Hello kitty - pocket rocket by Sanrio Co - review by HannahPanda

I purchased this toy a short time ago and thought it would be something absolutely adorable to add to my collection of toys. It was originally marketed as a back massager but sex shops picked it up when users started using it for unintended purposes. It was yanked off shelves and then re-marketed so the packaging is in Japanese, though it won't take much reading to figure out that this vibrator is really a novelty gift of sorts and doesn't pack any punch.


It's small, a mere 5 1/2" and fits in the palm of my hand. It's certainly high on the cute factor and would be a nice toy for a collector.


When I opened this toy, I ran my hands over the top of the vibrator and my first question was, "Which end goes first?" When I turned it on, the figurine end of it came to a low vibration with a louder than necessary hum and I was already unimpressed. The top of the vibrator is much too hard of plastic to be particularly pleasing to clitoral stimulation, though it wasn't awful. I gave it quite a few tries over the course of a few months and while some days, it was bearable, it really wasn't worth the price I paid for it.

It came with an AA battery which you insert/remove via a compartment at the bottom of the toy. You simply turn the knob firmly and it pops open and reveals the battery case.


One thing I liked was that the effort required to turn this toy on exceeds the effort needed to turn it off. Thus, you won't have much trouble with this toy on the go turning on in a bag or suitcase.


I was very disappointed that this vibrator has two settings: On/Off. Minimal vibrations left me sadly unsatisfied and that's saying something, as this was my very first vibrator. It was also too noisy for the small vibration it did give off. I would assume that is because Sanrio marketed this as a back massager only and using something for a purpose it wasn't intended doesn't surprise me that I was left wanting more.


All in all, this is a great toy for novelty and for the beginner to small, light weight vibrators, but it's simply a small taste of what similar vibrators of the same value can offer. I wouldn't purchase this again, as it took only a little time for the battery life to dull to near no vibration and the battery compartment has been temperamental from the get go. The figure on top is adorable and I would buy this as a gag gift for a friend, but I'm considering throwing it out as it's just taking up room in my collection that could be replaced with something worth much more value.
