exactly what I was looking for. My point of writing this review is not to deter you from purchasing the Soraya. Chances are, it will be your dream toy. However, I wanted to inform you on the potential flaws of the toy. (This is to say that not everyone will have the same issues I have had.) Given the price and investment of the toy, I know many of you are going through the same intense decision-making process that I did. So, I just wanted to give you my two cents after owning the toy for a little over a year now.

Hopefully, you all will find at least some of this helpful. If you would like my feedback on anything else about the toy, I'd be more than happy to help.

      Happy shopping!

  • How is the Insignia Soraya at clean up?
    • I hear these toys are really difficult to clean :/
    • I've heard that, too, and it's really put me off them. :/

I do wonder if maybe there was a defect of if they've corrected it but I'd want something solid to go on before investing that much in something that could have really gross issues.

It isn't very difficult to clean but, you do need to pay a little more attention to the this one as opposed to a toy that is a solid silicone toy. I described a seam between the metallic looking plastic and the silicone in my review. I just like to inspect that seem to make sure it is clean on a regular basis. Otherwise all you need is some soap and running water to clean this toy.
