While I'm a huge fan of strap-on clit vibes, Mr. Venus Butterfly was far from perfect, actually he's far from anything decent.

Venus Butterfly is a strap on clit vibe made for hands-free play & has a spin dial attatched controller. Unfortunately, it's not hands-free. A couple years ago, Venus Butterfly arrived at my door and I was super excited. So excited in fact I tried to MAKE it work. Fail number one happened when I first tried putting the butterfly's elastic straps which are adjustable over my legs and waist. The waist fit perfectly, but the leg straps are way off even when they were adjusted as loose as possible! I am a 93 pounds so surely my legs aren't just too large. I didn't mind too much, I could handle a little tightness, that is until the straps cut the circulation off from my legs! I was still determined. I love the idea of the hands-free vibe and the straps (had they fit) would've been a real turn on. When I finally gave up I tried unbuttoning the straps only to realize that it wasn't happening. The buttons snap so tightly together that the straps start to rip when you try unbuttoning them.

Fail number 2 happened when the butterfly was securely on and he refused to lie flat on my crotch. No matter what, he insisted on raising his back end straight up in the air. Holding the butterfly to your lady parts is the only way it'll lie flat.

The butterfly's abdomen is the housing area for the bullet vibrator. I thought the vibrator itself was very nice and strong. The only way I was able to get any satisfaction out of him was by manually pressing it onto my clitoris. The straps are useless. I did enjoy using it with no straps while pressing it to my lady parts, but being that the purpose of the straps are to be hands free, I was not impressed. If this toy had been made better to fit, it certainly would've made for a fun toy and it would've ended up getting a great deal of use. Instead was replaced with a better strap on vibe.

After the first use, I was willing to give it another try. I had him on lying flat on my back when the darn thing ripped! The butterfly's wing ripped right in two.

The butterfly has a small tail that seems to be made for insertion or a little entrance teasing, but since his rear sticks up in the air unless you hold it down it's really useless.

Then there's the beak that looks promising, but is so hard and pointy that it tends to only poke causing a great deal of discomfort and even pain if you aren't very careful. The vibrations are intense on about any speed which is nice, but causes my girly parts to go numb. If you like to grind on toys the beak can be dangerous.

It has a cord attached controller with a little spin dial to change the speeds. The controller is a very thin, cheap plastic which houses the batteries as well. Be careful while opening the battery compartment as the plastic will break very easily.

Aside from the beak being as hard as plastic, the rest of the butterfly is very soft. It's not as squishy as the sting ray strap on I have, but it's a bit pliable. I found the material to be too firm for my liking for a strap on clit vibe. If any pressure is applied while it's on it tends to dig into my bones.

It's made of TPR and has a material safety level of 7. The straps are elastic with a pink thin fabric covering it, but it's hardly stretchy. It is latex and phthalates free as well as hypo allergenic. I didn't notice a scent.

While the abdomen is ribbed, it didn't help me out any. I think this type of toy is perfect for beginners, but I would never recommend this particular one. I would recommend other strap-on clit vibes though. I've had a great experience with another strap on clit vibe, but this one was nothing but a hassle. I think advanced users could enjoy this type of toy as well and it would make for some serious clitoris and labia stimulation during sex or any time if the thing actually stayed on correctly. There's nothing intimidating about the cute little guy.

The little tail is a bit flexible as are the wings, but the abdomen is hard since it's holding the bullet vibrator.

I actually love the design of the butterfly. I loved the sparkly pink little guy, but it was not made to fit well or be hands-free. I was highly disappointed and still frown each time I see it. This toy could've been a real pleaser had the manufacturer actually put any thought into it. I wouldn't say it's discrete, but it isn't non-discrete either. It's small enough to tuck away in a baggy or purse, but it is obvious what it's intended for. It wouldn't be hard to hide away in an drawer or somewhere similar.

I really didn't find the attached controller to be convenient, but it's easy to change the speeds. It has a small spin dial on it for changing vibrations. It doesn't pulse and it's unclear how many speeds there is as it's only labeled "multi-speed" & I'm not able to count them. If you're wearing it during sex the cord can get tangled and pulled on. The cord is long enough to where your partner could control it from a good distance. This toy takes 2 double a batteries and they do last a very long time. It's quiet in sound, but very powerful. I was satisfied with the strong bullet vibrator, but not with direct stimulation as it's so intense it only numbs me. Taking it off and holding the butterfly where you want it can be pleasing though. You may not be as sensitive to the intensity as I am. I appreciate the multi speed, but like I said they are all numbing.

The amount of time I used, or tried using this toy was about 3 hours total. The batteries never died.

The butterfly should not be shared. It is not a waterproof toy so it shouldn't be boiled or put in water. You can wipe it down with the cleaner of your preference or warm water with a drop of soap. The bullet can be removed from the butterfly for easier cleaning and that is useful, but it seemed the butterfly didn't have much stretch to it without ripping.

It is compatible with water and silicone based lubricants. As most people may already know, this type of toy should not be stored with other toys since it can degrade the materials and cause them to "melt." The best way to store the toy is to put it in a safe container such as a baggy or box so it isn't directly touching any other toy. This type of storage also helps keep it cleaner and keeps it from collecting dust, hair, etc.

I wish I could provide specific details here, but I hardly recall the exact packaging. I do remember it coming in a flimsy card board box that was not at all suitable for storage. From what I recall it did contain some sort of nude image on it, but I can't be 100% sure as it has been a very long time ago. The packaging was immediately thrown away. I do not store my toys in packaging that contains nudity.

My partner and I were both disappointed. He was really excited to use it and the fact that it totally numbed my clit was a major turn off. We waited an hour to see if the numbing would subside and I would be able to actually feel any clit stimulation and that didn't happen, even with oral. I wasn't able to fully gain sensation back until the next morning. I actually started worrying that I'd done damage to myself! Overall this toy was a total disaster.
