The Pomona's intended purpose is for clitoral stimulation with an ergonomic shape, it does it's job well. This toy is perfect for a beginner due to its ease of use and the minimal, yet strong, vibrations. This could be used solo or with a partner and could be easily used during intercourse to stimulate the clit simultaneously.

The Pomona is made of plastic with TPR pads on the underneath of the handle and on the underneath of the clitoral side. TPR is a rubber blend that gives it a slightly softer feel, however it does create drag, so the use of lube is recommended. I am not crazy about the rubber pads on the underneath because I feel it takes away from some of the vibrations. There is no smell to the toy unless it's held up to the nose and no taste to the toy. So, rest assured, you will not have a room smelling like "sex toy". (we all know that smell..YUCK!)This toy is more geared towards beginners. I'm slightly bored with it, however, on my follow up review we will see if I like it any better.

I am in love with the shape and design. The shape is rounded on one end and then tapers down to the other end that comes to a slight point. It is also curved so that the tapered end can pinpoint onto the clitoris. Perfectly fits in my hand. The size is also great. Small enough to take in a purse or travel bag and discreet enough to not know what it is at first glance.

What can I say about the controls of the Pomona? In a word, basic. It has a button close to the middle of the topside of the toy. Simply press the button once to turn on, twice to turn to a higher vibration level, and press a third time to turn it off. As I said, the controls are very minimal and great for a beginner. It takes 2 AA batteries that did not come with the toy. Just snap the bottom off and pop the batteries in.

The good thing is that this toy is very quiet. It isn't the quietest toy I have, but it is very close. When used under a blanket with a TV on or behind a closed door it is barely detectable by me, much less detected by someone across a room or behind a door.

As far as performance goes, this toy is just alright. It does the job, but takes awhile unless i'm already extremely turned on. The Pomona is great for getting me warmed up or use with another toy vaginally at the same time. I definitely think this toy is more geared towards beginners.

Since this toy does not go inside, it is easy to clean. It is not waterproof, so to clean it use a wet rag with soap and water or toy cleaner, don't run it under water or submerge it. This toy is easy to store, since it is so discreet looking you can leave it on your nightstand and probably get away with it. I store it in a small velvet bag (one that came with a toy I no longer have). Since the Pomona is made of plastic and TPR it can be used with water based or silicone based lube. I do suggest using lube with this toy, due to the drag of the TPR, lube makes it glide easier around for a more enjoyable experience!

the toy came in a small box with the toy inside in a clear plastic piece. The box is slightly discreet becuase it states "massager" and there are no x-rated pictures on the box. It also came with a small instruction sheet, which really wasn't needed to to the simplicity of the toy. But, always nice to have instructions and information sheets on things. I wouldn't use the box for storage, only because it takes up more room than is needed.

As I said, I wasn't thrilled with this toy, only because it in itself takes a long time to get me off just from the toy. However, don't get me wrong, it is great for foreplay and could last forever and feel great. Although, after awhile it tends to desensitize the skin. Dr. Laura Berman's Pomona can also be used on nipples or anywhere a person desires vibrations. If I were given the choice between this and another clitoral vibrator, I would probably not choose this one again. When I get a toy I want a toy that will get me off quickly if I choose or slowly if I choose. This toy goes only one way-slowly. So, as a pre-cursor to sex, yes. As a get me off NOW toy, not so much!
