Curiosity Killed the Clit

In the curious case of the Bcurious, form does not follow function. The unique design seems to compromise the variety in uses. Though the intensity is better suited to beginners, the rigid shape may not fit every anatomy. The vibrations are more akin to a standard bullet, yet the Bcurious’ price tag definitely does not reflect this.

Use

The Bcurious is a clitoral stimulator by Bswish. Bswish is an American company that prides itself on fashionable designs and . Each design is intended to cater to a specific mood. This explicitly curiosity satiating model is intended to hug the contours of the body and excite those sensitive bits.

Bcurious is not meant for internal use. Though the first inch or so can be inserted in the vagina, it is mainly restricted to external use. Do not insert the Bcurious anally as it is not safe to do so.

Aside from the proposed use for clitoral stimulation, Bcurious can stimulate the nipples, labia, testicles, and even the outer anal area. Anywhere vibrations feel good, Bcurious can be a suitable option.

A great choice for travel, this toy is also waterproof. It can be taken anywhere and enjoyed anytime, by anyone.

Material / Texture

The Bcurious is made of very smooth plastic. This hard, body-safe material is rated an 8/10 on Eden's safety scale. Bswish also ensures that the plastic they use is RoHS compliant. There is a silicone band that runs the perimeter of the toy. This is the fuchsia colored part of my black and pink version. Silicone scores a 10 on Eden's scale.

These materials are body-safe, hypoallergenic, non-porous and free of latex and phthalates. Bacteria will not manifest on the toy surface and the ability to sanitize the material is comforting.

Plastic is not known to pick up lint and dust, but silicone often does. However, the banded silicone area does not seem to attract debris.

The entire toy, even the silicone portion, is very hard. The plastic is not forgiving in the least and the silicone band does not squish much. This may not be the best choice for beginners, though the design is very beginner-friendly. Aside from the grooves on the top and sides, Bcurious is completely smooth and free of any textures.

I do recall a faint plastic smell when the toy was new. However, there is no scent remaining.

Design / Shape / Size

The Bcurious is by far the most ergonomic toy in my collection. It is exquisite in design and exceptionally comfortable to hold.

Measuring roughly 4 1/2” long and 1 1/2” at its widest points, it fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. It can be tossed in the included pouch for easy and discreet storage. This also makes a handy travel buddy.

The base, where the control pad is located, is more bulbous, while the tip tapers to a thin point. This point has a drastic curve designed to snuggle around the clitoris.

The sides near the base have slight grooves that facilitate gripping. The top also has a large dip in the middle where the index finger can rest.

Depending on the way you choose to grip the Bcurious, the buttons can either be too easy or too cumbersome to press while in use. However, neither circumstance is too problematic.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The larger end of the Bcurious harbors the control pad. This is a squishy silicone pad with two raised button. The bottom button is the designated on/off button. This button must be pressed to activate the toy. Press is once and the blue LED backlight lights up. To turn on the vibrations, the top button must be pressed.

Continue pressing this top button to cycle through the 7 vibration modes. There are 3 steady speeds, followed by 4 pulse patterns. Once the end of the patterns is reached, the vibrations start over at the slow steady speed. There is no way to go backwards through the functions.

At any time, the vibrations can be shut off by pressing the bottom on/off button.

The vibration settings are as follows:
1. Slow steady
2. Medium steady
3. High steady
4. Short, escalating pulses
5. Short pulses
6. Shorter pulses
7. Three pulses, then one longer pulse

The vibrations are buzzy in nature. The high pitched frequency lends a more high pitched sound as well. The intensity is similar to standard bullets and should be suitable for those who do not need a whole lot of power. The sound can be heard through covers on any intensity and may be heard through a closed door on the higher settings.

To charge Bcurious, pull open the cover on the charging port and plug it in. Evidently the newer models include a USB charging method. Mine did not come with this feature. The suggested charge time is 2.5 hours and will need to charge before the first use. I do not find that it takes the full 2.5 hours for a full charge from dead.

