Best friend on (solo) road trips, keeps me company working at home.

This vibrator is worth the money for the strong orgasms alone- but it also provides great low-level stimulation whenever your mind may be wandering while you're doing sit-down work. The Cone is great as a sex toy, and as a stress-relief toy.

Use

Twisted Product's "Cone" shines in two distinct areas, and is completely unique in the second.

First, the Cone can deliver very intense orgasms. The high quality (3000 rpm!) motor, rigid vibration-amplifying construction, and eleven of the sixteen programmed settings combine to treat my nerve endings to some of the strongest sensations I've ever felt from a toy. (A bit of experimentation might be necessary to find the best positions for you - for my body type, setting the cone on the flat part of a couch or chair and resting my thighs around the cone, while supporting my back against the chair/couch back works best.) Setting aside insertion, the Cone leaves nothing to be desired that any other vibrator could deliver.

Looking at the Cone again, though, we see that it stands the lone contender in a whole 'nother arena. Even if comparable vibrators existed, I feel confident that the Cone would stand triumphant, but especially as the innovator, I couldn't be happier with its performance. When left in one of the constant-speed first five programmed settings, the Cone makes an excellent background stimulation while you sit and read, work, or have your mind anyplace. It may not be true for everyone, but I discovered I can really improve my focus on what would otherwise be humdrum tasks when my whole body is tingling. Say what you will, but I credit a slight jump in my GPA to this vibrator when I first got it.

Material / Texture

The cone is quite rigid (the design coming originally from the S&M world), and covered with a thin layer of silicone. The rigidity is great- you can position yourself however works best for you, and no amount of pressure will cause the vibrations to slow down. The strongest vibrations are at the tip of the Cone, so if you want a calm vibration you simply slide down the back until your clit has exactly what it wants. The two-pound vibrator is more than capable of holding your weight.

The silicone covering is matte and provides a little bit of friction against bare skin, helping you to stay aligned with ease. There is no odor to be reckoned with.

The hard plastic base (home of the battery access flap) has frictive footpads to prevent slippage if you're grinding your Cone on a smooth surface.

Overall, the construction of this vibrator is best in its class. (Does the Cone even have a class?) I have been using it on a regular basis for nearly three years now, and it has yet to show a single sign of wear. Too bad boyfriends haven't held up as well as the Cone has!

Design / Shape / Size

The Cone is designed like no other sex toy. I absolutely love its stability, and I love that, if I want movement, my body is responsible for moving.

The size seems to be ideal for everything except storage. Five inches of height allows you to comfortable perch atop the tip of the Cone without straining your legs (for a longer session you might want to brace yourself against the back of the couch, anyway); or, sitting down you can wedge the cone under yourself such that your clit is exactly where you want it and the base of the Cone supports your weight comfortably across your butt. The 7.5" diameter base provides what seems to be the perfect slope for support and easy access to the vibrating tip.

I have a hard time describing the Cone as "travel-friendly," because it's clearly large, awkward, heavy, and would take up space in a suitcase. Despite this, my Cone has improved many a long distance solo road trip. Keeping it in one of the lowest two settings (with my pants on, of course) seems to improve my posture, and definitely improves my mood. So- travel friendly *if* you're traveling alone.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The cone has two slightly-raised buttons poured as part of the silicone cover, and one subsurface indicator light (in case the vibrations weren't enough to let you know that the motor's running?). Pressing the right button turns the Cone on in its mildest, constant speed mode. The left button cycles through sixteen settings. Check out the Virtual Cone simulation to listen to the sixteen vibration patterns. When you're ready to get off or turn your Cone off, press the right button again to jump to orgasm mode, or hold the button down to sit through 2 seconds of orgasm mode while waiting for the motor to shut off. If there was one thing I could change about this vibrator, I would replace the indicator light with an instant-off button. If someone suspicious of the noise comes knocking on your bedroom door, you have a few excruciating seconds of loud pulses that it's pretty hard to think of a cover story for.

I love the lowest single-speed setting for sitting on my Cone while working or reading, and I love the higher, 'keep-your-clit-guessing' modes when I'm focusing on my body. There's a setting for every purpose, and it's fun to play 'button roulette' as well.

The Cone is definitely on the louder end of the vibrator spectrum. If I'm sitting on it while on a hard chair, I'll put a pillow underneath to muffle sound a bit. If you have thin walls or nosy roommates, you might prefer to crank your stereo when you're enjoying this powerful motor.

Care and Maintenance

Sitting on a shelf in my closet, the silicone covering attracts much less lint than other silicone toys I own, and this is nice, as I use the Cone with my clothes on more often than not. When I want to clean it for against-the-skin use, a wipedown with a soapy washcloth does just fine. When an adventuresome partner wants to give what is primarily a female toy a whirl, a 10% bleach wipedown is in order.

I have never used lube with the Cone, but if you were to, avoid silicone lubes to prevent molecular breakdowns.

Given the intensity of the motor, I was surprised to find that the Cone doesn't burn through batteries, and will keep humming along for 4+hours without power dropping. That's a bonus, as I don't keep C's around the house. (If you're ever caught without C batteries, cradling A batteries in foam disks so that the contacts touch will work without a significant dip in power.)

Packaging

I found more information on the manufacturer's websitethan in the product packaging, which was a simple black pyramidal cardboard box (which I didn't keep around).

Personal comments

The Cone seems (to me) to be a female-geared toy, but I've had two boyfriends ask to test it out as well. Brave Soul #1 liked to nestle the tip up into his perianal area while I was administering oral. Brave Soul #2 liked to press it up against a wall (as shown in the booklet) and gave himself anal orgasms. I have to admit, I was pretty impressed at the Cone's intensity while watching him.
Follow-up commentary
My opinion of the Cone hadn't changed much in the three years I'd owned it before I wrote my review, and it has remained steadfast in the two months since then. The Cone is reliable, strong, awkward to store but easy to use.

I have learned, since acquiring a few other vibrators, that the Cone's vibrations are at a very good frequency for me. They're "rumbly," as some people say. For me, some higher-pitched vibes can leave me feeling tinny and wrong after an orgasm, but the Cone's vibrations are of a perfect quality, and I feel very satisfied by my orgasms with it. I also love that the intensity is adjustable both by all the programmed functions, and by my position. If I don't want the full intensity, I can slide down the Cone to keep my clit further away from the vibrations at the tip. When I do, the vibes at the tip are waiting for me, amazingly powerful.

This is a wonderful choice for a vibrator, and/or deskwork aid.
