Use

The Inky Kinky from Hustler Toys is a small and cute classic-style vibrator with updated looks and well thought-out features for cleanliness and body safety that go beyond your standard fare. The Inky Kinky is a very quiet vibrator with moderately strong vibrations that should please many users for solo and partner use.

This toy is recommended for vaginal and external stimulation, but isn't powerful enough to be of use for muscle massage. This toy should not be used anally as it's very slippery and lacks a flared base to prevent an unfortunate visit to the emergency room if you lost your grip and it got sucked inside you beyond retrieval!

Material / Texture

The Inky Kinky is an acrylic and plastic toy that is proudly latex and phthalates free. The insertable portion is clear acrylic with a metallic plastic band at the bottom where the toy unscrews. The base and inside with the embossed flourish designs is plastic. These are both safe, food-grade non-porous materials that are easy to clean.

The toy is smooth and firm, my only complaint is that the acrylic shell on the insertable portion is rather easy to scratch, being made of acrylic. I wouldn't just drop this toy in a purse without a toy bag or similar to protect it.

The materials are high-quality. I was impressed with the construction, I've had more expensive toys that felt cheaper and more likely to break. The parts that screw together feel strong and secure and the toy has a good weight in the hand. As well, the toy is taste and odor free, lending credence to the body safety claim.

Design / Shape / Size

The Inky Kinky is shaped like a traditional "smoothie" style vibrator and as such is a cute choice for a beginner's toy, but probably won't do much for more experienced users. The toy is in total about 5 7/8" long, with the insertable portion being about 4". The toy is about 1 1/8" wide with a gentle and rounded tip for insertion. The tip has a little circular dip at the very end from the mold impression and where it connects with the inner plastic core, but I cannot feel this in use. The base is about 1 1/2" long, rounded at the end, with a squishy button with the number "3" on it, there are also a few legal markings embossed on the base, but they are very discreet and hard to notice.

The size is slim, modest and good for the beginning user but isn't going to satisfy someone looking for a girthy toy. Inky Kinky is completely firm and rigid and I'd note that this toy might not be the best "first" for someone who has never experienced penetrative play as it might be an uncomfortable starter - you might want something with a more gradual taper and a softer material if you aren't sure you'll be okay with the 1 1/8" girth. This toy is about equivalent to the wee-est bit more than my first two fingers, if that helps.

This toy operates using power from a single AA battery and the battery compartment, accessed by unscrewing the bottom portion of the toy, includes a helpful diagram of how it should be situated.

This toy isn't particularly discreet, but it's cute and tasteful. The inside portion of the toy features embossed leaf-like flourishes in a complimentary tone to the toy's body. I'm not sure if it's really either "inky" or "kinky", but I suppose it could be trying to recall tattoo imagery, but looks as much that as pretty stationary to me. It's a small size and easy to store out of sight, though I wouldn't store without a bag or otherwise due to the risk of scratching the acrylic. The button on the bottom requires a fair deal of pressure to activate, and I wouldn't be too worried about it activating, but I'd take the battery out for extended travel in luggage, just to be safe.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Inky Kinky activates with a single press to the singular "3"-marked button on the bottom. This is a simple toy with only three intensities of straight vibration, no patterns. The toy turns off on the fourth press. The strength of vibration ranges for barely-there to moderate, with vibrations concentrated in the tip of the toy. I wouldn't call this toy strong, but as it worked for me eventually, I wouldn't call it weak. Side by side with MiMi, I was surprised this toy was about as powerful as her level four. However, the vibrations in this toy are not conducted through skin nearly as well, leaving this toy feeling comparatively weaker.

The quality of vibration is great. It's rumbly - not buzzy at all! I've found stronger toys for this price, but they've so far had buzzier vibrations. The vibrations do not lose strength when pressure is applied.

This toy is extremely quiet, and I cannot hear it under thick covers and certainly not through a door - even a thin one.

The Inky Kinky doesn't specifically state anywhere that I can find that it's waterproof, but the o-rings are tight and the bottom cap is at least splash-proof and suitable for the shower. I sprayed water at it with no problem and no internal leaks, but I haven't tried this toy fully submerged.

Care and Maintenance

While the material is generally safe to use with silicone lubricant, the manual states "only use water-based lubricant" - so use silicone at your own risk.

The toy is designed to be easy to clean. Being splash-proof, you could use gentle soap and water to clean it. However, the toy is designed with a really neat feature for easier and more thorough cleaning. The acrylic top section screws off, leaving the part with the designs bare.

You could run this under hot water without fear. I would not boil this as we don't know the exact chemical makeup and the top section still has the metallic plastic band that may melt if you do. You can use toy wipes or isopropyl alcohol as well. Since this is a shell detached from the electronics, you can soak it or run it through the dishwasher.

You may be wondering if you could use the plastic body part for play without the cap. Unfortunately, you cannot. There is a hole right at the tip on the body that leads directly to the motor and batteries.

You certainly don't want to get lubricant, body fluids, or water in there! I was a little disappointed to find this hole as it would have been cool to be able to use the acrylic part as a "case" for travel, but the hole does have a necessary function, connecting the two sections so the toy pieces don't rattle out of sync with each other. O well! It functions very well in this regard and the toy doesn't rattle at all.

It's easy to store, but as mentioned you're going to want a baggie - even just a plastic sandwich one. Keep in a bag and in a cool, dark, and dry place away from other toys.

Packaging

The packaging is functional and attractive, but not discreet. You have a clear view of the toy and the text on the box details the its function. It's easy to open and could be used for storage, though it's a bit bulky.

The other box houses a plastic half-clam that cups the toy and slides out. Behind the toy is a silver cardboard piece with the manual behind that. You could conceivably put this silver piece in front of the toy to make the box a touch more discreet to a glance without scrutiny of the writing on the box.

The manual is concise and contains all the information you need and would be helpful to a first-time user. The manual also includes terms of a 30 day warranty in case of mechanical failure. Very good!

The packaging would make for a cute, informal gift.

Personal comments

I wouldn't recommend this toy to someone who knows they need strong and deep vibrations. Since this toy did eventually work for me every time I used it, I would guess it will be enough for the average user.

This toy is best suited for a beginner looking for a relatively inexpensive and easy-to-care-for toy with moderate vibrations and quality construction. This toy would also be great for introducing a pretty and unintimidating toy to partner play - and would be great for a bit of foreplay and warming up, even if you need more power or a different technique later on.

Experience

Inky Kinky feels a fair bit weaker than my go-to toys, but still got the job done in the end, it just took a bit longer and felt a little monotonous. Since the vibrations don't conduct well through skin, I could only use it effectively in one spot, which got boring especially coupled with the longer time to climax.

Internally, I can reach my g-spot with this toy, but I can't apply pressure as I need to curve to do so. However, the rumbly vibrations were quite pleasurable and conducted better when not being dampened by skin from the clitoral hood and vulva.
