Don’t Judge a Sex Toy by Its Cover

Going on looks alone, I never would have thought that this toy would be as awesome as it is. The oscillations feel different on the body than vibrations, and in a very good way. The many different attachments allow something for just about everyone.

Use

The Eroscillator is designed for all over the body stimulation. It has attachments designed for clitoral stimulation, nipple stimulation, internal use and some of these attachments can be used on a male. It can be used solo, during foreplay, or intercourse. This kit contains multiple attachments designed for different things:

1. The Golden Spoon: Designed for use on the clitoris and inner and outer labia.
2. The Seven Pearls of the Orient: Designed for vaginal and anal penetration.
3. The French Legionnaire’s Mustache: Designed for general stimulation of the body as well as internal vaginal stimulation (I wouldn’t have thought of this, but the booklet says that’s what its designed for).
4. Ball and Cup: Another concave surface to fit over the clitoris or nipples. The instructions suggest using the other side to help exercise the vagina. I’m not really sure what this means…
5. Grapes and Cockscomb: Designed for labia, clitoris and general over the body use.
The availability of even more attachments makes this toy suitable for anyone. The versatile nature of the tips means there is just about something for everybody. Included are some detailed instructions on how to use this with a male partner.

The Eroscillator is also touted for women who have difficulty achieving orgasm through manual methods or with traditional vibrators, but can also be used by beginners and those who just want to experience a different type of stimulation.

Material / Texture

The body of the Eroscillator is made from a gold/copper colored hard plastic. The plastic does not feel cheap to me in my hands. It is not light but it is also not terribly heavy, it's closer in weight to a full pop can rather than an empty one. It feels like you are actually holding something that is well made.

The heads are a softer, flexible material. The product page says the Eroscillator is plastic but does not include the material of the attachments. The Eroscillator website says they are made from a “silicon coated TPR”. I am not sure if they are able to be sterilized the same way silicone toys are, which makes me nervous about using the “Seven Pearls of the Orient” attachment both anally and vaginally (with cleaning in between of course). The bristles on the “French Legionnaire’s Mustache” attachment are much softer than a toothbrush. Looking at the picture I imagined they would be stiff, like a toothbrush or one of those brushes to clean electronics, but it is very soft and not scratchy.

There is no smell to the toy nor any taste that I noticed. The heads can pick up some lint, but overall are not very sticky.

Design / Shape / Size

The Eroscillator looks like a giant, golden electric toothbrush. It has a large handle with grooves in it for grip. The entire unit comes apart for cleaning and even the cord comes off. The included info material say that this toy is great for couples play, but it seems a bit cumbersome. The handle is not ergonomically shaped and is straight up and down. The oscillations cannot be felt very much in the handle so no numbing of the hands. The cord on this toy is also very long, and can reach from across my room to my bed. So if you do not have an outlet right next to your bed this could be a huge advantage.

The Eroscillator’s main selling point is the oscillating motor. The attachments do not bang into you like a vibrators do, but instead move very quickly back and forth. It is noticeable when you look at the toy on a lower setting. The oscillations feel similar to, but different from vibrations. They do not numb at all!

This kit comes with five different attachments, which just snap in.
1. The Golden Spoon: It is an oval shaped head that is concave on one side and has bumps on the other. The spoon side has one single bump on the top edge of the spoon. This can be felt during use and provides additional clitoral stimulation. When the spoon side is over the clit, the bumps on the other side are designed to provide labial stimulation.
2. The Seven Pearls of the Orient: Looks very similar to a small anal probe or anal beads and reminded me of a rattlesnake tail. It is sized for anal beginners and can be used externally or vaginally. This attachment does its job at anal stimulation well, but does little due to the shape and size for other stimulation.
3. The French Legionnaire’s Mustache: This attachment is great for over the body use. If you are ticklish it could be torturous or really awesome (I lack any ticklishness). The instructions say it can be used internally or on the clit. The bristles look like too much of a chore to clean, so it might not be best in super wet areas.
4. Ball and Cup: The cup side of this attachment could fit over the clit like the golden spoon, but it has no texture on the inside and does not do very much when used this way. Flip it over to the ball side and clitoral stimulation is great. The cup side can also be used on nipples. It can also be used during partner play.
5. Grapes and Cockscomb: This attachment is the most interesting in shape. It has a flat bumpy surface (the grapes) with a perpendicular textured piece (the cockscomb). When this attachment is nestled with the grapes on the clit, the cockscomb provides excellent labial stimulation.
There is one qualm about the quality of the attachment heads, there are visible seams on some of these that are rather rough and shouldn’t be there for the price of this toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

