Disco Is Not Dead

The Mini-Mates Disco kit is an okay kit. Both the rubber sleeve and the vibrating bullet are easy to use. The sleeve may be a bit more difficult to insert because of the texture, however the bullet on its own is slim and smooth, making it easy to insert. I definitely prefer just the bullet on its own to using the sleeve with it, especially since the sleeve is made of porous rubber and can occasionally be a bit difficult to clean.

Use

Mini-Mates Disco is a set of a vibrating bullet and a textured rubber sleeve. The bullet can either be slipped inside the sleeve or used on its own. This toy can be used to provide stimulation either internally or externally.

The bullet features an easy to use button at the base, making this great to control when alone or with a partner. This piece is great when you want something slim, smooth, and powerful. Since it's waterproof, it can be taken into the shower or bath tub, too. The bullet is great for any user, especially beginners.

The purple rubber sleeve has a large ridge texture to it. This adds some girth and texture to the vibrations provided by the bullet. It can also be taken into the shower. This may be a little bit more difficult for beginners to insert, due to the texture.

Since neither piece in this kit has a flared base, Mini-Mates Disco is not appropriate for anal play. Toys without flared bases can become lost inside of your body if you are not careful, so it's best to avoid using them anally.

Material / Texture

The RO-120MM bullet is made of smooth silver plastic with a purple rubber button. There is a rubber seal around the base to protect it against water getting in. The plastic's silver finish does not flake off. Along the shaft of the bullet is an indentation of Rocks-Off's logo and the name of the bullet. I think the bullet is pretty high in quality and would be suitable for all users. This would definitely be a good choice bullet for beginners, since it's a pretty safe and easy to use vibrator.

The Disco sleeve is made of purple rubber. Rubber is a porous material that can be difficult to keep clean. It is recommended to use a condom over rubber toys, especially if you are sharing them with a partner. It has some texture to it that makes it drag against skin very slowly. Using some lubricant will make the surface more slippery. The sleeve has eight bumps of ridges. At the base of it is Rocks-Off's logo. The sleeve is squishy and flexible on its own, however the bullet does not allow it to flex. The sleeve can be a bit difficult to insert, due to the girth of it and the bumps. The sleeve has a light rubbery odor to it. I tried washing the sleeve and leaving it out for a few days, but the odor is still there.

Both the bullet and sleeve do not have any seams on them.

Design / Shape / Size

The RO-120MM bullet included in this kit is pretty large. It's 5 inches long by 3 1/4 inches around. One end is the base, which screws off to reveal the battery compartment. This has a rubber seal around it to prevent water from getting into the battery compartment. The other end is the tip, which gently curves down to a more precise tip. Think of the pointy end of a bullet used in a gun. One side has the Rocks-Off logo and RO-120MM imprinted on it.

The sleeve measures 4 1/2 inches long and 5 inches around. It's long enough to cover the bullet up to where the base screws off. It's very easy to slip over the bullet without any lube or anything. At the same time, once it's on the bullet, it will take a good tug to get it back off. I like how easy it is to slip this over the bullet. I'd rather not use lube inside of the sleeve, as it could be a bit of a pain to get all of the lube cleaned out of it.

I think the size and shape of this toy is pretty good. The vibrating bullet is small enough to easily hold in one hand to stimulate externally, yet it's still large enough to slip the sleeve over it and use it internally. The bumps along the sleeve were a bit of a challenge to me at first. I typically do not like textured or more complicated toys. I prefer super smooth shapes and designs. With enough lube and by relaxing enough, though, I was able to get this comfortably inside of me. If you find yourself unable to insert this, I'd definitely start out with something smaller to warm up a little bit.

Mini-Mates Disco is pretty discreet as far as size goes. It's small enough to easily tuck away in a variety of places. I think if someone found just the sleeve they would have absolutely no idea what it is. Anyone who finds the bullet would probably know what it is right off the bat.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The RO-120MM bullet has 5 different vibrating functions. They are located mainly in the tip of the bullet, however they can be felt all the way up the shaft of it. To access the vibrating functions, press the purple rubber button on the base. To turn off the bullet, hold that button for a few seconds.

