Rockstar vibes Joni - traditional vibrator discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Brandon

Before I begin this review over the Joni rockstar vibe by Doc Johnson, I first want to say that before getting this product, my wife had a major meltdown:) Her beloved and favorite vibe finally bit the dust. In doing so, it put us back in the market of purchasing a new vibe. That is when I stumbled across the Joni. I wanted to surprise my wife with this, so I wanted to get something a little different than what we normally buy. When I seen the Joni, it had my wife's name all over it. Towards the bottom of the vibe where the base opens, are two lines of sparkly stud plastic that I am assuming is to resemble diamond/ gems. My wife loves everything shiny so I knew immediately that my choice was made. It had to be the Joni rockstar vibe!

As for use, this product is perfect for either solo or mutual play. My wife loves to use this vibe by herself and many times, it is the first thing we grab when we are together. She not only loves for me to use it on her, but I also enjoy the sensations and vibrations used on me as well. When you think of a vibe normally, you immediately this clitoral of vaginal stimulation. This is not always the case. Another nice feature is that it is waterproof so you can use the vibe however you please. It is a 3-speed vibe and one great feature is that it is on the smaller side so it is very easy to conceal or travel with. Not to mention, it’s the perfect size if you might be new to personal vibrators as it isn’t a intimating size.

The overall vibe is created from plastic, which is a food-grade material that is Hypo-allergenic, latex free, and Phthalates free. In today’s market, these material are used across the board but it is nice to know that they are safe for everyone.

When I first opened the Joni, I was pleasantly surprised that this vibe is very soft to the touch. Doc Johnson says it is made with velvet touch. With that being said, it really isn’t as soft as that but feels very smooth and soft to the tough. Like I mentioned earlier, it has 2 rows of shiny plastic towards the bottom. The edges are very smooth and the transition from the plastic to the vibe is seamless. You can tell that this vibe was created with a high quality to not only be functional, but very durable as well.

Besides the shiny aspect of this vibe, I was very interested in the Joni because of its overall shape and design. We own a wide variety of vibes, but to be honest, my wife really enjoys the vibes to be on the smaller size. The main reason is that smaller vibes fit better is smaller places like the nightstand drawer or easier to conceal during travel. Not only that, but sometimes it is just easier to handle a smaller vibe during use. Which as far as my wife and I are concerned, as long as it vibrates, no matter how big or small, the job WILL get done;) As for the overall size of this vibe, like I mentioned earlier, it would be great for the experienced or beginner buyer. It has a very welcoming size that is very discrete and not intimidating. The length of the Joni comes in at about 5 ½ inches with a 3½-inch insertable length. As for the overall circumference, it is about 4 ¾ inches with a diameter of 1 ¼ inches.

No lets move on to shape and design. The Joni was created with you in mind. This vibe is designed and constructed very well. As far as I am concerned, the Joni really rivals the more expensive higher end vibrators. The easiest way to describe the tip of the Joni is an egg. It literally is in the shape of an egg! As you move down the shaft, you pass another mid section that tappers back out from the end of the “egg” to the beginning of the shiny studded plastic portion. These 2 ridges, along with the 3-speed vibrations can really spice up any situation. One thing that I really liked about this is that it is not the shape size/ shape all the way down the shaft. This really adds to the experiencing and gives you a sense of depth and texture. On the other end of the shiny studs is where the end of this vibe un-screws for battery insertion. It runs off of 3AAA batteries, WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED. For me, this is a pet peeve of mine. I hate to get on a tangent, but this drives me crazy to receive a new toy that does not come with batteries. Granted in hindsight, it really inst that big of a deal, but it just drives me crazy! Anyways, getting back on track ;) at the end of the vibe is the push button to turn the vibe on and filter through the 3 different speeds of vibrations. This button is rubber and is very easy to turn off and on. As much as I would love to say that this is the standard, I have come across many vibes that are horrible to turn off and on. To conclude this section, the Joni fits very nicely in the palm of your hand and is the perfect size to not be too small or unrealistically big.

WOW. When it comes to sound, for the first time, I applaud a vibe! This has to be one of the quietest vibes that we have ever owned. I know this is not a huge deal for some, and it isn’t always a big deal for my wife and I either; but there are times that the noise level is a total deal breaker. I know that on travel or when one might have a next room “neighbor,” the last thing you want is a noisy vibe. With the Joni, you can really put your worries to ease. I mean it is not totally quiet as I would be lying if I said different. But if I am across the room with the TV on, I cannot really hear the vibe on the bed, let alone through outside the door. By all means, if you want a quiet vibe, the Joni is definitely for you!

It has 3 different speeds and is waterproof. I found this nice because it can be used virtually anywhere and with the option of choosing the right speed for you, it will always hit the mark. I know my wife really loves this vibe. For her, it does everything she could possibly as for, It is easy to hold on to, its ethically pleasing to the eyes, and it creates mind numbing orgasms! What more can you ask for? My wife enjoys using the middle speed, while I enjoy the highest speed if she is using it to tease me. From a guy’s perspective, it feels very nice against my balls and tip of my penis. It is very soft to the touch and is quite pleasurable. The Joni performs very well and stands the test of time. It has been used regularly and shows no sign of wear and tear. It still works and looks like it did brand new in the package.

Like everything in life, nothing is flawless. As good as the Joni is, there are a few low points. First off, the battery life really is not that great. I am not sure if it is just ours, but it feels like we are putting new batteries in multiple times a month. Unless you have rechargeable batteries, this can add up. Also I feel that the vibrations could be a little stronger overall. For some reason, the tip of our Joni seems to be less intense and the mid point of the vibe. Its not a dramatic drop-off, but is notable.

After weighing the pros and cons, I rate this vibe about an 8.5 or maybe a little higher when you consider in cost. For its size, design, quietness, and cost, the Joni rockstar vibe by Doc Johnson, is a solid and viable option for almost everyone. As with my wife, it may not become or replace your favorite vibe in your arsenal, but I assure you that it will stand its own among all other vibes!

The Joni rockstar vibe is very easy to clean and care for. Rinse with a little soap and water, dry, and repeat! Then your ready to store!

The packaging is pretty standard for vibes. It is very colorful and artistic. The design of the plastic package compliments the Joni very nicely. At the end of the day, its not a sophisticated box, but still gets the job done.
