Designed for women, awesome for men.

The Iris is a toy meant for intense pleasure, whether for men or women. It delivers head and shaft vibration and quite powerfully. While the battery cover does come off occasionally (it's attached to the toy) and the vibration settings are sometimes hard to adjust, that shouldn't be a turn off for an otherwise earth-shaking toy. When you realize that toy gives you that kind of orgasm, it's best to kind of ignore its faults.

Use

Okay, I know this toy is meant for the ladies. What with the pastels and everything. Doesn't come in black. Or some really awesome hot-rod red color. Or have a flared base (see the Billy made by LELO as well). This is every bit is fun for guys as for the ladies.

We ended up getting two of these. One for her, one for me. One blue, one pink. And while there are plenty of reviews on this toy by women and their experiences with it, men could use some perspective, too. So, if you're a lady looking to see just how close to the moon this thing will take you (which, as I'm told quite often, is incredibly far), my review is about how the guys will be taking off in a rocket back to our home planet of Mars.

Material / Texture

This excellent toy by Lelo is made of silicone. And, like all silicone toys, it is easy to clean. It has a very velvety texture and a beautiful design. The little petal-like designs feel wonderful coming in and out of whatever orifice you stick it into.

Also, you'll notice that there is metal band below the silicone section and then a plastic section. While those sections are easily cleaned as well, be sure to clean the little cracks between the sections especially when using this for anal.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy has a magnificent little curve to it. Great for hitting your G-spot or P-spot. I think I had no trouble adjusting to the curve of the toys since most of my other stuff runs in a straight line. However, the only downer is that it doesn't have a flared base. But since it wasn't intended to have one, I think that's something I'll let slide.

You may ask, "Why don't you just get the Billy, since you have acknowledged its existence and its superior qualities as an anal toy?" But looking at the Iris and knowing what I like, I say, "Iris is better." It’s circumference is bigger by an inch and longer by an inch and a half. I know where my P-spot is... and it’s a kind of hard to reach spot. So anything that gets me just that much closer to it helps. Further, if you've seen the size of the Severin Medium, which I love, this will compare in overall circumference and stretch those muscles quite nicely.

The downside, of course is that it IS electronic and the battery is internally housed and not removal. While there is a flap that covers the charger plug area, I wouldn't trust it to keep out water. Be mighty careful when cleaning this. The fact that the charger cover comes off easily (I found myself covering it back up sometimes during play time) is rather a pain. With all the lube needed for anal, I was kind of cautious having that charger cover come off all the time.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Now, I've been told this thing comes out of the box with a bit of a charge already. Mine did not. No matter... the wall charger shall assist. Strangely, it assisted quite quickly. I had a stable charge that lasted the entire first session in about 20 minutes... the time it took to take a shower, and perhaps do a bit of pre-anal clean up. Now, I haven't used it in about 4 or 5 days and I just checked just now to see if the charge was there (those days ago, I used it for about 20-ish minutes at full power with slow alternating motion) and it ran quite beautifully.

The toy has a neat little dial in the middle of the handle. The ring glows to demonstrate it’s on. Once on, the right side is a plus key which ramps up the power. The minus does the opposite. The up and down key changes the settings on the two motors inside of the vibe. This is the main draw for me. While most vibes have a single motor, this has two - one at the head, another at the base. Five modes: head only, base only, rapid alternating motors, slow alternating, and thunder-motor (AKA: both continuous). The lady friend seems to like the thunder-motor setting (her name, not mine, by the way). I, however, like the slow alternating; in other words, fun for all kind of people. When on, the motors are quiet and incredibly powerful.

Some dislikes, however, are that the up and down buttons used to change the motor style settings don't respond all the time. You kind of have to hold it down kind of funky to get it work. Now, if you know what you want and you don't really change settings much (IE: me) that's not a big deal. But for some, I can imagine they'll want to something different midway though their play time. However, the strength keys are quite responsive.

Care and Maintenance

As I've said before, this thing is easy to clean. Silicone is by far my favorite material (glass being second) because of this fact. While you should be careful cleaning this with soap and water (aim the head down and don't let the water touch anything above the metal band), I didn't really have any problems with it.

I have yet to figure out how long this charge actually lasts as I charge mine after use every time (except for one time when I got lazy). However, the instructions say not to keep it plugged in for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time. Why? I don't know. I keep my phone charging all the time at home and it hasn't like... exploded or anything. But best to follow instructions. So, for whatever reason, don't keep this thing charging for more than 3 hours.

Packaging

Quick blurb on this as I am never one to comment on boxes or anything. I was the kid at Christmas that didn't care what the wrapping was, let's just skip to the goods. But I have to say that it's possible Apple chipped in on the making of it. Very nice. The greater surprise is that it has its own little box inside the box. Like... a specifically made toy box for the toy. While not really a space saver, I'll be putting it back in there just because it looks so nice.

Experience

I had a blast with this toy. For solo anal play, it really knocked me out of the park. I have never once actually screamed in orgasm... occasional out-of-breathness when using anal play... but I think I sounded like... a majestic lion. My lady said I sounded like Keaneu Reeves in Point Break when he shot his gun up in the air (she only knows that cuz of "Hot Fuzz"). Either way, the point is, it could not be contained. I have never had an orgasm that intense off of anal play. While I have never gotten more than one or two with prostate stimulation alone (and I can't do it by myself, sadly), I hope I can do it solo consistently because it was so amazing.
Follow-up commentary
Even after multiple toys for good ol' anal, this is still a fantastic favorite for me. It feels larger when going in and out and gets me all stretched. I can't stress enough how amazing the dual motors are. Something to hit my prostate and something to stimulate my anal sphincter turns me on like crazy.

However, between the time I bought this and now, I did notice Lelo came out with the Elise. And, looking at it, I wonder if I should have waited. I love the black color the Elise comes in (I'm a dude... it's gotta come in black!) as well as the smooth texture. Perhaps I would miss the texturing, but I doubt it. For anal, it's just not as pleasurable as I used to think. Not that it, in any noticeable amount, detracts from the experience.

In any case, I still strongly recommend the Iris. Whether you're using it vaginally or anally, it's a wild ride.

Oh, and also... silicone.