This takes 2 AAA batteries, which are included with this kit. I've had this vibrator for almost a year now and seem to have taken the batteries out to use them for something else. I can't remember the brand other than it being one of those cheap no-name ones. RO-120MM doesn't seem to be too much of a battery guzzler. I put in some almost dead batteries and ended up with 15 minutes or so of power.

The vibrating functions are:
- Constant medium vibrations
- Constant high vibrations
- Slow build up from low to high vibrations
- Fast pulses of high vibrations
- Faster pulses of medium vibrations

Personally, I prefer the first and third vibrating patterns. This bullet is powerful. The rubber sleeve seems to dull the vibrations a small amount. The higher settings are a bit too stimulating for me if I use just the bullet. When I play around with this with just my hands, turning it on for a few seconds makes my hands feel all tingly and weird from the vibrations.

The controls are very easy to use when using this on or in a partner or by yourself. My only concern is that the bullet weighs quite a bit. It weighs more than most regular plastic vibrators I own. The weight could make your wrist tired from holding the vibrator in place.

As I've stated, this toy can be used in the shower. The screw on base goes on very tightly and seals with a rubber ring. When tested in a sink full of water, the bullet kept on going after I submerged it. Once I took it out of the sink and dried it off, I checked inside the battery compartment for any water leaks and found none.

This toy is kind of loud. The sleeve muffles it a bit, but not very much. This can definitely be heard through covers, though possibly not a closed door. A fan or some music would definitely cover up the noise.

Care and Maintenance

The sleeve and bullet can be washed with antibacterial soap and warm water or your favorite toy cleaner. The ridges between the bumps on the sleeve can be more difficult to clean, since they trap lube and whatnot in them. The packaging claims this toy is made with antibacterial properties to help keep it clean. Once this is clean, it can be air-dried or wiped with a soft cloth or towel. I have not noticed any cat hair or lint sticking to the sleeve. Once it's clean, I'd store it away to keep it clean for the next use. The bullet can just be thrown in with any toys, however I'd put the sleeve in a plastic bag or something to keep dust off of it since it is harder to clean than the bullet. I've been keeping mine in the original packaging since I wanted to write a review on it, but I think now I am going to recycle the box and store this as I stated above.

Both the rubber sleeve and plastic bullet are safe to use with silicone or water based lubricants.

Packaging

This vibrating bullet and rubber sleeve come packaged in a cute little paperboard box with a plastic insert. The paperboard is covered in different colored squares with a black shape of a woman dancing in them. The front of the packaging states the included vibrating bullet is a 5 speed RO-120mm bullet. The back says this toy is waterproof and easy to clean. The bullet requires 2 AAA batteries, which are included. This box is okay for gift giving. It isn't covered in naked women, but there is a cutaway window that will allow everyone to see exactly what is inside the box. I would not keep it for storage. It's a bit too bulky and doesn't do much as far as protecting the toy from damage. I would recycle all components of the packaging.

My box was really beat up when it arrived, even though it was packed pretty securely and hadn’t been banging around in the shipping box.

Inside of the box is a folded up guide that instructs the user on how to insert batteries and turn the toy on and off. There is also a small guide showing some other toys by Rocks-Off.

Personal comments

I think Mini-Mates Disco seems like a pretty decent quality toy. EdenFantasys hasn't added it for sale yet, even though it's had a product page for a year or so now. I'm curious to see what their price will be for all of the Mini-Mates kits. Amazon has it for sale for $19.99, which seems like a pretty reasonable price for this kit. The bullet is pretty sturdy and powerful and the sleeve gives it some girth and texture.

Personally, I think this toy is okay. It's a little strong and the sleeve is a bit too girthy for me. I like it more for external stimulation. I like that the rubber sleeve offers some feel to the toy that is similar to silicone, yet I can still use my silicone based lube with it. I'd say this is an average toy. It'll do in a pinch, but I'd prefer to reach for something else when I'm looking for some extra stimulation.
Follow-up commentary
I'm not really a fan of this toy anymore. It just simply isn't as exciting for me as some higher quality toys. I like the vibrating bullet because it's strong, however I don't really like the sleeve. Both the bullet and the sleeve have recently begun calling the bottom of my storage box "home". The only thing I really still like about it is the noise level, which is a bit quieter than some other toys I have. I'm not saying the toy is quiet, though, it's just quieter than other vibrators I have.
