Charisma ripply - discreet vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Charisma Ripply by Cal Exotics is available in the colours pink or black. I received the black toy to review. Ripply arrived in a rectangular plastic package. The front of the package states the product name, company name, and a few of the product features. The toy can also be seen through the front of the packaging. The back of the packaging states a few more product features and website. The packaging is not discreet. It can be used to store the toy or it can be recycled.



Ripply is made of ABS, which is plastic. The toy has a coating on it that makes it feel very velvety. The only non-coated part of the toy is the silver coloured ring, right above the base of the toy. This ring is also ABS but just isn’t coated. The toy can be used with silicone or water-based lubricants. The front of the toy has a wavy texture. There are 3 “waves” if you include the curved tip. There are 4 ridges to the toy; 2 on each side. The ridges sit between the “waves”. The very back of the toy is smooth with no texture. There are no seam lines to the toy and it has no flexibility to it.



The total length of the toy is approximately 5 1/8 inches. The insertable length, which would be from the tip of the toy to right above the silver coloured ring, is 3 ¾ inches. You could always insert more of the toy but you’d then be inserting some of the battery compartment. The button is located at the very bottom of the base so inserting a bit more length would not get in the way of anything.

The circumference of the shaft varies from 3-3 ½ inches. The head of the toy has the largest circumference of 3 ½ inches. The second and third waves have a circumference of 3 ½ inches. The circumference of the shaft is smallest right above the silver coloured ring, where the circumference measures only 3 inches. It’s a fairly small toy in both length and circumference. The size is perfect for those who are new to toys or the more advanced toy users who prefer the shorter, more slender insertables. The texture isn’t too pronounced either. The ridges stand less than 1/16 of an inch tall.

The toy requires 1x AA battery, which is not included. There is a battery installation manual that is included in the packaging, though it’s really simple to do without it. To access the battery compartment, just twist the base (beneath the silver coloured ring) off. It’s very easy to open and close the compartment. There is a thick, clear O-ring at the compartment to ensure that no water gets into it. Just be sure to close the lid tightly if you’re bringing it into the water.



Charisma Ripply has only one button to it. The button is located at the very bottom of the base. There was no included instruction manual with the toy but it’s very simple. I’ll also explain how it is used. So once the battery is in, you’re ready to go. Press the button once to turn the toy on. You’ll know the toy is on because it will be vibrating and the ring around the button will light up a white colour. The first function that you’re met with when you turn the toy on is the high, constant vibration.



There are a total of ten functions to Charisma Ripply. Just continue pressing the button to cycle through the different functions. The functions are as follows:

1. High, constant vibration
2. Medium, constant vibration
3. Low, constant vibration
4. Very short pulses that escalate from low to high
5. Medium speed pulses, medium intensity level
6. Medium speed pulses, high intensity level
7. Short pulses, high intensity level
8. Short pulses, medium intensity level
9. Long pulses, high intensity level
10. Short pulses, low intensity level

The toy can be turned off at any time by holding the button down for 3 seconds. When you turn the toy off and then back on, you’re not met with the first function. Whatever setting you turn the toy off at, you will turn the toy back onto the very next setting. So, say you turn the toy off on function three (low, constant vibration). If you turn the toy back on, you’ll be met with the fourth function, which is the medium pulse on medium intensity. If you want to be back at the first function, you’ll need to either cycle through all the settings or twist the battery compartment lid off and then back on again.

The vibrations are strongest at the head of the toy and dampen as you move down the shaft. The highest vibration setting can be heard through a closed door but the medium and low intensity levels cannot. The lower levels can be heard from beneath the covers. The vibrations are more buzzy than rumbly, but are fairly strong on the highest setting. The highest setting produces a 3.5-4 vroom level vibration. For myself, I need the more rumbly vibrations and prefer a 4-5 vroom level but the Charisma Ripply would be good for those who like the buzzy vibrations. I just find them weaker then the deep rumbles and I’m a power-queen.

The toy should not be used anally since it does not have a flared base. I used the toy both internally and externally. Externally, the toy just didn’t cut it for me. As I had mentioned, I need scary amounts of power. This is especially true when I use toys for external stimulation. The toy works well for external stimulation because the vibrations are most prominent at the head of the toy but they just were not strong enough for me. I preferred using the toy internally.

I didn’t find the textures to be that noticeable; though I’m used to more pronounced textures to my toys. The texture to Charisma Ripply is subtle enough for beginners. The slight curve to the tip of the toy is nice but I’ve never actually had a G-spot orgasm. This toy has not changed that. I did enjoy it though. I prefer curved toys that have a wider head like Ripply does rather than the toys that taper to a more narrow point.

Below are a few size comparison photos. The first photo shows you Ripply beside Posh Teaser 3. They are both made by Cal Exotics and are similar in shape and texture. I prefer the Posh because it is silicone rather than plastic and it’s larger. The second comparison photo shows you the Charisma Ripply beside a 355mL can of soda and a 500mL bottle of water.





Cleaning Ripply is simple. You can clean the toy with soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. Being able to submerge the toy in water makes cleaning the toy fast and easy. I had submerged the toy and it works perfectly in the water. You can also sterilize the toy by wiping it down with a bleach/water solution or with rubbing alcohol.

I’ve deducted one star from the rating because the toy doesn’t have strong, rumbly vibrations. It’s disappointing because those are the vibrations that I need to be satisfied. It’s got a number of great qualities, is easy to use, and is suitable for beginners. I think it’s a great toy but just not the toy for me.
