Diamond dolphin - rabbit vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Diamond Dolphin is a rabbit style vibrator made by California Exotics. The toy arrived in a plastic, rectangular package. The front of the packaging states the company name, product name, a few product features, and the vibrator can be seen through the front of the packaging. The back of the packaging has the same information as the front, along with a brief product description and a diagram of the toy. Inside of the packaging the toy sits on a plastic insert. The packaging is fine to use for storing the toy when it’s not in use.



The vibrator is made of TPE. It is hypoallergenic, latex free, and phthalate free. Both the shaft and clitoral arm are smooth and squishy. The base of the clitoral arm is flexible but the shaft is not. Below you can see a photo of the flexibility of the clitoral arm and another photo of me pinching the squishy material by the beads. The shaft cannot bend because of the rod inside of it that holds the rotating portion at the head and beads at the centre of the shaft. There is quite a bit of drag to the material. To avoid drag, you can use either a silicone or water based lubricant with the toy.

The vibrator is clear and see-through. Through the material of the vibe you can see the 4 rows of rotating beads, mechanism to rotate the head, and bullet in the clitoral arm. The clitoral arm is in the shape of a dolphin. The tip of the clitoral arm is the dolphin’s nose. Luckily, the dolphin is not animated with big eyes and features. I personally cannot stand vibrators or any product that goes “down there” if it’s cute or adorable. To me, it just feels wrong.

The control panel is at the base of the vibrator. The base is white and the control panel is silver in colour. Below the clitoral arm, there are 2 rows of 12 “diamonds” running around the vibe. These “diamonds” are just sparkly rhinestones. The vibrator requires 3x AA batteries, which are not included. The vibrator does not come with any included instruction manual but is fairly easily to figure out on your own.

At the very bottom of the base, there is a twist cap to access the battery compartment. Once you’ve twisted the lid off, the battery compartment pulls out to place the batteries inside. Once the batteries are in, push the compartment back inside, twist the lid tightly, and it’s ready to go! There is a clear o-ring where the lid twists on to prevent water from entering the compartment. The toy is waterproof, just be sure to secure the lid tightly.



The control panel has a total of 5 buttons. On the left hand side, there is an up (^) and down (v) arrow that controls the rotation speed. On the right hand side, there is another up (^) and down (v) arrow, which controls the vibration intensity. Above these arrows is a circular button with the letters R/S on it. Clicking this button will change the direction of the rotation of the shaft. Both the rotation speed and vibration intensity has three levels each: low, medium, and high. The control panel is very easy to use and understand.



One nice thing about the Diamond Dolphin is that the shaft and clitoral stimulator operate individually. If you prefer the shaft to not rotate but still want the clitoral arm to vibrate, you can do that! Or, if you want the shaft rotation to be fast but the clitoral arm to be vibrate on low, you can do that too! Personally, I prefer both rotation and vibration level to be on high but I understand that not everyone enjoys the power. When both shaft and arm are on, the power is just as strong. Increasing the power of one does not decrease the strength of the other.

The 3 power levels for both the rotation and vibration are low, medium, and high. The low level is probably a 2 out of 5, the medium is a 3, and the high is a 4. I’m the type to need higher levels of power for clitoral stimulation and I’m pleased to say that the Diamond Dolphin can do it for me on the highest setting. If I had to use the first or second level, I probably wouldn’t be as happy with the toy. The strength of the Diamond Dolphin is not the strongest rabbit vibrator I own but I feel that the strength will be sufficient for most people. The rotating beads did not jam or stop rotating when I clenched as tightly as I could. On the lowest setting, I couldn’t feel the beads very well but on the highest setting I could. I really liked the feeling of the rotating beads and head.

The vibrator is rather noisy. On the lowest settings, the sound cannot be heard through a closed door. On the medium and high settings, the sound increases and can definitely be heard through a closed door. The noise level to the Diamond Dolphin is not discreet and not a toy that you would want to use while other people are outside of the room or if you have a roommate. The rotating shaft is the noisier of the two. The shaft hums and sounds like “ZeEEeEEeEEeEE”, while the clitoral arm is a soft buzzing noise.

The vibe should be cleaned both before and after each use because it attracts lint, hair, etc. To clean the vibe you can use warm water and a mild soap, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. Since the toy is waterproof, it’s quick and easy to clean. I have yet to completely submerge the toy but when I cleaned it, I held the toy under the running water and no water entered the battery compartment. The toy cannot be disinfected so if you plan on sharing, be sure to cover with a condom every time.

Overall, I’m happy with Diamond Dolphin. It’s got low-high levels that can satisfy a beginner or a person who requires more strength in intensity. The toy does have a bit of girth (see measurements above) so I would not recommend it to those who prefer slimmer toys. If it were possible I would give the toy a 3 ½ out of 5 but since we can only give full stars, I’ve given the rabbit vibe a 4 out of 5. I’ve deducted the star because of how loud it is and the fact that it’s a crazy pet hair collector.

I still really like the Diamond Dolphin but the noise is so darn loud! I'd probably use the toy more often it the noise level was discreet. If noise is neither distracting nor an issue for your living situation, I'd recommend it.