Bcurious should last for 2 hours of playtime, depending on the intensity being used. Bswish allows for 60 days of stand-by life, though I have not actually surveyed this.

There is no travel lock. However, the on/off button must first be pressed and then the top button pressed before vibrations will turn on. Though this may not be the best for battery life, it is less likely that the vibrations will randomly start in a bag or suitcase.

The Bcurious is waterproof. When placed in a bowl of water and put to the test, it held up perfectly well. I also noticed that it tended to float and had to hold it under to keep it submerged.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning is made easy with this waterproof design. Once the plug for the DC socket is securely in place, the Bcurious can be safely submerged and effortlessly cleaned.

Use toy wipes or a designated toy cleaner, but a mild antibacterial soap and warm water is always a good way to go.

Do not boil or place the Bcurious in the dishwasher. These cleaning methods will damage the toy. Instead, sanitize it by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol. Always sanitize Bcurious before sharing or when using it around the anus before introducing it vaginally.

Although any type of lube is safe to use with plastic, the silicone band limits the lubes that can be used with Bcurious. Stick to water based lubes only or spot test your lube on the banded portion to be sure before coating the toy in it.

The included pouch is the best and simplest method for storage. The box can be annoying to get into with all its flaps. Both the Bcurious and its charger fit in the pouch.

Packaging

Bcurious is packaged in a cardboard box. Although a woman in a bra and images of the toy are depicted on the box, it is classy enough to be considered for gifting.

There is some basic information on exterior of the box, including some specs and a short blurb about the toy, in many different languages.

There are several flaps at the top before the tray housing a plastic form with the Bcurious can be slid out. Beneath the plastic form, you’ll find a short instruction booklet, the charging cord and the storage pouch.

The instruction booklet appears to cater to Bswish’s entire collection. This is also presented in several languages. It is short and sweet, and very intuitive.

The adaptor slides off and the North American adaptor was the one included with mine. The power cord I received plugs into my wall. Bswish now offers a USB charger but I am unsure if these are currently being stocked at Eden.

The pouch is solid black with a drawstring. The drawstring holds very well without the need to tie the strings together. The inside is a soft, fleecy fabric. There is a small Bswish tag on the side so it can easily be identified in a sea of toy pouches.

The box can be annoying for storage and the toy pouch is just so convenient. The packaging can be recycled, should you decide to discard it.
    • Recyclable
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I lusted after the shape of this one for so long and was immensely disappointed when I finally got my hands on the Bcurious.

I’ve had this one for quite some time now and had to charge it just for this review as I had not used it in so long.

I remember charging it up and setting up to play with it the same day I received it in the mail. I was so excited. That did not last long. While I cradled my clit with the tip, I realized that the rigidity of the plastic was not something I was enjoying. At times it flat out hurt me. One thing I did enjoy was the ability to get up under my clit and lightly pull up on it. It was not long before I found that hurting me as well though.

I hoped that I may get some use out of it if I turned it and used the flatter surface on the back instead. I then realized that I had it on the highest setting and was getting no where. I am not one to use my vibes on the higher settings; I’m no power queen by any means. If not the hard, pointed tip, then the lower intensity and buzzy vibrations were a killer for me.

I tried so hard to make it work. Every time I used Bcurious, I just ended up having to work way too hard to get anything from it. I combined it with some of my favorite dildos, I tried using it in different positions, but no matter what I did I found myself frustrated and fighting for my orgasm with this darn thing.

I did not bother trying this out on my partner. His hate for buzzy vibes was a no brainer for me and seemed like a waste of time to ask for his thoughts.

I do think this could work for those who know they prefer lighter intensity, buzzy vibrations. The shape is also a shot in the dark. Since the material is so firm, the shape is that much more important. I, unfortunately, had a hard time finding any redeeming qualities for my own personal use.
