Mood passionate - vibrator by Doc Johnson - review by Emma (Girl With Fire)

This is a dual stimulation vibrator which, while not the most powerful I own, is definitely one of my favorites... and not just because it reminds me of Gonzo's nose.



This is a vibrator suited best to women, as is is designed to stimulate internally as well as externally on the clitoris, but could also be used anally with the clitoral stimulator against the perineum. It is also both quiet and waterproof which makes it convenient to use pretty much anywhere that you can get a little privacy!

The Mood Passionate vibrator is made of a combination of silicone and plastic. The portion of the vibrator which comes into genital contact, is pure silicone, whereas the control portion of the vibe is made of a hard plastic. The silicone is soft and flexible(with the exception of the areas with mechanics inside them), and the texture is quite smooth, but does have a slight drag. There is a slight seam in the silicone, though it is small enough as to be inconsequential during play.

Silicone is one of the most body safe materials currently being used in sex toys, it is latex and phthalates free, hypo-allergenic and fully sterilizable. Once warmed up or cooled down silicone will maintain temperature for short period of time but is not ideal for things like temperature play.

Because this is such a body safe material I would highly recommend it for beginners, (most advanced users are well aware of its benefits and already seek out toys of this material) I would also suggest it for those who enjoy swapping toys, or sharing with partners. It is important to remember that if you and your partner/the party you are swapping with are not fluid bonded, you will need to either employ the use of a condom, or sterilize the toy before letting another person use it in order to prevent the risk of transferring bacteria or infection.

My guess is that whoever designed this vibrator either watched a whole lot of The Muppets as a child, or has never seen the show, becuase it is a bit difficult to look at this vibe without seeing it attached to Gonzo's face

(at least if you have bought the blue Mood Passionate (which is really more turquoise in colour). The pink however reminds me more of this guy


The design (however muppet like) is definitely beneficial to the user. Because the clitoral stimulator is non-animalistic and has no bumps or ticklers, some people may see it as boring, however this combined with its size actually make it quite similar to a human finger (specifically the pinky finger). The realization of this got me wondering how it would feel when moved in the same patterns that I enjoy when human fingers are involved. All I can say is WOW, what I had initially found to be a somewhat weak, and only mildly stimulating toy, soon became an incredible experience. When moved in small circles which cause the clitoral stimulator to rotate around the clit, the internal vibrator stimulates the g-spot, this results in a steady buildup to a quite powerful orgasm. This also works (though not as well) in a quarter rotation which moves the clitoral stimulator from side to side across the clit. Both of these movements are further improved by setting the controls to one of pulsing vibration patterns.

This is a rather unintimidating toy, with a diameter just over 1 inch, an insertable length of 4 3/4", and mid power vibrations, the Mood Passionate makes a fantastic beginner toy, but when used with some imagination it can definitely satisfy more advanced toy enthusiasts as well.

The opening for batteries is located in the base of the MP. To insert or remove the batteries you push down on and rotate the base of the vibrator counter clockwise, almost the entire plastic area will turn and detach (up to where the silver band stops). To close the lid you place it on sideways and rotate clockwise to lock into place.

The MP is a dual motored vibrator with the most powerful vibrations located in the center of the clitoral attachment, and the head of the shaft. The vibrations carry well through the silicone and make the whole thing a sensory pleasure. The vibrations are low as opposed to buzzy, and there is a pattern setting which creates an actual rumble. This is one of the, if not THE quietest vibrator I have ever come across. You can turn it onto the high setting and have to strain to hear it from 5 feet away in a completely silent room with nothing muffling the sound (it even remains quiet in the tub!).

There are 10 pattern settings to the MP, and the best part of all it will remember which pattern it was last set to, when you turn the vibe on to use it again later! The settings are as follows, 3 straight vibration patterns starting with the highest and progressing toward the lowest in power, an escalation pattern, short quick pulsing on the low setting, a higher powered pulsation, a faster high powered pulsation, a slow and low pulsation, a slow and high pulsation, a very fast pulsing low vibration which feels a lot like a constant rumble. As you can tell, these patterns are a little disorganized feeling while you are cycling through them.

The controls are very easy to use, there are two buttons on the base of the vibe, one which is a dedicated on/off switch, the other which cycles through the vibration patterns. They are fairly easy to reach during play, and because the buttons themselves are made of the silicone material and set into the plastic base they are very easy to locate by touch.

The MP is completely waterproof, but it is always a good idea with any vibe that has been wet, to leave it sitting opened while it dries. On the off chance that there is a problem with the seal and a small amount of moisture HAS gotten in, it will evaporate into the room air instead of damaging your toy.

As an added bonus to this toy, it does not seem to guzzle batteries, in fact they last through quite a few uses before you begin to lose power very slowly.

The MP is easy to care for because it is silicone, and because it is waterproof. For normal washing, simply use a mild soap and warm water, or an antibacterial toy cleaner. The shape of the MP makes cleaning a breeze.

For more thorough cleaning you can sterilize your toy using a 10% bleach solution which will harm neither the silicone or plastic. Simply spray on, or soak in solution for 20 minutes, rinse and pat dry.

(As stated above, always leave open for a while to ensure the insides have no moisture in them before storing - sometimes this happens even with waterproof toys, though it generally does take a long time for the small amount of moisture to do any damage. Why risk it though?)

This silicone DOES pick up small amounts of hair, but is definitely NOT a lint magnet. If you use a microfiber towel to pat dry and keep in a lint free storage container such as the box it came in, or a storage pouch you should be fine.

This toy is compatible with water based lubes only. Using any other type of lube could possibly damage the integrity of the silicone, and nobody wants that. Also keep your toy separated from any toys you do not know for sure are 100% silicone as not all materials are compatible with each other.

Gonzo did what many other vibrators have failed to do, he not only proved to me that strong vibrations and fancy ticklers are in no way necessary for enjoyable clitoral stimulation, but also taught me some new ways to use a rabbit vibrator, (which up until this point I had used only for short thrusts or gentle rocking, letting the dual motors do the rest of the work).

Not only am I now open to trying out a bunch of new vibrators that I previously expected to fall way short, but I am starting to love all things Gonzo.... gonzo porn, gonzo reporting.. gonzo NOSE.