A slider bar on the side of the handle operates the controls. Push the slider up and the toy turns on. There are three different settings for strength. The controls are easy to manage during use. In case you need a quick shutoff, just push the slider back to its off position. The slider is easy to bump and change the setting by accident however.

The sound of the toy is different from that of vibrators. For example, my wand style massager sounds similar to a power drill. Some toys sound like cell phone vibrations. The Eroscillator sounds closer to a fish tank filter/bubbler/thing. It sounds loud in your hands but cannot be heard at all through a closed door, even on the highest setting.

Care and Maintenance

The Eroscillator can be taken apart completely to clean, but that does not need to be done every time you use it. The base can just be wiped down with a damp cloth or a toy wipe and the heads can be washed in soap and water. Since the heads are not pure silicone, I would err on the side of caution and not boil them or place them in the dishwasher. I would also recommend, if you need lubes, work with water based as silicone based lubes is incompatible with silicone and oil based lubes are incompatible with TPR.

The Eroscillator comes with a plastic storage tote that fits the heads, body and adapter. The cord unplugs from the body and can be wrapped up and stored that way.

Because the instructions for taking the toy apart involve a few different parts of the toy, I am hanging on to it in case I forget what part to put on first.

Packaging

The Eroscillator comes in a small pink cardboard box that says “the science of pleasure” and “Eroscillator 2” on it. It is not super obvious what exactly is inside the box if you didn’t already know. Inside the box are some instructions, an information packet, a DVD, the Eroscillator body, cord, and 5 attachments as well as a vinyl or plastic storage pouch to keep it all in. The box could be used for long term storage, but I prefer to use the storage pouch included. The packaging very well could be given as a gift with no embarrassment. The pamphlet inside gives information about the company, the different heads available for purchase and Dr. Ruth’s primer on self-pleasure. It looks and reads like one of those “as seen on tv” things to me.

Personal comments

The DVD included in this package gives more ideas on how to use the toy but is primarily a infomercial on why this toy is awesome. It gives the testimonials of a few women and a middle-aged couple. The video is kind of cheesy and Dr. Ruth makes it amusing (she is so freaking cute! I love her!). There is some nudity when the advertisement couple is shown using the toy. There are no genitals shown though.

Experience

I do not have a clit-of-steel nor a super sensitive one, I fall somewhere in the middle. Sometimes vibrations can leave me numb (especially when I use higher powered toys) or do not bring me to an orgasm every time and I can get frustrated. This one however just feels different. I never got numb even using it right after another orgasm and I actually was able to squirt from just external stimulation. I had read about this toy in the past and was always curious but the price and ugly looks put me off. I can see this product being really useful to those who cannot achieve orgasm easily.

A note on the “Cup and Ball” attachment from my personal experience, it does not feel good on pierced nipples. It painfully vibrated my barbells and was quite ouchy. So you may want to take out your piercings before using the attachment there.

What a wonderful review! I've been passing this one up for the sole reason that it looks cumbersome and really ugly. Now it's on my wishlist! I hope this works where traditional vibrators seem to fail for me. Thanks for sharing!

The fact it doesn't numb & can be used right after orgasm without pain, is what has me so interested in trying this! I hope to trade for one, soon!
